Who's the guardian?
Pretending Not To LoveA/N Sorry for the long wait. I don't want to make any excuse. Guess I was just a little unmotivated and hence lazy. Anyway, as an apology, I decided to do a double update. So look for another chapter in a few hours or maybe tomorrow ♥
No One’s POV:
After Sooyoon got admitted in the hospital, Joo Eun decided to stay by his side and so she asked Jiwoong to get back home. However, he couldn’t bring himself to leave just like that.
But at the same time, his heart couldn’t stand the sight of Joo Eun taking care of Sooyoon. So he rested himself on one of the empty chairs on the other side of the waiting area.
After an hour or two, he went back in to check up on Joo Eun and saw her asleep, still seated on the chair with her head resting on the bed near Sooyoon’s hand while holding onto it.
He borrowed an extra pair of blanket from one of the nurses who were on duty and covered Joo Eun with it. Then he continued to stand there for a while, just staring at her and a small smile broke out on his lips, seeing her sleep with slightly parted.
He took out his phone and snapped a picture of her. “Aigoo! Why are you so cute?” he whispered as he softly pinched her cheeks playfully before tucking some stray hairs behind her ear. “Sleep well Joo Eun-ah,” he gently kissed her cheeks before standing back up and letting out a sigh.
Jiwoong failed to notice the hand that became a tight fist upon seeing the kiss earlier and remained so until he left the scene, despite the pain that shot from the IV line running through it.
The nurse who was on rounds, checking up on the patients, noticed it and had to stop him from clenching his fist. She had to reinsert the IV tube on a different vein and she left after giving him strict briefing and instructions.
After the nurse went out of sight, Sooyoon turned to his side as slow as he can, so as to not disturb Joo Eun's sleep and just stared at her. He patted the top of her hand gently while a small smile appeared on his lips.
Hours later, Joo Eun woke up and saw Sooyoon sleeping on his sides while facing her. She pulled up his blanket and covered him properly, keeping a careful watch on his IV line before keeping her hand on his forehead and checking his temperature.
He woke up a few minutes later and she was immediately on her feet. “Sooyoon-ah, are you awake? Are you feeling better now?” she asked as she assisted him to sit up straight while he just nodded with a small smile. “Just a moment,” she took off somewhere, leaving him puzzled.
She came back a moment later, dragging one of the duty doctors along with her. He did a check up on Sooyoon, “He seems to be doing better now. But still let’s wait until the test reports come and if everything is alright, then he can discharge later.” The doctor informed her and left.
“Why did he explain them all to you? He could have directly told me. It isn’t like I’m a small kid or unconscious.” Sooyoon wondered.
“Maybe because I told him last night that I’m your guardian?” Joo Eun stuck out her tongue at him while he just let out a chuckle.
“Are you sure he’s a qualified doctor?” Sooyoon asked with a grin.
“Why?” she asked, genuinely curious.
“Anyone can see that you are the kid here who’s in need of a guardian. I wonder on what basis he believed you could be someone’s guardian.” Sooyoon shook his head with a smirk.
“Yah!” Joo Eun whined, holding her hand back from hitting him while he just chuckled.
Sometime later, the doctor returned for rounds, with a nurse who was holding the report chart in her hand. He took them in his hand and read through them.
“Miss Lee, the patient seems to be alright except for some viral infection and possibly excessive stress. I have prescribed some medicines for him. Please make sure that he takes them prope
