Just A Warning
Half Past Eleven [MINOR REVISIONS]
OC included. Friendship!Jundong
Eunmi was once informed by Donghyuk during one of their chats that Goo Junhwe is the type to not show affection and concern even if he's close with someone. He told her not to be scared of Junhwe because apparently despite his cold looks and nonchalant behavior, he's a good guy.
Even with that reminder from her boyfriend, Eunmi still can't help but be a bit scared of Goo Junhwe on the day Donghyuk introduced her to his team as his girlfriend.
It's a shame because the other members were all welcoming and kind, telling her to take care of Donghyuk and to tell them if he makes her cry. Donggie vehemently vowed he won't which caused everyone to laugh.
Everyone, except Junhwe - who has been sending her the glares since she came. Eunmi thought she might have said or done something that ticked him off, but the other iKON members and even her own boyfriend were acting like nothing's wrong. She recalled Donghyuk's words in her head about Junhwe to calm herself and for awhile, it worked. Goo Junhwe still didn't stop with the scary stares though.
The only time she was able to breathe was when Junhwe told them he's going to buy something from the convenience store. She took it as a chance to go to the restroom and freshen up. However, as soon as she went through the dimly-lit halls towards the restroom, Junhwe appeared in front of her.
She gasped and almost tumbled down but he caught her by the arm before immediately letting her go. A sudden thought to run away appeared in her mind but it might complicate things further so she just stood there. It's not like he'll do something bad...right?
"Junhwe-ssi." She nervously greeted, her fists curling on the hem of her shirt. "Is there something you need? I thought you're going to buy something."
He stared at her for a few more moments before speaking up.
"How long did you and Donghyuk know each other?"
Eunmi blinked. What?
"Did you hear me?"
"Ah, yes." She gulped. "About 6 months. We've known each other for 6 months."
Junhwe mumbled something along the lines of "...too short..." before asking again.
"Who asked who first?"
"It’s oppa."
"And you answered right away?"
"...No. I thought about it for a few nights before answering him."
He gave her a funny look. "What took you so long?"
Eunmi still wasn't sure why she's having an impromptu interview near a restroom and she has at least five questions in her head in regards to Junhwe's odd behavior, but because he's an important friend and brother of her boyfriend, she still answered.
"Because I'm afraid I might burden him if I agreed to be his girlfriend. I love him, but if being with me makes things harder for him, I wouldn't want that."
Junhwe regarded her answer with a nod. "Then why did you agree in the end?"
"...because he said I'm his happiness, the same way he's mine..."
There was a moment of silence after that. Junhwe was still looking at her with analytical eyes but his expression softened. Eunmi noticed it.
"You really love Donghyuk?" He asked her as if confirming.
"Yes."
"Okay." Junhwe released a breath as if he’s been holding it in. "Sorry about this. I just have to confirm that you’re not playing him."
Eunmi stared at him with widened eyes. Instantly, the confusion she felt was gone and all the questions in her head was answered.
"Oh."
"Look, Donghyuk is the kindest person I know. He's so kind it pisses me off sometimes." The vocalist continued speaking. "But that's exactly why I don't want him being in a relationship with a half-hearted girl. He definitely won't make you cry so rest assured on that."
Eunmi smiled. "Thank you, and I know that."
"Good. Though I'm giving you a warning. You can't make Kim Donghyuk cry or break down because of you ok?" His eyes hardened.
"The others might laugh and welcome you like that, but they're really protective of him. Even Chanwoo. The last thing we want to see is a depressed and a crying mess Donghyuk because of some girl who didn't appreciate him. That's like darkening our sun with black clouds, which is totally not cool. So please don't do anything that will hurt him."
His expression turned more serious.
"Donghyukkie’s my brother. I don't want to see my brother hurt. You understand?"
Eunmi ought to be threatened because that’s obviously what Junhwe is trying to pull on her, but the fright and uneasinees she initially felt with him was gone now. Instead, she had to prevent herself from squealing in delight and feels. What's that about Goo Junhwe being cold again? Because with what she's hearing and seeing from him now that they've talked face-to-face, he's very sweet. Her boyfriend’s right. It’s just a misunderstood exterior.
"Yes I understand." She answered, now smiling widely. She bowed. "Please watch over me Junhwe-ssi."
"Yah," the vocalist stepped back, surprised at her action. "Don't bow. You're making this awkward--
"Eunmi? Junhwe?" Someone suddenly cut in. They both looked at the side to see their topic of interest standing there and giving them a confused look. Junhwe groaned.
"Junhwe, I thought you're going to the convenience store?" Donghyuk said as he approached them. He reached to hold Eunmi's hand and looked at her.
"And aren't you freshening up? Don't tell me Junhwe's asking you for extra cash?"
Eunmi laughed and shook her head while Junhwe smacked the other male on the shoulder.
"Yah, what the hell are you talking about? Why would I ask your girlfriend for cash? We're just having small talk here." Junhwe slipped Eunmi a warning look. She immediately understood that he wants their conversation to be a secret.
"Junhwe-ssi changed his mind about the convenience store and stayed here instead to me back."
"Really?" Donghyuk glanced up at the taller male and grins. "Thanks Junhwe."
Eunmi thought Junhwe would shrug it off or say something nice in return, but he crossed his arms and quirked a brow at Donggie.
"What, that's it? You're not even suspicious of the two of us together like this?"
Eunmi's ears perked at that. She's thankful her boyfriend didn't misunderstand the two of them but Junhwe's question made her curious. She and Junhwe watched expectantly as Donghyuk shrugged and grinned.
"No way I'm gonna be jealous. You're not that kind of person and Eunmi's not your type of girl anyway. Besides, you're too cool and kind for backhanded stuff."
Ah, the fluffly feeling inside her is back again. Eunmi smiled at her boyfriend's answer before peeking at Junhwe's reaction. He wasn't smiling, but has a few tints of pink of his cheeks.
"...Buttering me up won't entice me to give you midnight snacks, just so you know."
"Sure. I got Chanwoo covering that for me already."
"What? When did that happen?"
Eunmi laughed lightly as she watched the two exchange retorts like long-time close friends - which they were, and are more than that. It’s very clear to her now. They are brothers and despite the lack of straight affectionate words from either of them, it’s obvious they care for each other a lot.
She's happy to witness such a thing, and won't do anything to break their trust.
