“He-he-he-he-he,” Taemin is laughing weirdly. “Are we lost?” I ask Kai who is looking as confused as he did five minutes ago. “No, I know exactly where we are,” Kai answers and shifts on the blinkers to steer left. “You have no idea at all where we are,” Taemin laughs and brings out his phone. After half an hour we are still in the car, all because Kai can’t find the ice cream shop. “It’s not my fault, you have been there as many times as me,” Kai tells Taemin and I lean back in my seat with a smile. “You’re the one driving.” “Why don’t you two just get married?” I suggest. Kai looks at me through the rear-mirror and I reach my tongue out at him. “Trust me, a lot of people have suggested that,” Taemin jokes. “Aha, here we are.” He has gone to a GPS on his phone to find the shop from where we are, and Taemin starts guiding Kai through the streets, and we are laughing at how stupid we have felt when being lost. Okay, I laugh first and comments how stupid we are for getting lost like this and the other two starts laughing too when finally admitting it. But even with Taemin’s phone as a guideline we seem to not find the shop. I feel hopeless sitting in the back, mostly because I don’t know how to guide us right since I have never been at the shop before. We are The Three Musketeers – completely incapable of finding an ice cream shop by ourselves. “But it’s the right street,” Taemin says when trying to look out his window. In the end we park on the side, get out and Taemin calls a friend to get help to find the ice-cream shop. I am laughing and pacing back and forth, feeling a bit restless when we are standing in the cold and Kai tells Taemin that we can look around while connecting to the friend. I am already starting to back my steps down the street, smiling as Taemin is too busy listening to his phone that Kai puts a hand on his back to make him walk forward. “We watched your performance before,” Kai tells me. “Really? On MBC?” I ask and he nods. “It was awkward, wasn’t it?” “It was lovely,” he answers with such a smile that I just laugh and turn away, slowing my steps to walk next to them. “Taemin read me the comments to it.” I laugh at that because not even I have been looking at the comments about our performance today. Taemin starts talking on the phone, being clueless about where we are when starting to look around. “We are really hopeless,” he seems to agree to whoever he is on the phone with. Kai laughs when I nod in agreement. “Not that hopeless,” Kai quietly comments, “We did find your house, didn’t we?” It makes me laugh and I nudge him on the arm, saying that doesn’t count and he is laughing with me. Both of us step away from Taemin when he starts waving his hand for us to be quiet. I look around when we get on the next street, curious to what kind of ice cream shop they are talking about and how Taemin will get help from a phone call that a GPS couldn’t do better. “Taemin,” I say and look next to me. I nudge Kai on the side again and points for him to look. “Is that the shop?” The reaction of Kai doesn’t surprise me. He bursts out laughing and puts both his hands on Taemin’s shoulder to shake him a bit, laughing and laughing so adorably and he continues to laugh so his knees seems to get weak when Taemin sees the shop too. I walk up to the shop first, shaking my head and laughing at my incredibly clueless friends and I am a few meters before them to get inside the shop and get warm. It’s not a lot of people there, a group of friends are sitting in one corner, a couple in their late twenties or early thirties are sitting by one table too and the girl behind the counter smiles up at me and greets me like any other customer before she really has to keep her posture. I think she recognizes me. I’m not wearing anything to cover myself today; it wasn’t part of my plan when getting dressed. I forgot about it, to be honest. I walk up to the long counter to look at the menu when Taemin and Kai come inside. “It looks delicious, right?” Taemin asks and gets up next to me to look at the menu too. I just give him a smile. It sounds like he is showing off this place to me, and Kai steps up to point at what things on the menu he has tried so far, naming them one by one. The cashier is pretending she is busy cleaning up behind the counter but her eyes are stuck on us. I glance up at Taemin to see he has his lower face covered behind a white mask, making him look like a sick person while Kai is wearing a scarf wrapped around his lower face to hide himself. They sure are pretty