A Peek into Her Childhood
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
After sending Jiwoong off, Joo Eun turned around and wrapped her arms around the handsome boy who stood there beside her while flashing her his adorable dimples.
She nuzzled her head into his chest, inhaling his sweet scent while he tightened his hold on her. “Shall we head in? It’s cold outside” he asked her a moment later, while she nodded and they both started walking towards her home, hand-in-hand.
Joo Eun knew her brother wouldn’t be home at this time on a Friday night, so she wasn’t bothered about letting Sooyoon in to her home. “Had your dinner?” she questioned as they removed their coats and hung them on the stand.
“Got held up with work,” he smiled at her sheepishly.
She shook her head, “Let me try to fix you something simple to eat.” She walked over to the kitchen while he followed suit.
A few minutes later, Joo Eun finished cooking some dinner with his help and they both grabbed a seat at the table. “Aren’t you eating?” he asked, as he noticed that the table was set only for one person.
“I ate something outside. So not hungry now.”
“I heard you ditched your classes today and so did Jiwoong. Were you both out the whole day?” He asked, trying his best not to sound jealous.
She let out a chuckle, “Yes, but Mijin unnie was there too. It was supposed to be a girl’s day out. But Jiwoong ended up tagging along and unnie tortured him to the core.”
Later, they both were just chilling in her room. She has just come out of shower a few moments ago. “You still have these?” he asked, pointing to the pair of drumsticks that he had supposedly lost, a year ago, which now lay along with her other souvenirs.
“Ah that?” she scratched the back of her neck awkwardly.
“Now that we are going out, tell me the truth. Didn’t you steal them on purpose that day?” he asked her teasingly, pulling her onto his chest while wrapping his arms around her and resting his chin on top of her head.
“Love at first sight? You wish! I was crushing on Moon then, remember?” she back.
“Moon!” his tone changed a little and she heard him let out a soft sigh while his hold loosened a bit too.
She held back her chuckle as she turned around in his hold and wrapped her arms around him. “Are you jealous?”
“Jealous? Me? Pfft. Why would I be?” he replied pretty quickly while she bit her lower lip as something in his tone brought her chuckles.
A few seconds of silence engulfed the two of them before he spoke once again, “Um, just to appease my curiosity, why didn’t you try hitting on Moon? I mean it does looks like he cares for you a lot. So why didn’t you?”
“Because he was off limits?” she paused for a moment, “I don’t know. He was just a crush but you’re my boyfriend now, aren’t you? So don’t worry. I don’t have feelings for him anymore.”
He let out a chuckle hearing that, “I’m not worrying, just wondering. So why is he off limits?”
“Why to think of that now? And you should get back home before my brother returns.”
He ignored her latter statement, “Aish! Is he that great to be off limits?” he muttered under his breath. Maybe his jealousy was really at work now, or maybe it was just his curiosity. Whatever it might be, he didn’t care at that moment. All he wanted was her answer.
Joo Eun finally let out her chuckle, not able to hold it in anymore. “Moon is a professor. Well, an Associate professor to be exact but still a professor nonetheless. And I’m a student. So of course he was off limits.” Something in her words struck him and his hands that were her back froze but she didn’t notice it. “And on a serious note, you should head back home Mr. Kim.”
But there was no response which was quite unusual especially for a situation when she had just called him Mr. Kim. “Sooyoon?” she loosened her hold and slowly moved back a little to stare up at him. “Kim Sooyoon?” she called out to him a little louder this time.
“Huh?” he snapped back to reality and looked down at her with a blank expression.
“Are you alright?” she asked him while he nodded. Though she wasn’t really convinced but decided to let it slide as he looked like he didn’t want to talk about it. “So how about heading home now?”
“Can’t I stay here tonight?” he bent his head down to match her height and asked with the most innocent smile he could muster while his hands rubbed her sides.
“Definitely not, especially not when your hands are acting like this.” She poked his dimples. “Now let me show you out,” she started pushing him gently on his back, leading him towards her room’s door.
However, just when she was about to open her door and push him out to the living room, they heard the front door open and a mild ‘I’m home,’ could be heard.
“Damn! My brother’s home.” She let out a sigh and stopped pushing him out while he laughed, covering his mouth. “Don’t you dare laugh!” she glared at him but of course it had no effect on him.
