Innocent Smile
Pretending Not To LoveJoo Eun’s POV:
When I went to college the very first working day after that party, I didn’t forget to take along the jacket Ji Woong had lend me the other night. I was early to college as usual and there were hardly any people in the class.
I walked up to my seat in the front and flopped down before I kept glancing out the door every now and then, to see if Ji Woong has come and every single time when it was not him, I just sighed.
I looked at my watch and noticed that it was almost time for the class to start but I didn’t really see Ji Woong anywhere. Suddenly something fell on me and when I looked at it, it was a crumbled paper.
I took it in my hand and looked around. But I didn’t really see anyone who would have thrown it at me. So I just turned to the front when another one hit me on the back of my head.
This time, I looked around first and found this guy sitting on the very end of the room, motioning me to open the crumbled papers. So I hesitatingly opened them and read, ‘Are you looking for me?’ and ‘Why are you tensed?’
My head quickly turned in his direction and looked at him with raised eyebrows. I scribbled on the crumbled paper and threw it in his direction which hit him square in the face. I stifled a giggle that was trying to escape my lips while he glared at me before he opened the paper and read them.
The next moment he stood up and walked up to me before dragging me out of the classroom. He didn’t even bother to stop when we walked past Moon and we only stopped when we both reached some quiet place.
“Don’t you recognize me?” he asked, letting go of my hand.
I looked at him a few minutes, observing the smile on his lips, a total opposite of what it had been a few minutes ago. And then it struck me. “Ji Woong?” I asked, looking at him with wide eyes.
He let out a chuckle. “Yes, I am.”
“You look so different,” I looked at him from head to toe while he laughed out loud at my reaction. “Oh I got your jacket. But it’s in class right now. I got it dry-washed yesterday.”
“You need not have done that.”
“Shouldn’t we get back to class?” I asked, looking at the watch.
“We will go. No hurry!”
He managed to hold me there with small talks for a few more minutes and then we both headed back to our classroom. Moon was still in the class and he didn’t say anything as Ji Woong took me in.
I hesitatingly sat down in my desk while wondering what Moon might say for roaming out during class hours. However, he didn’t say anything; neither to me nor to Ji Woong.
I turned to the girl sitting beside me and nudged her as she was a little too busy ogling at Moon. “What?” she asked, a little irritated.
“Why is Moon still here?” I whispered.
“Prof. is away on yet another conference. So Moon took over for this hour. He informed us about some assignment which we have to submit by next week. I don’t remember what though.” She smiled, cheekily while I just shook my head.
I asked about the details of the assignment to another person and then I started doing some start-up on it. When the class got over for the day, someone stood beside my desk and when I looked up, I saw Moon looking down at me.
“Could I talk to you for a moment?” he asked while I hesitatingly nodded, wondering what the reason could be.
I placed my pen in between my notes as a marker before getting up and following him. When we both reached out, he asked, “Is everything alright?”
“Yes, it is,” I dragged, still wondering what was wrong with him.
“Well, you got dragged by Ji Woong earlier. So I was just wondering,” He replied, “if he caused you any trouble.” He continued.
I smiled widely knowing the reason why he wanted to see me. “No Moon, he didn’t. Thanks for asking.”
He smiled widely, making me blush. “But if he did, don’t hesitate to let me know.” He patted my head and left, leaving me there, blushing like a mad girl.
I don’t know how long I stood there like that until someone shook me a little while later, asking, “Are you alright?”
I snapped out of my momentary daze and looked up at the tall person standing beside me. I blinked a few times blankly before nodding my head. “What did Moon wanted to speak to you about?”
“Um, nothing really. Just things.” I smiled at him. “Okay then, I will see you later, Ji Woong.”
“Going to library?” he looked at me with a knowing smile while I