boys, you can recognize that even when they cover themselves. “What will you get?” I ask them both when Taemin gets first in line. “Three different flavours,” Taemin answers and smiles at me, “Are you paying?” “You wish,” I laugh. “You only brought me along so I could pay for you, didn’t you?” The place isn’t the cheapest, and I roll my eyes when Kai chuckles and Taemin wrinkles his nose saying he had hoped I would pay because I was invited to hang out with them. “That’s the worst reason I have ever heard,” I tell him and Kai agrees with me. “Hey,” Taemin laughs at Kai, “You’re on my side in this.” “What do I get if I pay?” I ask them. “My gratitude,” Taemin jokes and he laughs when I lift my hand a bit threatening. Kai can only laugh too. “I’ll pay next time.” “Dinner,” I tell him. “Fine; I’ll pay for dinner next time,” Taemin laughs. “Dinner with meat,” Kai adds on to it and I laugh as he seems to be more on my side; meat is expensive, meaning he can’t get away with a cheap dinner. Taemin laughs too, giving up and telling me that Kai will pay for dinner with meat next time and he turns to the cashier to order. I just smile as we talk about flavours and what to order. I don’t have a trouble paying with the card but both Kai and Taemin pretends to make a big deal out of it, as saying they know I am the most independent one among us and blah-blah-blah how I am the best and so on. I laugh at their words and ignore to give them the joy on talking back, they are just being silly. We get our ice creams and hot cocoa; taking our seats they teach me how to drink the cocoa like a Korean – which is absurd because they drink it the same way as everyone else. They had watched DBSK’s concert tonight, so truth is that they hadn’t done much at all before calling me. My group has decided to go to the concert tomorrow, though when hearing them talk about it I do wish I had gone tonight to have fun with them, though of course, my schedule didn’t let me. We sit there and talk. The ice cream is really delicious, but eating it and drinking hot cocoa is a surprise for my mouth and it’s really good. We talk about all kind of things, jumping from one subject to another and I realise that the three of us haven’t met in a while, but there doesn’t seem to be a subject we can’t talk about – other than relationships. It would be awkward to talk about Jonghyun with these two. Though we do send a picture with the three of us doing funny grimaces, sending it to Jonghyun who is doing his radio because he texted me, asking if I’m awake, and that was the answer he got; ‘The Three Musketeers eating ice cream together’ along with the picture. Though Maria was the one saying it’s not her business; she texts me to remind me of the time and asks when I will be home. She is going to sleep now, so I tell her I’ll be out for a bit longer. We have to leave the shop shortly after that though because they are closing, so the three of us get warm in our jackets again and head out to the cold December air. I don’t say much once we have gotten outside but I listen to them talk, thinking they see me as being part of the discussion just because I am listening. That’s a good reason to why I like Taemin and Kai. If it’s anyone else, they would ask if I’m listening, saying I got quiet all of a sudden or it would be something that makes them question my behaviour, while for Taemin and Kai they don’t seem to notice my silence or they know that it’s nothing different with me. I have taken notice of it myself since my members mentioned it; when stepping outside or if we walks inside a place, I suddenly get very quiet. I don’t have a reason for it; at times I just get quiet. It’s comforting having these two not pointing that out. Our steps are slow as we decide to head home now, slowly heading to the car while talking. My cell phone vibrates when I receive a text, and seeing it is Jonghyun, I wonder if he wants to meet up after his radio – I’m tired, so a part of me actually hopes he is not asking for that – and to my relief it’s not. But he points out something; ‘popular musketeers, an article about your three-people date is up online, and you look as beautiful as ever’. He sends a link as well so after looking through it I show it to Taemin and Kai as well. It’s nothing in particular. One of the people at the shop must’ve taken a picture of us as it says we appeared friendly and chatted away as close friends, enjoying ice cream though the weather in Seoul is pretty cold. The comments are funny though, commenting that the