Living Nightmares
Clairvoyance
Hyuk POV~
"Hongbin. Take these two and run." He won't take his eyes off of the monster standing in the dim entryway. "Use your powers to make an exit and get back to the van. I'll follow after you. Hongbin... I love you."
"Sanghyuk... I... I'm not leaving you behind..." Hyuk could tell Hongbin wasn't doing well with his fear.
"Hongbin. I need you to go. The job is to get those two to safety." He tenses, watching the monster carefully as it's muscles ripple, preparing to attack. "Go now or I'm never sleeping with you again."
"Hyuk I don't care about that... I care about you..." Hongbin was apparently going to continue arguing. Hyuk didn't have time for this. He concentrated until his power made contact with an underground spring, sending a wall of water up between himself and his boyfriend just as the monster shrieked and lunged at him.
Jagged claws ripped through his shirt, leaving shallow scratches across his chest as he rolls away. He manages to come out of his roll in a kneeling position, gun pointed at the wendigo. One, two, three shots rang out but the monster just gave an ear piercing shriek and dove at him again.
Hyuk scrambles away, pulling a lighter out of his pocket, clicking it on. He throws it at the wendigo. Hoping to scare it, slow it down. The old scraps of clothes the thing was wearing ignited, sending the wendigo up in flames.
Hyuk's sense of triumph was short lived. He had over looked a very serious detail. A flaming, panicked Wendigo is even more unpredictable and dangerous than if it weren't completely insane with pain and horror. It flails at him and Hyuk manages to escape again, but not without a burning shirt sleeve.
He winces as he skin blisters, sending a few more bullets into the creature before it finally drops. Hyuk listens to it take it's last breath befors he crashes the wall of water down on the creature and himself, putting out the flames. His arm hurt like hell but he was just surprised he managed to kill the thing. He had honestly thought he was going to die in the cave.
Hongbin POV~
When the water came up between them Hongbin fought back a scream of frustration. He didn't want to leave Hyuk behind but he had no choice. Hyuk was right. This was the job and it came first.
"Come on." Hongbin leads the couple to the back of the cave. He touches the wall and takes a deep breath. It would take a lot of energy to do this but he had to. He uses his abilities to push the earth, creating a staircase out of the soil that leads to the surface.
"What are you guys? Superheroes?" Jungkook bluts out, earing an eye roll from his girlfriend.
"I love you but please don't ask stupid questions." Gia sighs as they head up the steps.
"We're not superheroes." Hongbin smiles at Jungkook. "We're just guts who has some spare abilities that want to help out against the unknown." Gunshots ring out in the cave, causing Gia to scream and cling to her boyfriend.
"Okay. Time to get moving." Hongbin rushes them out of the cave and toward the van. The quicker he got them to safety, the sooner he could get back and help Hyuk.
They get to the van and Hongbin forces them to get inside and lock the door. He hands them the van keys and checks his bags. When he knows he has everything he needs he turns to go back for Hyuk. But the sound of a speeding car distracts him.
N POV~
He refused to speak the rest of the drive, pulling into the parking lot at the base of the mountain in time to see Hongbin heading away from the van, a panicked look on his face. N was out of the car and running to his friend before Byoungjun even properly stopped the car.
"Hongbin?" He catches Hongbin's wrist and the younger turns to face him. "Where's Hyuk?"
"Fighting the wendigo..." Hongbin was shaking, in no condition to help their youngest companion.
"Byoungjun. Keep an eye on Hongbin and the kids. I'm going after Hyuk." N lets go of Hongbin and grabs the gun out of his hands, checking for bullets. Perfect. A full clip.
"Hakyeon. You shouldn't-" but N wasn't listening to Byoungjun. He was already heading up the trail. He made it to the camp site just as Hyuk stumbled out of the bushes, soaking wet and bleeding.
"Sanghyuk!" He helps steady Hyuk and looks him over. At least his injuries didn't look severe. But if Leo had just let N come to begin with, Hyuk would be fine.
"Hakyeon! You should be resting!" Hyuk's concern reminds him on Leo. It irritates him and he has to fight the urge to leave Hyuk to walk back by himself.
"I'm fine. I'm not weak." He half growls as he helps Hyuk back to the parking lot. Hongbin snatches him away from N as soon as they reach him, hugging him, kissing him, fussing over his wounds.
"Okay Hakyeon. Time to get you home." Byoungjun holds N's arm gently, pulling him to the car. "You need to go rest now."
"Fine. Whatever." Honestly N wasn't ready to go face Leo again. He was still mad. Especially after seeing Hyuk injured. But he gets in the car anyway and lets Byoungjun drive him back to Hyde in silence.
