Kyungho’s Point of View   “SHIWON!” Yes, she is here. I keep fighting against Shiwon when Hannah’s voice is heard, she is not in the room, she is walking our way and I remember she was outside. Shiwon turns around with me held tightly in his arms, he doesn’t seem to have a difficulty holding on to me, but Hannah doesn’t look happy, and she looks confused too as if she doesn’t know if we are playing around or not. “What are you doing?” she asks. “It’s a game,” Shiwon smiles widely, lying without a problem, “Whatever he says, it is not true.” The look in her eyes makes him drop me. I don’t know what to say. If I say the truth, will she believe me? Because Shiwon just said whatever comes out of me, it won’t be true. “He tricked me into looking for candy in Minho Hyung’s room, then let Minho catch me and get mad at me and then he laughed at me and then he wouldn’t let me tell you so he chased me and I am not lying I am telling the truth,” I say quickly to not have anyone interrupt me. “He did wrong!” Hannah grimaces though. “You, what? You were looking for candy in someone else’s room…? Why?” “Because…” I glance at Shiwon. “He told me to.” “I didn’t,” Shiwon simply shakes his head. “Hyung told me there is a secret stash of candy in there and told me to get it while he kept guard but he didn’t so Minho caught me,” I repeat with a whine. “And he laughed at me, he planned it.” Hannah sighs. She starts walking towards us, or towards the room, and maybe she finds it silly that she won’t even care about it, but she comes up to us and presses her finger against Shiwon’s forehead. “I told you to stop doing that!” she scolds him, making me smile. Yes. He gets what he deserve, Shiwon. “Stop teaching him these silly things and make him do those things,” she tells him before turning to me, looking angry but not that angry, “And you, stop following him when you know he only do these things for a laugh.” She pushes my forehead too, but not as hard and serious as she had done on Shiwon. Shiwon is rubbing his forehead. “Now, have you apologized to Minho?” she asks. I pout when looking at the floor. “Both of you, go apologize together, now,” Hannah tells us. “Minho liked it,” Shiwon says as an excuse. “I don’t care. What if you had found some candy? Where you going to steal it? Idiots, go apologize now.” She doesn’t go with us, and when going down the stairs, Shiwon lightly hits the back of my head with his palm. “It’s your fault, little one.” “It’s your fault, Hyung!” I whine. “If you hadn’t told her, we wouldn’t have to go apologize.” “If you hadn’t tricked me, there wouldn’t be anything to apologize about!” “Watch your tongue, little one.” I give him a glare. “You should teach me better, Hyung,” I mutter at him, pouting when he looks at me. Then he smiles. “Next time, I’ll teach you how not to get caught.” I smile at his words. “Really?” I ask. “I’m a professional.” “But it’s bad to steal.” “Your sister can buy new candy next time,” Shiwon smirks and he puts his hand on my head. “Now, you go apologize.” He stops at the last step of the stair, and I stare at him in surprise. “Hyung!” “Go, go,” he waves his hand at me, smirking. “Hyung, I’ll tell Nuna-” He pushes my back when following me, muttering that I always have “tell Nuna” up my sleeve. “It’s bad that I am older than her, but she sure can keep me in a leash.” It is the power of 5 Pieces, the ladies have told me that many times. “Hyung,” I start to say, aware of the cameras but I know Hannah won’t see it until it airs, “Can she scold Emelia the way she scolds you?” “Why are you asking that?” “Because… maybe Emelia can help us the next time, and we won’t get in trouble.” Shiwon smiles down at me, stopping his steps. He raises his hand at me. “Clever boy, aren’t you?” I laugh when giving him a high-five. We knew Minho didn’t take it the wrong way, he is as mischievous like Shiwon at times, and he is more curious about Hannah’s reaction than our apology. He jokes around by telling me Shiwon is old school, that I should come to Minho to be sneaky. I got a few people to teach me, though I know Hannah won’t like it, it is fun having them try to teach me. Minho keeps hugging me while we are in his room, but we don’t stay for long because the show is starting so Minho has to work, and that also means Shiwon will warm up for his performance with Hannah. Coming back to the dressing-room I sit down next to Hannah by the makeup table. I put my feet on her chair, bouncing lightly but she doesn’t seem to notice as she is getting a touch on her makeup. “Kyungho, please stop,” the stylist Chae Hwan begs instead. I put down my feet, and then I roll my chair closer to hers. “Nuna,” I whisper, “Are you in on Emelia’s surprise later?” “Mm… We’re doing it after my schedule,” she answers. “At home?” “Mm,” she answers. I look at Chae Hwan, who is the reason Hannah’s answer are so simple since she is fixing Hannah’s makeup. I lean forward to see my sister’s face, covered with makeup. She wore makeup when she arrived from a schedule she had this morning in Japan, but Chae Hwan has transformed that makeup into a different style. For [New Me] Hannah looks different with the makeup she uses; no, she always looks different with the makeup she has for the stage. Hannah starts smiling and her hand is put in front of my face. “What?” she asks. “Nothing,” I answer and lean back. She gives me a glance, sneaking with it because of her stylist. “Nuna, your eyes still look tired.” Her hand slaps my forehead and I laugh, hurrying away from her to not have her kick me too. For the next half hour, Hannah is warming up her voice and body, practicing with her dancers. I practice the dance with them, just for fun, and when they leave for their performance I stay in the room to cheer them on from there. Hannah’s song won its tenth time yesterday; I haven’t congratulated her yet so when I was on my way here earlier, I bought a bouquet of flowers for her. I personally choose the flowers myself. Now when she has left, I leave with my manager to go outside to the van, and to my surprise there are still a lot of fans outside. “Kyungho!” they call. “Kim Kyungho!” My manager takes me to the van and I open the passenger door to take out the bouquet and the letter I have written. “Whoa!” the fans call when seeing the bouquet. “Is it for Hannah? You’re so nice!” I keep walking, hearing their comments and questions