musketeers are returning, asking for a collaboration between the three of us, saying Hannah is the third wheel in the TaeKai date, commenting that the three of us seems to really be good friends, asking if Jonghyun knows about this and that fan-fictions will arise about us three once more… “Have you read one?” Kai asks me. “One what?” “A fan-fiction about us,” Kai answers and Taemin shines up in a smile. “I did,” he says and I find myself laughing at how proud he sounds over admitting that. “A part of it was funny and another part of it was really … just weird.” I don’t read fan-fiction, but I have members who do and I have read it in the past as well. Some are actually quite disturbing. I haven’t read any about the three of us though. “There is this hilarious one,” Taemin starts to say, “Where we go to SM school and all the artists at SM are students and some are even teachers-” He is interrupted by Kai picking up his ringing phone, and when Kai sees who is calling he shows the display to Taemin. “How…” Taemin looks confused, gives me my phone to start look through his pockets. “What?” I ask and get to see the display as well. Taemin is calling Kai when Taemin is standing right next to us? Kai answers the call a bit hesitant. “Hello…?” I hear a female voice on the line but I can’t make out the words. Kai sighs and grabs Taemin’s arm to turn around. “Yes, we are on our way. Thank you so much.” Taemin and I look at him in confusion when we start walking back. “Taemin forgot his phone at the shop,” Kai says and then bursts out in a smile. “The cashier saw it when she was going to close up.” “Oh my god,” I say and start laughing. They are indeed impossible! “I didn’t even know I forgot it…” Taemin mutters and continues to search his pockets though it’s obvious his phone is at the shop. “If I tell my ladies about this, it is the last time I will get to hang out with you two,” I comment and shake my head. “Good, then I don’t have to pay for dinner,” Taemin teases and I give out a loud fake laugh while kicking my foot towards him. “Just don’t tell them about it then,” Kai chuckles. Mm, not that I am good at keeping things I hope I can keep it away from my members that the whole night has been messy with getting lost and forgetting things. We head back to the shop to find the cashier shuddering outside the shop. She smiles widely when Taemin steps up to get his phone back, Kai and I stay a bit away giggling at how stupid he is, and then we start our slow walk back to the car together. It doesn’t take many minutes until we look around, and it has happened again. “Come on!” I burst out. “Are you two for real?” “‘Come on’ on you too. It’s three of us, is there not?” Kai asks me, pointing between the three of us. I give him an annoyed look. How can we loose a parked car? “Maybe someone stole it,” Taemin wonders and he looks surprised when I turn my annoyed look to him. “What? It’s possible.” It would be possible, of course, but it seems doubtful. I sigh as my phone rings and I answer it in an annoyed tone. “Oh, what’s wrong?” Jonghyun asks me on the line. “I do not want to be part of The Three Musketeers anymore,” I mutter and squints my eyes when Taemin gives me a look. “What did you loose?” Jonghyun laughs and it makes me start pouting because he knows us too well. I am not the kind of person to loose things, but I am with Taemin and Kai – what else would he expect? “We can’t find the car.” “This way,” Kai says and starts walking while all I hear on the phone is Jonghyun laughing. “It’s not funny, Oppa,” I mutter. “It’s cold outside.” “Let me come and make you warm,” Jonghyun sweetly says, in the same tone he uses during his radio program and I surprisingly laugh at him. “Not funny.” “Where are you? I can be there before you find the car,” he says as a challenge and I glance ay my two friends who are busy talking about where we have walked and where the car is supposed to be. “Still near the ice cream shop.” I answer. “And Oppa… if you want to come before we find the car, you should hurry.” I hear on his voice that he doesn’t believe we will find the car before he comes, and when hanging up I tell Taemin and Kai that Jonghyun has challenged us. “FINE!” Taemin shouts out to the street. “Let’s head back to the shop and start from there.” I have never gotten lost like this before. It is incredible how we have managed to not set anything on fire, but as soon as that thought reaches me I get worried because the night isn’t over yet. I don’t even know what the car looks like other than its
