Youngest of Pieces: NEW ME (11)

“Oh !” Maria bursts out and jumps out of her seat to lean towards the window to look out from the bus.  “The hall do NOT fit all those people,” Shiwon comments. Everyone looks out the windows, and my breath gets uneven as I don’t really know what to think of this. Surrounding the building in Busan there are posters showing that tomorrow it is a concert here, but the posters are like nothing compared to the thousand of people surrounding the whole place; tents have been put up, police cars are spotted with police men circulating the area and there is even difficult for the bus to get inside the secured area where we will be unpacking and getting inside – the back of the building. When the bus wants to get past security the fans seems to realise it is not just any bus because out of the blue there is wild shouting coming from all around the bus and we laugh seeing some of the dancers waving from the windows while us ladies are sitting back and just trying to figure out what is happening. “They are all here for you, baby,” Maria happily tells me while hitting my legs with her palms the hardest she can. “I want to make a bet!” Shiwon calls out with a hand in the air, standing up by his seat. “I bet that Hannah will cry before the concert begins tomorrow!” “Noooo!” I shout out as the bets start flooding in after his words. I laugh behind my hands at everyone’s excitement that I will cry during the first song or the first ballad, or during tomorrow’s rehearsals, saying I will cry during the cheer before the concert and so on. Maria is the one saying I will cry when rehearsals begins today and the whole time Jen is looking at everyone with a big question-mark on her head at what everyone is suddenly talking so loudly about. She is still trying to look out the windows too, hearing the chanting from fans calling out her sister’s name – my name. The bus parks outside the backdoors that are held open and staff are still working on getting some things inside while we are just arriving. Our dancers and the band leaves the bus first, the crew, while us ladies are talking about how to get inside the building because the fans are standing over by the gate to see who is arriving. They scream at our dancers, excited that the crew is arriving for the rehearsals and I listen to Carolina speculating that fans that doesn’t even have tickets for the concert tomorrow are here in hope to see their idol arriving for rehearsals. I want to go outside first, to wildly wave to the supportive fans, but just as I get up from my seat, Julia leaves hers. “Julia!” I cry out and we are pushing ourselves through the seats of the bus. I am holding on to Julia’s arm while laughing, trying to push her down on a seat so I can pass her but when I finally manages to pull her down on a seat she pulls me down with her and I can feel someone walking by us, Julia starts shouting as she spots Maria taking her chance. Julia lets me go and Carolina tries to pass me when I stand up. “Don’t,” I whine like a child at Carolina who starts hugging on to me. “5 Pieces is here for you today,” Carolina tells me with her head next to mine, “so let us go out first-” “Hu-hu!” I cry, we are being so silly right now. “And we will make your fans forget about you!” Carolina evilly laughs in my ear before spinning us around and I am laughing too much to fight back as she makes her way out. I hurry out after that, just reaching the front of the bus where Carolina is, watching Maria leaning out from the bus and waving like a queen over at the loud fans. Maria gets out as she sees us behind her and what happens next happens so fast; Carolina starts walking down the steps from the bus to go out, but as her foot goes down to touch the ground her other foot gets stuck on something so she falls straight forward and down on the ground like timber. Maria gives out a scream and I hurry out of the bus to ask Carolina if she is alright, but Carolina just starts laughing on the ground, her backpack on her back and she is laughing, so we start laughing too. Julia laughs extra loud in the bus so we know she saw it too. “You’re so clumsy!” Maria laughs at Carolina as we help her up. A staff and Manager Lim went over to us to help her too, but Carolina is already up on her feet when they are over on our side. I am crying so much looking at Carolina laughing and looking embarrassed that I am almost crying. Maria pushes Carolina’s shoulder for scaring us with her fall, and the fans are screaming so much from a distance, reminding me that they have seen it all. With a laugh I put my arms around Carolina to ask her if she got hurt, just to make sure she is okay. “What a grand entrance,” Julia laughs as she comes out too. I let go of Carolina and takes a few steps away from them to look at the fans. They are covering the whole gate, screaming and waving and holding these large cameras to take pictures and I get this urgent love towards them all for coming here that I must look crazy when I start running towards them – the reaction is blasting. Manager Lim calls out at me though, from the back he tells me to not go there and I stop my step to raise my hands in the air and wave to my fans. The fans are waving back and screaming and I want to shout out to them that I can’t wait for the concert tomorrow but they wouldn’t hear my so I give a final wave before hurrying to the others. Jen is the most uncomfortable person in this city