“Jungkook!”

The school was literally in a ruckus because the school festival is in two weeks. Everyone rushed to finish their preparations and works, the school council had demanded everyone finish their work a week before the d-day. The week had been dedicated for the festival’s preparation so now there’s no current class going on.

“Yes?” the black-haired boy responds as he turned his back, his eyes met with a bunch of students (he noticed that one of them was bringing a camera and a notepad), “What is it?”

“You’re in the basketball club right?”

“Huh?” Jungkook tilted his head, “Yeah, I am—,”

“Can you tell us how did you bring back the club together?”

“Well, I’m not sure—,”

“We heard you got really close to Taehyung from the start, can you tell us how does it happen?”

“I—,”

Suddenly a cough was heard from behind the bunch, making them turn and met with a flock of red hair who was abseloutly not amused with the situation. They turned really tense at the stare as their leader greets him awkwardly.

“O-oh! Hello, Jimin-sunbaenim!” he says as he tried to smile at him, “How are you?”

“Currently pretty pissed to see you break the rules again, Choi Hansol,” the boy responded as he crossed his rams on his chest, “What did I say about applying a permit first before interviewing someone?”

“Sorry,” he grinned sheepishly, “I kind of forgot about it..,”

“Well you better leave Jungkook here now before I decide to put your club on a temporary ban again,” a loud gasp was heard from the same boy. Jimin then turned to Jungkook as the bunch disperses, patting his shoulder, “Come now, Jungkook. The art club is going to start in a minute!”

“Sunbae—I mean, hyung!” the younger boy turned to him, “It’s time for announcements right?”

“Yeah,” the red-haired boy smiled as they entered the already crowded club room, “You must be giddy right?”

“Not really,” Jungkook pouted a little, “I don’t think I’ll get chosen. My points aren’t that high,”

“Hey, don’t get so down that quickly,” Jimin ruffled his hair before he goes seperate ways with the boy, going in front of the room to make the announcement, “Who knows, you might be the highest!”

The black-haired boy only shrugged before he makes his way to the very back of the room, his favorite place in the club. By now, he already had some friends that greets him when he appears in the meeting, but still, the place was the most comfortable place that he has.

“Alright everyone, good morning,” the club president started as his greeting was immediately replied by the members, “As all you know, school festival is in two weeks and I bet every one of you already prepared an artwork for the exhibition right?”

A loud cheers and yes from the club members was heard, making a room in a little ruckus. Jimin quickly shushes them down as he hold a piece of paper in his hand.

“And you all had already been wondering about the most highest point achiever and the main room exhibition winner right?”

Another cheer.

“Well, get your prayers ready! Because we’re going to announce it now!” squeals and screams was heard all over the room, “I’m sure every one of you had been working hard for last and this semester, so I hope none of you get disappointed when you’re not chosen. Keep in mind that every work you have done is your masterpiece and it’s not a waste of time. Now let’s cut the chase and announce the winner, shall we? I know all of you still have other things to do for the festival,”

The room was in complete silence now. Girls holding their friends hand in anticipation and the boys gritted their teeths in nervousness. Jungkook in the other hand, was too busy playing Piano Tiles in his phone, confident that he wouldn’t get chosen.

“And the highest point belongs to...,” Jimin smiled at the audience, “Jeon Jungkook!”

Gasps and cheers was heard from the crowd, girls mainly squealing at how Jungkook is the winner as how they predicted and some boys groaned and frowned that they didn’t got chosen. The said boy was still playing on his phone (he had his earphone on), scrunching his face occacionally while concentrating on the game until one of the guys there nudged him.

“Yah, Jeon Jungkook!” he says as he took off one of the plugs out of his ears. The black-haired boy just looked at him in annoyance, “What?”

“You didn’t hear? You got chosen!”

Jungkook tilted his head in confusion, “Chosen for what?”

“The main exhibition, Jeon! Your points are the highest among all of us!”

A really loud squeal boomed from the art club room.

“So that explains why he looked like he just took some happy pills,” Namjoon stared at him in awe while Jimin nodded as he took a spoonful of his lunch.

The boys was currently on their break, with Taehyung and Namjoon preparing for a quiz by the exact sciences clubs of the school (the silver-haired boy recently went back into his biology club), Seokjin preparing a somekind of bakery stand (finally the Home Economics club allowed him to be part of the festival), Yoongi judging the perfomers and handling the music club’s performances for the festival (he tried so hard not to bias at his younger brother at the auditioning and he had just to forgot to tell his brother that he’s judging that Jihoon kind of freezes a little before performing), Hoseok and Jimin being so busy with the council and Jungkook had just done his chores for his class’s haunted.