but I don’t answer any. Not until I am reaching the door and a fan asks if Hannah has been given the cake her fan-club has prepared. “Ah,” I remember and I point at the fans, “After the show, we’ll give it; to congratulate her for the tenth win.” I bow to the fans, hearing them say that I am cute afterwards and I hurry inside to not miss Hannah’s performance. They always say I am cute. Inside the dressing-room I look right to left, from one person to answer. “Which one is best – put the bouquet down with the letter or hand it to her?” I ask my manager but as I say the suggestions out loud I nod. “Hold it out to her, that’s the best one.” And with that decision I sit down in the sofa, eyes on the screen, and I wait for my sister’s performance to start. “She has a lot of fans in the audience today,” Chae Hwan points out when she comes back inside the room, sitting down at the armrest of the sofa. “That will keep her alert, won’t it?” I don’t look away from the TV as Hannah’s performance is introduced, but I hear them talk. Chae Hwan and the two managers left in the room. One stylist and one manager are near the stage for Hannah and her dancers. The sister on the TV is someone I always see. It’s not different from the sister I see backstage, yet completely different. On the stage she is confident, y and she owns the stage, she can flirt and charm the viewers and it is making me smile watching her because even if she has the flu she is not letting it being shown on the stage. I’m certain she is a bit tired, you can hear it in her voice and a little in her eyes, but her charisma is shining through that. It’s almost that I want to applaud and say she is really good, my sister. “She will loose her voice by tomorrow,” Chae Hwan comments with a sigh. I give her a pout. “She is doing great, Kyungho, I know, but see – she is giving her everything to not let her voice crack. Her voice will be gone tomorrow,” she explains for me and no matter how much I want to say she is wrong, my eyes are back on the TV screen and I know she is right. Maybe I will have to be the one pushing her forehead to scold her about working too much. I think she can turn down offers since she is in 5 Pieces, don’t they have that luxury when being so famous? She should be able to… I should talk to her about it, because Hannah has no right to lecture me about work when she doesn’t follow her own words. The performance ends and the first minute I wait for her to come back, sitting ready with the bouquet and the letter in my hands before remembering there is the ending of the show too. And here I was hoping we could wrap up quickly here and head home for Emelia’s surprise, but Hannah has work to do. I don’t even know where Carolina went; she isn’t in the room anyway. We watch the last performances before it are the ending and by then I have lied down in the sofa with the bouquet and letter on the table. “Isn’t it done yet?” I sigh. “It’s the ending now,” Manager Park tells me, spinning around in a chair. He is just two years older than Hannah. “Where are Shiwon Hyung and the other dancers?” I wonder. “They are probably waiting for Hannah with Ji Young Hyung,” Manager Park tells me. “Who is preparing the cake?” “We’re preparing it now?” Chae Hwan asks and looks at the time. “We can do it when the winner has been announced.” My sister is running up for first place again, for over four weeks straight she has been running up for first place, and ten times she has gotten first. As the ending of the show begins I smile seeing Minho on the screen, and we can hear the fans cheer in the crowd. “Hyung,” I start to ask and look at Hannah’s manager, “When will she come home later? From the fan-signing? Will it take long?” “Um… she will be home after nine, I think,” he answers and shrugs his shoulder. “Okay.” “OH!” “Oh-oh!” I repeat seeing what is happening on the screen. Chae Hwan had reacted, making me see what’s going on, and she starts applauding in excitement while I see the confetti fall on my sister’s face on the screen. “Nuna won!!” I gape at the others in the room, laughing as I can hear cheers coming from another room. Manager Park is standing up with a big smile. “Kyungho, do you want to go congratulate her for the encore?” he asks. “Can I do that?!” “Sure, you can.” I am on my way to rush out the door when remembering the bouquet and I turn around to go get them, bumping into Manager Park who laughs at me. “Can I give her the bouquet? Can she get it on the stage?” I ask in my rush and I look up at the manager who looks to give it a serious thought. “Um…” “Yes, you can give it to her!” Chae Hwan answers from inside the room, meeting me halfway with the bouquet. “But save the letter to later.” That makes me hesitate. I had thought of giving her the bouquet and the letter would be like a secret gift along to it, but I don’t want to go on stage empty handed. I grab the bouquet and starts running, and even if Manager Park is telling me to slow down and wait for him, I rush through stairs and corridors before I reach the entrance to the stage where idols are coming through and staff are standing guard. I slow my steps and bow down as politely I can, because I know this is Hannah’s workplace and not a place to run around in (even if I am always running around here), and I keep bowing politely while idols and staff say my name and someone asks if I am going to congratulate my sister. I nod without seeing who tells me because there are a lot of tall people surrounding me even if I’m staying along the wall. Somehow I manage to get inside the hall where the stage is, the encore has started and fans are cheering for my sister on the stage. Eunhyuk and Donghae from Super Junior made their comeback today and they both call my name until they get my attention, patting my head and back when passing by and I can’t stop smiling. Hannah’s voice is heard, singing and thanking her fans, but she doesn’t spot me when I walk towards the stairs to the stage, instead I have Shiwon run over to me. “Those are for me?” he teases and points at the bouquet that I instantly holds away from him, but Shiwon has no interest in taking the bouquet. “Come on.” The music is loud and Hannah keeps singing and I can hear how happy she is – it is making me happier too. Shiwon takes my hand to get me up on the stage; the audience gets loud pointing at me and the dancers and Hannah on the
