Seulgi rushed to hospital after got a call that his best friend, Jung Soojung involved in accident. Soojung and her husband, Kim Taeyeon on their way to hospital because it is her due to deliver their first baby. Unfortunately they collide with a car that comes from opposite direction. Both of them suffer serious injury

As he arrived at emergency room, Seulgi saw Bae Joohyun sitting outside of the room. She is Kim Taeyeon stepsister.

“Joohyun” Seulgi run to her. Her eyes are puffy due to crying “Is everything okay?”

“They are still inside” Joohyun said under her sobs

“What about Soojung and baby? Can they make it?”

“Doctors are trying to do their best to save baby and Soojung. Oppa injured badly too”

“Aigooo” Seulgi let out heavy sighs “Don’t cry, okay? Everything will be fine” he taps Joohyun shoulder trying to comfort her

Emergency room door open, a female doctor come out “Excuse me, are you a family of Kim Taeyeon and his wife?” her name written on her nametag is Dr. Choi SY

“I am Kim Taeyeon sister” Joohyun quickly said

“How are them, doctor? Are they survived?” Seulgi asked

Dr. Choi silent for few second “I’m sorry sir, ma’am but Mr. Kim Taeyeon can’t make it”

Joohyun and Seulgi looking at each other then Seulgi ask again “What about his wife and baby?”

“Only one of them will survive. However, Mrs. Kim chose her baby. Baby was safely delivered and Mrs. Kim died just few minutes after her baby born. She just able to see her daughter in short period”

Joohyun already crying in Seulgi arm and he try best to comfort her “When we can see the baby?”

“Our nurse will bring her to nursery later then you can visit her”

“Okay, thank you for your hard work” Seulgi shake hand with the doctor

“Sorry for your loss”

“Thanks doctor”

Dr. Kim left after that. Seulgi bring Joohyun to the bench “Joohyun-ah, I’m very sorry for them”

“I can’t imagine how appa and umma will take this news. Oppa really excited waiting for his baby to born but he can’t get to see her. I don’t know what to do now”

“You have to be strong for them especially their baby. You will be a father and mother for the kid. Your parents will be fine; don’t worry” said Seulgi “Where are you parents? Do they know about this?”

“Appa and umma are on trip now but they head back after I told them about the accident”

Seulgi nods “Now you only focus on the baby. I will handle their funeral service, okay? Make sure the baby treated well. Be strong for her”

Joohyun looking at Seulgi with puffy eyes “Thanks Seulgi, I don’t know what I will do without you”

“No problem, Soojung only has me as her family member so I will do my best for her even we are family by heart”

“Shall we tell Jung family about this?”

“Nope, I still remember what her family told her before they ditch her. They don’t want to know about her anymore even if she dies so we don’t need to tell them. They wouldn’t care though. I know how much they mean their words”

“Okay then” Irene say “Shall we go to nursery to check the baby?”

“Sure, let’s go”

Just few minutes after they arrived at the nursery, the nurse bring them to see the baby girl. She sleeping soundly

“Aigoo, very cute!” Seulgi cackle soon as he saw the baby

“Yah, don’t make noise. She is sleeping” Joohyun pinch Seulgi to shut him

“Sorry, I just excited seeing her” Seulgi still smiling like idiot. He really want to hold the kid but he don’t know what to do so to avoid any harm, he just adore her

Joohyun speak with the nurse after scolding Seulgi “Nurse, when we can take her home?”

“If everything is fine, she can go back tomorrow”

“Can we bring her back in the morning because we have to handle her parent’s funeral service?”

“I will talk with Dr. Choi later”

“Okay, thanks nurse”

Joohyun turn around greeted by the scene of Seulgi adoring the baby lovingly. He still smiling while watching her sleeping

“Do you like kid that much?” Joohyun voice distract Seulgi

“Not really but I like her. Suddenly, I feel like I’m very fond to her. Maybe because her mom is my friend that we have a piece of bond”

“That’s good then”

“What name you will give her?”

