Burning Silver
Clairvoyance
Leo POV~
He tracked N all the way to an old cabin in the wilderness outside of town. N was starting to sound tired. It worried Leo. Usually he was full of energy and could use his powers for hours without even showing any signs of exhaustion.
Slowly he used his powers to pick the lock on the cabin door. It seemed like the monster wasn't home. Good. He could make sure N was okay before he had to worry about fighting it.
Carefully he made his way through the cabin until he came to a door. Chains and a lock held the door shut. Leo didn't have time for this crap. He gathered all of his strength and kicked it open. He heard two screams inside as the door fell away, hanging slightly on the chains.
"Hakyeon!" He ran instantly to N's side, touching his cheeks gently to examine him. His eyes seemed a little unfocused and his skin was pale. "What's wrong?!"
"Headache. Don't worry Taek. Just get us unchained so we can get Maia home safely." N nods toward a girl. Leo had been too worried about N to notice her but now that he had, he felt bad for ignoring her.
"Well look at that. Help actually did come. I almost thought you were lying. Or that you were crazy." The girl smiles a little. "I'm lucky you have a friend because you at this solo mission thing." N laughs and smiles at her.
"You're so kind Maia." He sticks his tongue out at her. Leo felt a pang of jealousy but shrugged it off. N may have connected with her quickly but that was only as a friend. N was gayer than a glitter covered unicorn.
"Hang in there. I'll get you out in a moment." He held out his hands and concentrated on picking the locks telepathically like he had done to the front door. As the locks snapped open N shudders and glances at the doorway, looking nervous.
"Crap. It's here." N whispers, biting his lip like he always did when he was scared. "I can feel him."
"Stay here with Maia. I'll take care of it." Leo looks at N for a long moment before pulling him into a hug and opening his bag. Silver stakes rise out of the bag as Leo uses his powers to operate them without touching them and exits the room, ready to fight.
"What are you doing here?!" The monster yells as Leo faces him in the hallway.
"You hurt Hakyeon..." Leo's lips slowly curl into a terrifying smile. "Even if it weren't my job to keep people safe I couldn't let you get away with that." The monster lunges at him and Leo sends the stakes at it, easily pinning it to a wall by it's knees and shoulders and wrists. It hisses at him as he approaches it. The silver from stakes make it's skin sizzle as it burns the monster's flesh. Silver was like poison to shape shifters. It screams in pain.
"I'll kill you..." it spits at him and Leo just wipes the spit away with the sleeve of his sweater, unphased. "I'll torture your little boyfriend and eat him. I'll floss with that little girl too. All while you watch and then I'll kill you." Leo calmly pulls out a silver knife from his boot and examines it.
"That won't be happening." Leo frowns, not enjoying the idea of what could have happened to N if he hadn't come in time. Or if he gad been weaker. "You won't hurt anyone ever again." Leo drives the knife into the shape shifter's chest, watching as it dies.
"Taekwoon...?" N peeks out of the room at him. "I felt it's energy leave. Is it dead?" Leo simply nods and goes over to N, embracing him, not wanting to ever let him go.
N POV~
He hugged Leo back, feeling him shaking against him. Was Leo injured? N felt worry swell inside of him as he pushes Leo away from him slightly to look him over.
"Taekwoon are you okay?" He looks into Leo's eyes, looking for any sign of what could be wrong with him.
"Don't ever scare me like that again Hakyeon..." Leo whispers and before N knows what's happening Leo kisses him. N stood still, completely stunned, afraid that if he moved Leo would run away. Until the sound of a camera click caused Leo to jump away with a guilty look on his face anyway.
"Sorry. Just wanted to have something to remember my heros by. And that moment was too cute to pass up." The girl smiles and puts her cell phone back in her pocket. N was still too shocked to speak as he slowly raised his fingers to his lips.
"You had a phone?" Leo groans and rolls his eyes. "You didn't call for help?"
"We're in the middle of nowhere. No signal. Jeeze. Like I wouldn't have thought about calling for help." She shrugs and giggles. N was happy to see Maia had regained her spirits.
They all get in the van and Maia gives them instructions to bring her home. N and Maia talk and joke about N's failed attempt to save her and Leo's valiant rescue. N avoided mentioning the kiss. Leo didn't bring it up either. Leo didn't speak at all.
