Book 1: Impossible? It's Possible!
Chapter 1: Broken
It was another beautiful, multi-colored ocean. The thousands of differently colored lightsticks flashed and lit up the venue. It was as if many kinds of gemstones were glittering, illuminating not only the place but also the faces of the people on the stage.
It was another stunning sight.
It was another SMTown concert.
Different colors, different fandoms, all gathered together. Just as the different groups and artists of SM Entertainment are gathered to perform together tonight.
Unknown to the fans, however, the bright smiles on the idols’ faces are only for show. They didn’t know the strain and tension brewing in the whole agency (the management and the artists all included) for the past few months.
The show must go on, as is often said, and the idols had to beam at everyone and pretend that they were all having fun together on the stage… when the opposite is actually true.
As the evening wore on and the end of the concert approached, the SM idols sang one last song for their fans. The fans, still thankfully blissfully oblivious to the tension, shouted and cheered. The cheers and screams got louder as more fan service is done. The popular “couples” stood together in pairs as they sang their parts in the song.
One of these fan service pairings was one that the management decided to promote intensively just a few months ago- Changtoria.
As the said pair sang their part together, with Changmin’s arm draped over Victoria’s shoulders, the other idols couldn’t help but glance (some warily, some worriedly, but most pitifully) at a certain person near the back of the stage.
Kyuhyun was not tormenting the other idols, not even his Super Junior hyungs, like it was usual for him to do so during concerts.
Instead, he was trying his best not to glare at the sight of Changtoria and maintain the happy smile on his face for the fans.
But it was hard.
And even harder than maintaining his smile was trying not to let his tears escape.
For such a big venue, you’d think they’d have more space for dressing rooms in this place.
But, no. There was only one dressing room for the boys and one dressing room for the girls. At least the dressing rooms were on the larger side, but there were still a lot of SM idols crammed into them.
Not to mention that there's also the said tension that was going on in the company.
In the boys’ dressing room, in particular, hardly anyone was talking as they changed out of their costumes into their normal clothes. If anyone spoke, it was only out of the most necessary times. Even the staff was quite silent as they assisted the idols.
The air was so thick with tension and you could cut through it with a bread knife.
DBSK was changing clothes in one side of the room. Super Junior, at the opposite side. The two normally very close groups let the other groups and artists between them as a sort of human barrier.
And nobody failed to notice that the Super Junior maknae was dressing at top speed, obviously desperate to get out the dressing room as fast as possible.
The room was large and packed with people, but Kyuhyun could still just feel his presence from the other side of the room. And he couldn’t bear to be around that right now. It had already been a few months, but at the same time, it had only been a few months. It was still too soon…
The DBSK maknae, for his part, was sending longing looks to Super Junior’s side of the room. To the Super Junior maknae, to be exact.
Everybody also noticed this.
Except Kyuhyun, of course, who was mindfully keeping eyes averted from that direction.
Having finished dressing, Kyuhyun grabbed his bag and walked out of the room before anyone could stop him. And the look on Changmin’s face made it clear that he wanted to stop him.
As the DBSK maknae dropped everything and made to follow him, he found his way blocked by Kangin and Shindong. Standing side-by-side, the two formed a formidable wall, preventing Changmin from going after their maknae.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Leeteuk said dangerously, coming up behind Changmin.
Changmin glanced back at him. “Leeteuk hyung-“
“You lost the right to call me hyung when you broke my maknae’s heart!”
“He can’t even call you hyung anymore? Isn’t that just a bit too much?” Jaejoong frowned.
“We’re the ones w