Irene tapping her chin then shake her head “I don’t have idea”

“Let’s call her Baby Kim until you found a cute name”

“Sure thing”

“Hey Baby Kim” Seulgi playing around again, he playfully poking the chubby cheek

“Seulgi, slow down your voice” Joohyun said

“Sorry” Seulgi mute his laugh

After the funeral, Seulgi gather with Bae family at their house. Everyone still sad but they have to stay strong for each other especially the baby. Mrs. Bae cradle her granddaughter in her arms as the little girl sleeping soundly after she feed her with milk. Seulgi and Mr. Bae talk about random topic while Joohyun talking with someone on the phone. After few minutes, she return and join them at living room

“Appa, umma, I got a call from Taeng oppa lawyer, he said he have something to tell us”

“Okay”

“Seulgi, you also needed so don’t go home yet” Joohyun looking at Seulgi

“Noted”

Joohyun looking at her mother and the baby “Umma, is she sleep?”

“Yes, she is full after I gave her milk” Mrs. Bae said quietly

“Let me hold her”

“Sure” Mrs. Bae carefully passed Baby Kim to Joohyun

“I’m happy that she not throwing tantrum during funeral earlier. She really a good girl” Seulgi said

“Maybe she don’t want her parents to be sad…poor my granddaughter” Mr. Bae sadly said

“Seulgi-ah, thanks for handling everything for us. You really help us a lot” said Mrs. Bae

“No problem aunty. Taeyeon hyung and Soojung are my best friends so I will do my best for both of them”

“You’re very good son”

“Aishhh” Seulgi shy while Mr. Bae nudged his side, teasing him

An hour later, the lawyer arrived. He explained that he come to read the will that Taeyeon and his wife had made

“Before we proceed with the will, I will read a letter from Mr. Kim. He gave it to me 2 days before the accident. He told me to read it in case something happen to him. I don’t know that he will go that fast but I guess his instinct can tell. Can I start now?”

“Go ahead Mr. Yoo” said Joohyun

Mr. Yoo unsealed the envelope in front of the family members and he take out a piece of paper. He showed it to them. The letter is written personally by Taeyeon himself

Dear my family,

When my lawyer read this letter to you, that’s mean we’re not together anymore. Since last week, I really have bad feeling. The terrible nightmare keeps repeating and it really scary. It’s not only me but Soojung also might be in danger. Just in case we’re not around anymore, Joohyunie, please take care of our baby. I know you can raise her like your own child. Please shower her with your love. You will be a good mom for her, I believe in you. Name her as Yerim. That is the name that Soojung choose for her. She only has you and our family in this world. As for Kang Seulgi, dude, please take care of my child like she is your own daughter. Please be a father for Baby Yerim and name him after you. She supposed to be Kim Yerim but I want her to be Kang Yerim. Seul, you can do it, right? This is my wish. You always be a good brother to me and Soojung so you can be good father for our baby. Seulgi is zoning out soon as he hear the wish. He still not ready to be a father but this is his best friend wish and Yerim also need a father. There is no one for her to depend on because Taeyeon don’t have brother so everything relies on him now. On the other hand, Joohyun’s also nervous as she has new responsibility on her shoulder. She knew she will take care of her niece but the feeling of nervousness still there. She will try her best to raise the little girl. She hope Seulgi also will treat Yerim well. After knowing Seulgi for 3 years, she admits that Seulgi is a good guy. They not really close with each other but since Seulgi always hangouts with her brother and sister-in-law she feel comfortable with him.

“Kids, is it clear for you two?” Mr. Bae looking at Seulgi and Joohyun

“Yes appa/uncle”

“Good” Mr. Bae smile satisfied “Sir, you may proceed”

The lawyer proceeds with will reading. Everything will be under Joohyun with help from Seulgi until Yerim is 21 years old. No objection from any of them so the whole process goes smoothly
