Suspension and Probation
Pretending Not To LoveJoo Eun’s POV:
It’s been a week or so since that audition day but I still have those pair of drumsticks with me. Mijin had been so excited that day that she had no patience to wait for him and return it to him while I didn’t have the heart to leave it out there since it kind of looked like his treasure.
I have had the stick in my bag all the time whenever I was in the campus and whenever I had free time, I hung around the Music department, hoping to come across him. Well, it was only an excuse I know.
I actually used this opportunity to catch a glimpse of Moon and I sure did. Catch a glimpse of Moon, I mean. But I never came across that guy in the campus. Not even once. How weird!
What was his name again? I kind of forgot what he said his name was. All I can remember is his smile with those dimples. Well, I did see him in campus once. From far away to be precise. But before I could get to where he was, he was already gone.
Once I nearly lost my bag in the campus, so the next day I decided to keep the pair of drumsticks at home and then when I happen to come across him someday, I would tell him to meet me at the same place the following day so I could return the sticks to him.
But that never happened anytime. Come across him, I mean. I’ve even asked around in the Music department but no one seems to know of his existence. I started to wonder whether it was all part of my imagination or something, but the sticks spoke otherwise.
One day, I got into a little trouble in the campus. Well, if you ask me, I would still say I did nothing wrong. I just stood up for what was right in a clash between seniors and juniors.
It was such a silly issue. The junior has supposedly sat down on the spot which was unofficially reserved for this group of seniors. Though the junior girl had apparently apologized for not knowing that, this group of seniors couldn’t just let it go.
Soon the junior girl was backed up by us, some juniors and the exchange of heated words turned into exchange of slaps and hits while the boys just watched the fight on the sideline, irrespective of them being the seniors or the juniors.
Initially, I just tried to stop both the groups from making it a big issue. But eventually I got dragged into the fist fight and trying to protect myself, I ended up hurting one of the seniors a little badly.
As if that wasn’t enough, our college secretary happened to witness it while passing by. Should I say more? I ended up getting summoned to the principal’s office after class.
I let out a sigh and walked up to the principal’s office, hoping that this news wouldn’t reach my brother’s ears. I reached the principal’s office and his assistant at the front desk asked me to take a seat as the principal was talking with someone else.
I sat myself down on one of the empty seats and waited a little impatiently, while strumming my fingers on my thighs when I started to hear some commotions inside. I heard our principal’s voice raise a little and was scolding someone.
A few minutes later, the door opened and the drummer guy walked out. I kept staring at him with raised eyebrows as he walked up to the principal's assistant. She then asked him take a seat and wait for some time, then she said the same thing over to me.
Sooyoon came over and sat down right across me. “Got in some trouble?” I asked while he looked up.
“You can say that, I guess.” he smirked. “What are you here for?”
I let out a sigh, “Got into some trouble as well. But that’s a long story. So maybe some other time?” I smiled as he nodded. “Oh, Sooyoon-sshi! By the way, I have got your drumsticks with me. You forgot it on the chair that day.”
He was looking at me with raised brows. “But I don’t have it with me now. It’s back at home.” I let out a sigh while he was listening intently. “It looked like the sticks were of some importance to you. I was afraid of losing it. So I kept it at home.” I rambled.
“Miss Lee, you can go in now.” The assistant announced.
“I will return it to you the next time. It’s safe with me. So don’t worry.” I tried assuring him as I made my way to the principal’s room.
He let out a chuckle, “Let’s think of that later. Now just worry about facing the princi. Best of luck.” He reminded me with a smirk while I nodded my head, gulping in nervousness.
I walked into the principal’s room, hesitatingly and immediately knew he was going to bite my head off. And that’s exactly what happened.
He never gave me even a single chance to explain my point of view. Apparently the girl who got injured because of me was some bigshot in the college management. After long boring lectures, I was suspended for ten days.
