Kai's POV
I felt like I was living life on fast forward. Everything was happening all at once, all too quickly and I just never had time to catch my breath. However, I wasn't complaining about it all. My father had not only been given his job back, but Mr Park had even offered him a placement that would allow him to put that economics degree he earned so many years ago to good use. Mr Park had apologised for his wrongdoing and had even moved my mother to a private, fully funded room at St Louise. After that, he'd apologised to Penelope and the two of them were still in the process of bonding. It made me happy to see them spend time together, even with their busy schedules.
Penelope and Victoria were also together more often now. The sisters took time out to go baby shopping, as they called it, regular shopping and just spending time together in general. Victoria was rich enough and esteemed enough to be able to take her maternity leave early and, so, she was currently residing in her childhood home. Her husband (on her orders) was still working. It didn't matter that it wasn't football season, he was still a sports spokesperson, a model and an entrepreneur of a multinational sporting company. My father was mentally and physically healthier now with his new job and the added perks, including a company car and monthly bonuses (it was easy to see why PetroPark attracted so many workers), my mother was responding better to treatment than she had in years and things were looking up for her. Me? I found it euphoric to see my family finally catch a break.
All in all, life was busy and stressful but it was a dream. Except for one little problem: Lindsay Park. Penelope's mother, for whatever reason, was enraged by Mr Park giving my dad his job back and promoting him. The woman seemed to have something against my family but I had absolutely no idea why. We'd never done anything to her.
"Are you even listening to me?" Christopher, one of my classmates, asked, snapping his fingers in my face. I blinked a few times before I nodded at him, no clue as to what he'd just said. ". I was saying...I can't even imagine all the babes you'll meet at that dance school."
"I'm with Penelope," I reminded him and he snorted. "What?"
"You're both going to different colleges, if I'm correct. Isn't she, like, going to Harvard?" He asked and I nodded, still not getting it. "How are you going to stay in a relationship if the two of you are in different states?"
"Ever heard of a long distance relationship, genius?" I said, rolling my eyes. Truth be told, I'd been extremely worried when Penelope had first said she was going to be attending Harvard in the fall. Not because I thought some random guy was going to get her attention but because Sehun would also be there. For weeks, I'd been hiding my uneasiness and jealousy whenever they interacted. I knew there was something between them, something just as strong as what me and Penelope shared. But I didn't say anything for a few reasons. The first: Sehun was a good friend and I knew not to accuse him of trying to steal my girlfriend. The second: I had Penelope and he didn't. The third and final reason was that if what he felt for her was anything like what I felt for her, then I couldn't imagine how painful it was for him to see her be with me every day. However, that didn't ease my discomfort and I let it show by taking it out on her relationship with Zelo. Truth me told, I felt no jealousy whatsoever when those two acted cute together but if I didn't release some of my frustration on someone, I would blow up. No, it wasn't fair to Zelo but it was all I had.
It was for those very reasons that when Sehun told us (our group of friends) that he'd changed his acceptance choice to Yale instead of Harvard, I couldn't help but be overjoyed and flooded with relief. It only upped my chances of maintaining my relationship with Penelope. I, still, however wanted to know what happened for him to change his mind so suddenly. I knew it had to have had something to do with her.
"Yeah, good luck with that," Christopher scoffed. "Aight, man, I gotta bounce. Last exam, wish me luck."
"You'll nail it," I smiled, patting his back. "See you later, man." I'd already finished with my exams the previous week since they'd all been pretty packed together. Most of us seniors had three to five AP exams. Then there was my girlfriend who was completely bat- crazy and had ten AP subjects/exams and one elective. Not to mention all the activities she participated in including volleyball, the debate club, the environmental preservation club and she was also the student body president.
Talk about overachieving. Damn.
"That was easy," said girl beamed as she came out of the examination hall, the rest of the people who'd taken the economics exam with her soon following. I raised my brow at her and she flashed me a bright smile. "What? It was. I'm actually disappointed."
"You're unbelievable," I laughed, shaking my head. We entwined our hands and started towards the football field. I had to contain my laughter when her classmates asked her how she thought she'd done because they'd found the paper too difficult for high school level. We got to the field and sat down with our friends under the sun and clear sky. "How's the planning going?"
"My parents already contacted the event organiser and they'll be here tonight, setting everything up in the cafeteria," Cassie answered as she played with Kris' hair. "Prom is gonna kick ."
"The after party is gonna kick more ," Baekhyun grinned, staring up at the sky with an arm draped over his forehead. "I haven't even seen Reagan's suit yet so I'm hoping I'm not badly surprised." Reagan Thompson had finally asked him to be his date and he never got tired of mentioning it to us as if it was some big achievement. Anyone would be stupid not to like Baek, in my opinion.
"I'm so excited," Penelope squealed, the girls joining in with her. I grinned and pecked her cheek, not missing the side glance Sehun threw our way. I couldn't help but feel a little smug.

Penelope's POV
"Why did you tell everyone you're going to Yale?" I asked Sehun on speakerphone as my personal stylist worked on my hair. Daddy Park wanted only the best for his little princess on her prom night and I sure as hell wasn't going to object. What? I'd done enough charity work, I needed to do a little spending on myself.
"Because I need Kai to think I'm going to Yale. The guy is obviously freaking out about us going to the same university," he replied, slightly mumbling. I presumed he was fixing his tie or bow tie, whichever he was wearing.
"Mmm, I guess," I sighed, watching myself in the mirror. My lips were a blood red colour, my nails matching, and my eyelids coated with pure black makeup. I my pearly white teeth and winced when Sasha, my stylist, tugged on my hair to scold me for moving too much. "Still, he's gonna be pissed when he finds out, so is Kris. He thinks you two are going to the same place."
"He's Kris, he'll get over it," he said and I could picture him shrugging. His voice then turned cheesy as he purred, "so, uh...what are you wearing?" I let out a loud laugh and winced when Sasha tugged my hair again.
"Tiny underwear, lace bra," I replied sultrily. My facade failed me and I laughed out loud again. His own laughter rang from the phone, making me smile even wider. "Right, idiot, I gotta go. See you in a bit."
"Bye, Pencil," he chuckled, hanging up. I let out a breath and eyed myself in the mirror. My ivory dress hugged every inch of
