An Evil Maknae's Guide to MotherhoodA/N: Hi, all! Here’s the next chapter! Sorry it took a couple of months (well, at least it’s not half a year like last time xD ;-;). Work’s been killing me, and… yeah. That’s pretty much it. Work’s killing me.
Anyway, here’s the next chapter! Let’s see how Kyuhyun’s doing on his own!
Book 2: The (Crazy) Baby Years
Chapter 3: Haggard
It’s been one day.
Only one freakin’ day.
And it felt like it’s already been an eternity to Kyuhyun.
The sink was piled with dishes. Litter was scattered all over the small living room. Doors along the hallway were wide open, an assortment of Kyuhyun’s and Minhyun’s things spilling out of them. Food and ingredients were covering the kitchen counter and smearing the wooden dining table. Heck, even the laundry basket at the corner was almost full already.
How in the heck did all that happen?
They’ve only been on their own at the apartment for one day!
What caused all this mess?!
Well, seeing as Minhyun had been in his crib for most of the day, there was only one other suspect left.
Cho Kyuhyun.
Who was currently walking around the apartment, eyes wide with confusion and incredulity, wondering how on earth his house had gotten into its current state.
Of course, the evil maknae couldn’t even tell that it was he himself who had caused all the mess. He was a self-proclaimed genius, but he was also selectively oblivious. Oblivious to his own fails, that is.
Ignorance is a bliss, indeed.
“What happened to the house, Minhyunnie?” Kyuhyun asked in bewilderment, scratching his head as he walked into Minhyun’s room. He was asking his one and a half month-old son as though hoping that the baby would know the answer to his question.
(Oh, Kyuhyun.)
Upon the entrance of his mother (“I’m his father, dammit!” Kyuhyun would insist), Minhyun woke up from his nap and yawned up at his mother. He stretched out his arms to his mother, and Kyuhyun quickly picked him up. Though the maknae was quite careful to hold Minhyun away from the tomato sauce stain on his shirt.
‘How did that even get there?’ Kyuhyun asked to himself, looking at the stain as he carried Minhyun out of his room. He didn’t recall even eating anything with tomato sauce during the day.
Oh, well.
Now that Minhyun was awake, Kyuhyun was sure the baby would be asking for his baby bottle of milk in a few minutes. Minhyun always wanted a bottle after a nap. And before a nap. And before and after baths. And while he was looking at the mobile of cute toys that circled over his crib. And—well, Minhyun always wanted a bottle whenever he had a chance to drink one, period.
Minhyun generally wasn’t a fussy baby, but if you don’t get his milk bottle to him soon enough, be prepared for a bawling baby that seems intent on proving that his parents had amazing vocal prowess.
Food. It was always about food.
So, to prevent his little Minhyunnie from being a grumpy baby that’s “deprived” of food, Kyuhyun made his way to the kitchen to prepare a bottle for Minhyun.
And, young he may be, Minhyun might have blinked when he saw the chaotic state of the kitchen.
“I don’t know how it became like this, either,” Kyuhyun shrugged at his son, a weary look on his face. He couldn’t even recall what he did most of the day. He tried to prepare breakfast (the keyword is “tried”). Gave Minhyun a bath, and then he himself also hit the shower. Slouched about in front of the television. Tried to make something edible for lunch (again: “tried”). In-between all that, he was making milk bottles for Minhyun.
For most people, doing those things wouldn’t result to a house that looked as though an atomic bomb hit it. Not for Kyuhyun, though. He was hapless with chores, and he was hapless enough that he didn’t even know how he made such a mess.
Kyuhyun wandered around the kitchen, looking for a clean baby bottle for Minhyun. The only ones that were in plain sight right now were the dirty ones that stood beside the towering piles of dishes in the sink. He was pretty sure that he and Hankyung bought lots of baby bottles, but Kyuhyun just can’t seem to find one now, for some strange reason.
(The reason was that it’s
