Repenting
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
The next morning, James was up a little earlier than usual and even prepared breakfast as he was still worried about his sister. When she later came out, she seemed like her usual self which took him by surprise.
In fact, she started smiling more than usual. Though most thought that she was being cheerful, Jiwoong knew her better. He even caught her lost in her thoughts many times.
When classes got over that evening, she told him that she’s heading home already instead of going over to the library which used to be almost daily routine.
She waved him goodbye and headed to the bus stop while he headed to the library instead. Just like he expected, he found Sooyoon at the usual secret spot where he and Joo Eun usually met.
Jiwoong stormed towards him and grabbed him by the collar before slamming him against the wall. The latter was slightly taken aback by the other males’ presence in there, “How did you –” he started but got cut off instead.
“What did I tell you about hurting her?”
“But she broke up with me, Jiwoong.”
“I don’t ing care. You let her take blame for something she had no clue of and do you have any idea how much hurt that caused her? You caused the break up. It was basically your fault. I already warned you how I wouldn’t hold back anymore if you ever hurt her. She deserves to be treated right.”
Meanwhile, one of Jiwoong’s underlings, who was aware of Jiwoong’s strength and anger, was worried about what he might end up doing to Sooyoon and what consequences that would bring after.
He quickly took off in the direction of the bus stop and luckily found Joo Eun just before she boarded the bus. “Noona!” he grabbed her wrist and stopped her from getting in.
“Shinho? What’s wrong?”
“Noona, Jiwoong hyung!” he panted heavily.
“What happened to Jiwoong?” she got slightly worried.
“Hyung is in the library with Prof. Kim,”
“Moon?” she interrupted.
“No, noona’s boyfriend.”
“What? With Sooyoon?”
“Aish, noona! You better hurry now if you don’t want either of them to get hurt.” He said, still panting while she quickly took off towards their college library.
When she reached there, luckily there was only a few audience. She pushed past them and saw Jiwoong holding Sooyoon’s collar while he was aiming a clenched fist at Sooyoon.
“Jiwoong-ah,” she rushed over and grabbed hold of his clenched fist. “What are you doing?” she glared at him while whispering, “Shhh, let go of his collar.” She patted his other hand while he stared at her for a moment before letting out a sigh and slowly letting go.
She pushed Jiwoong back a little to create some distance between the two males and took a glance at the small audience they were having before she turned towards Sooyoon “I’m sorry, Professor.” She bowed. “He didn’t mean to do it. Apologize now, Jiwoong.”
He glared at her upon hearing it, “but-”
“No buts. Apologize to the professor now. Quick.” She kicked him in the shin.
“Ouch!” he bent over a little and rubbed his shin while Joo Eun took this chance and made him give a bow.
“Once again I’m sorry for the trouble he caused, Professor. Please excuse his behavior just this once.” She bowed once again before turning towards Jiwoong, “Follow me!” she grabbed his hand and led him out of there while he turned towards Sooyoon and smirked, as he followed her out.
When they all came out to a quieter place, she let go off his hand and refused to even look at him in anger, even after he called out to her a few times. “What the hell was that all about?”
“Are you defending him even after the breakup?”
“Jiwoong-ah!” she sighed. “I’m not defending anyone here. Let’s think logically, okay? It’s not easy to stop caring about him overnight, especially when I’m still in love with him. Secondly, did you even think of the consequences of hitting him? He’s a professor for Pete’s sake! I don’t want you to get expelled because of me.”
He smiled at her sheepishly. “So how did you know I was there?”
Without realizing, Joo Eun eyes darted towards Shinho for a second which she quickly averted. However, Jiwoong caught sight of even that brief moment and now, glared at the boy sitting beside him who in turn was starting to crouch in fear.
Suddenly there was a smack on the back of Jiwoong’s head, “Stop glaring at him.” She scolded him while Shinho silently giggled, then she turned to the latter, “And why did you think Jiwoong would hurt him?”
Shinho’s eyes nervously shifted between Jiwoong and Joo Eun while he uttered nothing except “because,” a few times.
“Because he was probably scared the past might repeat.” Jiwoong sighed while she looked at him confused. “I nearly beat someone to death once when I was in the middle school. There was a gang fight and I unconsciously used my martial arts skill on an untrained person which nearly killed him.” He sighed while a silence ensued as she was shocked of the news and was not sure of how to react.
“But I realized my wrongdoings after that and have been regretting what I have done, every single day. I realized that day that I was turning into my father too and I hated it more than anything. I vowed to myself to never do anything like that ever again and I know that wouldn't change the fact that I'm worse than a filth.” Jiwoong had his head hung low and Joo Eun could see the remorse in his face.
She walked over to where he was seated and took him in a hug, "You were a young, foolish boy then. I know it shouldn't be usedas an excuse but you realized your mistake and you are repenting on it. You are mature now and you've been doing well till now. I know that you wouldn't repeat your mistake again. I believe in you." she s