right now. She followed Maria inside but she has to follow one of us ladies everywhere because otherwise she will get lost in the language. When I come up to them I am smiling at my sister. “Are you okay?” I ask her, seeing she is not comfortable. “All those people out there,” she breathes out with a grimace, “they are here for one concert tomorrow?” “Not even half of those out there have tickets to see the concert tomorrow,” Maria happily points out in front of us. “So basically they are all here in hope to catch a tiny glimpse of Hannah.” Jen looks at me, expecting me to say she is just joking, but Maria is telling the truth; believe it or not, but those people out there did not know that 5 Pieces would show up so they actually came in hope to catch a glimpse of me, and my crew, of course. I can’t chat with my sister because my manager and the head staff wants to talk, to show us around and go through the day’s schedule. My room is the best. That is where my members and Jen will probably spend most of the time in: a large room with a sofa and a table and a makeup table along the wall with mirrors and good light, the walls are covered with my concert posters – which the corridors in the building are too – and there are bouquets of flowers and presents are being put on tables outside the room as a table in the room is already filled with things. “Gift from fans,” Manager Lee says when I head outside the room after leaving my things. I open a box on the table to see what’s inside and what I see makes me slightly confused. “What’s this?” I ask. Manager Lee leans over to look inside the box. “A gift?” I pick up the transparent ball that fits in my hand and I start gaping when feeling it is glass. A ball made of glass that someone has beautifully painted on, stars looking like crystals and inside the ball it is some kind of purple bunny or something. “This is gorgeous,” I point out and I lean back to look inside the room, just to have Maria look outside. “Look at this. Isn’t it amazing?” “What is it?” Maria wonders but she sees like me that it is a gorgeous ball. “A gift?” I ask and I smile at my laughing manager because I just repeat what he said. “Hannah,” Manager Lim sighs several meters away from us. He points at the watch on his wrist. “Let’s get going.” I put down the glass ball in the box and close the lid before hurrying after my managers to go see the stage. On the way to the stage – which isn’t far away from the room at all – I greet the people I meet with a large smile, being nervous but happy. The concert hall fits 1,500 people, all seats, and when I first peek out from the stage I can feel how my stomach starts twisting out of nervousness. I glance around on the stage, staff is still working on preparing the stage with the equipment and effects, and I think all of them are glancing my way while trying to focus on their job. I quietly walks out on the stage and out at the front, and I glance behind me at Manager Lim standing on the side. “It is close,” I comment in a low voice. “What?” he asks. “It is close,” I repeat and points out below the stage, “The fans will sit here?” I give out a smile when the concert director walks up on the stage, smiling at me. “Is there a problem?” she asks. “No,” I shake my head but I am so nervous imagining fans sitting one meter away from the stage. “But will they sit here at the front row?” “Of course they will,” she answers and puts her hand on my back to point around at the front of the stage. “It is two and a half meter’s distance from the seat to the stage, and here you can walk down for the parts we talked about to get closer to the fans… It’s alright, isn’t it?” I nod. But I’m terrified. I need to use the bathroom. I don’t rush, I let the director say her things and we go through the schedule before I can go to the bathroom. Before rehearsals will begin we will eat lunch, and when I come back to my room backstage it smells like food. “Oh, what’s that?” I ask and walk straight up to the table where the ladies, Jen and our stylists are sitting around. “This is pancakes,” Maria and Yong Hyun both says and points at the different plates. “Your fans have sent them. And here it is pork soup.” I take a seat next to Jen, hearing Carolina trying to explain to her what the food is as it is more than just two dishes and without a care I just start eating as I am hungry and the food is delicious, and there is surprisingly a lot of conversation around the table though I am just eating as I want rehearsals to begin. Fans are updating each other online, commenting ‘5 Pieces arrives together to Busan for Hannah’s concert tomorrow!’ and ‘Hannah looks super excited arriving in Busan today’, we talk about it while eating and I am smiling widely when Emelia comes with Milo. The whole room goes out in “HEEEEEEY” to greet her and she is so cheerful coming to eat, and while Emelia wants to ask about us, we want to know how her time with Milo and Doojoon has been like. Doojoon is still in Busan and he will come to the concert tomorrow; Emelia is just spending some hours with us for the rehearsals before she will go eat dinner with him. Whatever we with, we know that Emelia and Doojoon are just friends – they were almost dating a few years ago, or at least they went out a few times – but being friends seems to be enough for the two of them. Emelia even says that she has written on twitter that Busan seems prepared for NEW ME concert tomorrow, which