“Wow, not even you had the chance to get that main room, Jimin,” Yoongi says in amusement as he stares at the black-haired boy who currently has flowers and rainbows printed in his eyes, his smile getting bigger and bigger.

“What can I say, he got the talent,” the red-haired boy smiled, “But please, someone wake him up before the lunch time is up and.. ugh...,”

Hoseok groaned as Jimin’s words reminded him again of the overwhelming work, “I’m going to be dead before the festivals can even begin,”

“More equations,” Taehyung suddenly sobbed, “I don’t want to do it anymore!”

“Hey guys, lighten up!” Seokjin says with a big smile, the only person besides Jungkook who wasn’t bummed with the work (he even loved how much baking that he had to do), “At least we got practice today!”

“Ah,” finally Jungkook snapped out of his celebration session, “Sorry guys, I can’t go to practice today,”

“That’s fine,” the blonde-haired boy of the group patted his shoulder, “But why?”

The younger boy gulped a little, “I... have somewhere to go,”

Before the boys could ask more about Jungkook’s sudden schedule, the bell already rang and signing that they had to go back to work.

Jungkook bits his lower lip as he stared at the familiar silver gate in front of him.

He had told his mom that he would do it this day—he had even promised himself that he’ll face him this day. It’s been too long since he’s gone and minus the funeral not a single time that Jungkook had visited his last resting place. Even though he dreamed about him all night and mourned on his death, he had never got the guts to just even glance at his grave.

Suddenly the memories flooded back as he touched the gate. His eyes grew horrified as the images flashed in his mind, shivers sent to all over his body. The atmosphere gets too suffocating for him as he tried to push the gate open, but it was futile.

He gritted his teeth tightly. Why can’t he do this?

*******

“I still think that we should go for pizza.”

The rest of the basketball club has finished practice and now they’re currently heading out to get something to eat first before going to their respective home. Seokjin was pretty bummed because he actually had offered them to eat his cooking at his house first, but Namjoon demanded that the boy had already exhausted himself too much for the day to do more cooking.

“I thought we agreed on samgyeopsal!” Hoseok frowned as he looked to the pouting Taehyung, who currently craved for Italian dishes.

This time it was Jimin who looked to them, “Wait, it wasn’t udon?”

“It’s samgyeopsal,” the oldest of the crowd was still pouting as he walked, making Namjoon felt a little slight of guilt, but his decision was fixed.

“Guys, why don’t we just go the market then we can just chose whatever we want—wait is that Jungkook?”

Suddenly Namjoon pointed to a seemingly familiar boy, standing in front of a graveyard gate as he holds his right hand while downcasting. As soon as the boys got closer to him, it was clear why was Jungkook’s busy that day.

The boy was looking like he’s in gloom, his fringe shadowing his face as he kept looking down, gritting his teeth a little as his legs was visibly trembling. The rest of the guys was contemplating what to do to him, but Yoongi casually walked forward to him.

“Hyung? What are you doing?” Taehyung said as he half-whispered half-shouted on him.

“Returning the favor,” he smirked at them, “It’s him who needs us this time,”

******

As Jungkook was just going to turn back, yet again breaking another promise, suddenly a hand patted his shoulder and making him jolt a little. But when his eyes was met with  a familiar bunch crowding him, he immediately stop tensing.

“He’s there, right?” Yoongi gestured him to get in with tilting his head, “Go ahead, we’ll be here. Don’t make him wait,”

The black-haired boy stunned as the older boy smiled at him, the others nodding in agreement. He then finally sighed as he nodded steadily, turning his gaze back to the silver gate that he had been failing to open.

“Here goes nothing,”

The gate creaked as it moved open, unveiling the rather peaceful scenery to the black-haired boy. It’s been such a long time since he last got here and it was definetly isn’t as depressing as it was before. He wasn’t sure was it because he finally had accepted the reality of his brother gone from his sights or what, but he was feeling kind of at ease when he stepped in the grounds, contradicting on how he had thought before.

It wasn’t hard to find his brother’s grave. His mom had seemingly visited recently as the chrysanthemums placed there was still fresh and the photo that was placed on it was clean. Jungkook stared at the photo as the boy in the potrait had a really soft smile plastered on his face, as if he was trying to comfort him in this situation.

“Hey, uhh, hyung.

Chapter 35: This is one of the best fanfics I've ever read. It's rare to see a story that's focusing on friendship, slice of life and a hint of angst with no romance or even a hint of it. You are really a great author who made this fantastic story. I salute you.

Chapter 32: This is actually good! Aside for a few typo in the first few chapters, your writing is good. The plot flows nicely and it ended prettily. Great job!