"I'll walk you up." Byoungjun gets out of the car after he parks in front of the cafe, helping N out of the car. When N stands they're too close together and N can feel nervousness coil in his stomach. He has to look up to see Byoungjun's face.
"I could go up alone." He suggests, impressed he managed to keep his voice even. His anger with Leo and his past with Byoungjun were merging to do terrible things to his emotions. So when Byoungjun leaned down to kiss him, N didn't pull away. Instead he found his arms gently wrapping around his neck. If he were honest with himself, he had missed these soft lips.
"I'll walk you." Byoungjun insists when they finally break away from their embrace. N just nods. He doesn't know what to say but he's more scared than ever to face Leo. But he lets Byoungjun take his hand and lead him upstairs.
"I'm home..." N bites his lip as he comes down the hall into the living room. Leo grabs his wrist hard enough that he was concerned it would leave a bruise before. Leo jerks N closer, hurting his shoulder from the sudden, violent movement. N's heart was racing and he felt terror rise inside of him as Leo raised his hand and slapped N across the cheek with all of his strength, releasing N's hand to let him fall to the floor. His face was cold, emotionless as he looks down at N. N felt tears spring to his eyes as his life comes crashing down around him.
Leo POV~
"You son of a !" Byoungjun screams, lunging at Leo. Leo didn't bother to move. He was dying to fight that boyfriend stealing . But before a fist could make contact with him though, N was between them, holding onto Byoungjun and crying, a bruise forming on his face.
"Please. Please don't hurt Taekwoon." N's words stabbed at Leo's heart but he ignored the pang of guilt. Byoungjun lowered his fist and checks N over instead. Leo's anger returns and he shoves N into Byoungjun, causing the tanned man to whimper in pain.
"Why don't you leave?! Both of you?! Byoungjun can have you, Hakyeon! Since you apparently prefer him!" He turns away, not wanting to see the tears threatening to fall down his cheeks. "We're over Hakyeon!" He stands, motionless, until he hears them leave, falling to his knees as he starts to sob quietly, covering his face with his hands.
What had he done? He hurt N. He left him. But when he had seen N kissing Byoungjun through the window he had snapped. He had trusted N with his heart, something he had never trusted anyone else with. And N destroyed it.
He had been so scared of N leaving him. Of N realizing he loved Byoungjun instead. To watch his nightmares become reality... Leo didn't know how to react. But still, he had hit N. Had bruised him. What if N never came back to him? What if he had lost him forever? Leo didn't think he could live without N by his side. But he wasn't about to forgive him either.
Ken POV~
He kicks his legs as the swing goes higher and higher, watching the sky fading into a deeper, richer color as anight approaches. He feels Ravi's hands push him gently, helping him gain altitude. The breeze on his face was soothing. He had all but forgotten the conflict back at Hyde.
His new phone chirps and he feels Ravi's arms wrap around his waist to stop the swing. Ken leans agsinst his boyfriend and smiles as he pulls the phone out of his pocket the check the text. The screen says it was Daehwan and Ken opens the text curiously.
'Hakyeon is here at Byoungjun's. His cheek and wrist are bruised and neither of them are speaking.' Ken reads the message three times, hoping the content would change and that he had misread it. But it didn't change.
"Wonshik..." He hands his boyfriend his phone and stands up quickly. "We have to go tell Taekwoon..."
"I agree." Ravi nods and hands Ken back his phone, holding his hand as they hurry back home.
Ravi POV~
When they enter the house Leo is kneeling in the center of the living room. Ravi can see him stiffen as they approach but he doesn't turn around. He slowly stands instead, taking a step toward his room.
"Daehwan texted Jaehwan. Hakyeon's at Byoungjun's. He's injured." Ravi takes a step toward Leo as Ken lingers nervously by the door.
"I know. I hit him." Leo's voice sounded cold, empty. But Ravi didn't care how broken the other man sounded. All he cared about was what Leo has just said.
"You did what?!" He screams as Leo takes another step toward his room before Leo could hide himself away though, Ravi was already grabbing him, turning him, and slamming him against the wall, causing Leo to grunt in pain.
"Let go..." Leo's tone was harsh but Ravi didn't care. Leo had stepped over the line. "He's where he wants to be anyway..."
"You idiot! Do you know what Hakyeon's biggest fear is?! You can tell just by watching him with you!" Ravi was in Leo's face, forcing him to see what he's done. "Hakyeon's biggest fear is that you won't love him anymore!" He watched the anger in Leo's face fade slightly before Leo's pushing him away and locking himself in his room.
"Wonshik..." Ken sounded like he was about to cry.
"It's okay. It'll be okay." Ravi goes to his boyfriend, holding him close. "Everything will be okay. I promise." Ravi hoped he was right...
