Chapter 35
· Wounded Hearts ·Chapter 35:
The ride home was a quiet one. Everyone in their own respective thoughts as they looked outside to watch as it started to snow. Namjoon took everyone home, because it was starting to get late.
"Do you girls want to go back to the hospital?" Namjoon asked as he looked at them through the rearview mirror.
"If it's not too much, yes please" Jungmee said.
"Of course it's not too much" he chuckled "I'll probably stay for a little bit as well" he continued, they drove down the snowy streets until they reach the hospital and walked up together to Hoseok's room.
"Good to see you guys again" Hoseok smiled as he greeted them. The girls and Namjoon went to join Yoongi and their parents by Hoseok.
"How are you feeling?" Minhee asked, she couldn't stop stealing glances at his arms, it pained her to see so many marks and to even think about the stories behind each of them. Hoseok reached and gently ruffled Minhee's hair and smiled. Yoongi came and stood next to Jungmee and placed his arm on her shoulder as they all stood around their brother.
"I promise I am doing well. I can actually get discharged by tomorrow" he said.
"Really? That's amazing!" Jungmee chimed in. Hoseok reached and held her hand. It was clearly evident how much Hoseok loved his little sisters, you would've never known that they weren't blood related. Their step-mom and father watched at how close their children had become with one another, and the sight warmed their hearts immensely.
"It's so wonderful how close the children have gotten since we've been married" she said as she stood next to her husband.
"I agree, it makes me happy. Gives me motivation to work harder" he smiled as he kissed the top of her head.
"How are you holding up honey?" she asked as she gently carressed his face.
"What do you mean sweetheart?" he asked
"It's almost your wife's death anniversary again. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you every year" she said as she grabbed both his hands. He felt kind of bad, he tried so badly to push away thoughts of his past wife, that he admittedly forgot about her. Not that he did it on purpose, but it had slipped his mind that his wife's death anniversary was coming up. He felt embarassed that his wife now had to remind him.
"I'll be alright sweetheart. Thank you for checking on me" he smiled as he leaned in to gently peck her lips.
Minhee found herself wandering back to the window seat again. She sat there, with her thoughts continuously flooding with her mom. It's been almost 5 or 6 years since her death, and yet it feels as though Minhee can feel her mother everywhere she is. "I understand if he has to get married again" the words her mother spoke in her dream echoed through her mind. Jungmee came and sat next to her, if there was anyone who knew Minhee best it was her.
"Thinking about mom again?" she asked as she placed her hand over her sisters shoulder.
"I'm so dumb. I just can't seem to let her go" Minhee sniffled.
"Who says you have to let her go? You don't ever have to let mom go, as a matter of fact I don't think she would want us to. But I think she would want us to be happy with her memory rather than sad" Jungmee said as she scooted closer to her sister. Minhee just smiled as she laid her head down on her shoulder.
"I feel so selfish" Minhee said as her eyes wandered to her parents.
"Why do you feel selfish?" Jungmee asked.
"I love Ms. Jung. I love her, I promise I do. I am so grateful her as well as Yoongi and Hoseok came to us, and how much she has loved us and taken care of us. But everytime I look at them being a lovey dovey with each other, my heart stings a little simply because she's not mom" she chuckled a little but then her smile quickly faded as she looked at the ground. Jungmee just sat there and looked at her sister, her heart felt sad to see her going through what she was. Jungmee couldn't deny that there were times where she felt the exact same way she did.
"Hey my darlings" they heard a vo