"Well Maia." N hugs her as they stand outside her house. Dawn was fast approaching. "You have my number now. And my friend Soomi's number too. In case you ever need help. Soomi is great. I'm sure you two would be wonderful friends." He hugs Maia and she hugs him back. "Take care of yourself okay? Now go make your parents happy. They've been so worried."
"Thank you so much. Both of you." Maia smiles and kisses N's cheek and then Leo's, whispering in Leo's ear. "It's okay to like him Taekwoon."
"Wh-what?" N notices Leo blushing as Maia giggles and waves before letting herself into her house, disappearing from view. N feels dizzy. His head still hurts from being clubbed and he hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours while using up all of his energy contacting Leo. His vision goes fuzzy.
"Taek..." N calls out as he starts to fall, losing consciousness again.
Hyuk POV~
They had all been sound asleep, trusting that N and Leo could handle themselves against a simple shape shifter. The sound of squealing tires woke Hyuk with a violent jerk, almost pushing Hongbin out of bed. Hongbin whimpers sleepily and snuggles against Hyuk. Hyuk listens closely and hears the cafe door open and slam shut. Urgent footsteps head up the stairs and into the house.
"Sanghyuk! Hongbin!" It was Leo's voice. He sounded scared. Hyuk was out of bed and stumbling from his room in seconds. Leo was laying N on the couch gently. N was asleep. Or at least not waking up.
"What happened?" Hyuk questions as Hongbin follows him out of the room, rubbing his eyes. Ken and Ravi come out of N's room as well.
"He passed out. He has a head wound. Get Byoungjun and his father over here. Now!" Leo hovers beside N and Hyuk could see the fear in his eyes. Leo would be lost without N.
Hongbin POV~
He called Byoungjun as soon as Leo told him too. It took less than five minutes for him and his father to make it to their house. Leo refused to leave N's side while he was examined.
"Is he going to be okay?" Leo questions finally, clearly showing impatience and worry.
"He'll have a headache for a while and his energy will probably be zapped quickly until he's healed but a few days of rest and proper meals should be all he needs. Maybe some pain killers." Byoungjun's dad smiles and hands Leo a bottle of pills. "I trust you to take care of him Taekwoon." He turns to leave and Byoungjun kisses N's cheek, tucking him in as they had moved him to Leo's bed.
"You had better take care of him." Byoungjun glares at Leo before following his dad. Hongbin was relieved that N was going to be okay. Byoungjun's dad checks on Ken and Ravi on his way out and declares them to be healthy before he and his son depart. Maybe N would recover that quickly too.
Ravi POV~
"Hakyeon isn't working the cafe today." Leo announces as he sits on the bed beside the still sleeping N. "And I'm staying here with him."
"We can't run Hyde by ourselves. It takes more than two people." Hongbin was complaining. Ravi looks at the sleeping N and then at Hongbin.
"I could help. It's the least I could do." He suggests. His wrist was still a little sore but he wanted to make himself useful.
"Me too!" Ken yells in excitement and Leo shushes him fiercely.
"Okay then. Let's go eat breakfast and get to work." Hyuk smiles and leaves the room. Ravi was the last person out of Leo's room so he was pretty sure he was the only one who watched Leo kiss N's forehead before climbing into bed beside him. Ravi had to admit that he was surprised to see Leo so concerned over N. Leo didn't exactly look like the type of person to have something as pesky as emotions.
Ken POV~
Hongbin and Hyuk were teaming up to make breakfast in the cafe kitchen, leaving Ken and Ravi alone to examine the cafe. It was cute. Lacey and sweet with lots of windows. A piano sat to one side and over a dozen tables peppered the floor. It was clear N had decorated it.
"Hey Jaehwan." Ravi walks up next to him and holds his hand as Ken inspects a painting of a snowy forest.
"Yes Wonshik?" Ken replies and turns to smile at him.
"Would you like to be my boyfriend? I mean. Officially." Ravi sounded unsure of what Ken would say. Which amuses Ken because Ravi should have no reason to think Ken would say no to him. So he did.
"No." Ken states calmly as he turns to the painting again
"O-oh..." Ravi tried to pull his hand away from Ken's but Ken held on tightly and started to laugh.
"I'm joking. I would love to officially be your boyfriend." Ken giggles and kisses Ravi. No more guess work. N's condition had driven Ravi to ask him out for good and of that Ken was grateful. Ravi was his boyfriend. His day already couldn't get any better. Well minus the whole N being injured thing. That kind of .
