thoughts PLOT: There's a sort of wandering nature to this plot that I think fits it very well (and seriously, I'm normally not a fan of that type of thing, which means this one has to be good). It's set in an apocalyptic au that's not quite a zombie one but has clear inspirations from, and the accompanying main focus on survival as the not-yet-infected-people wander from place to place scavenging. The story isn't so much about finding a cure as finding yourself and learning to live with it. Again, usually not my kind of thing, but executed brilliantly here, not to mention that it was written specifically for the Exodus theme of my writing competition, and the main character moving on and becoming somebody else was one of the best executions of that theme in its category.

CHARACTERISATION: Anybody who's seen other recommendations I have for this author will know that one of the things I comment on most happily is her character development. Once again, superb. It's the driving force behind the story as a whole, and everything about it is just so human and all the characters are so distinct from one another. We have a brief glimpse of Chanyeol as a happy, normal teenager before everything goes wrong and he gradually starts losing the people around
