Distance and Decay

Clairvoyance
Ken POV~

"Dude! That was my phone!" He protests, looking at the electronical corpse that had fallen to the floor.

"Get out." Leo's voice sounded tense and dangerous. Ken thought about arguing, but the dark look on the other's face convinced him it was a bad idea.

"What happened?" Ravi questions as Ken comes into the livingroom. Honestly Ken wasn't sure how to answer that.

"He... He broke my phone and kicked me out of the room..." He couldn't handle the tension from the fight between N and Leo. Or Leo and himself. He goes into the kitchen and starts scrubbing the dishes from breakfast. Cleaning always relaxed Ken, gave his brain something to focus on. But it didn't work well enough. His hands were shaking too badly. He dropped a plate, watching in silent horror as it smashed all over the floor.

"Jaehwan. Are you okay?" He felt Ravi slip his arms around his waist and the weight of his chin rest on his shoulder. The contact was all it took to break Ken's resolve and let the tears flow.

"No. I like these people, Wonshik. I... I don't want them hurt. I don't w-want them breaking up." Ken turned to hide his face in his boyfriend's.chest. "I hate this. I hate that I can't help them..."

"I know. I know. I'm sorry." Ravi was his hair, rocking him gently. "Shh shhh shhh." The same contact that had broken him down was also proving sufficient in soothing his small break down.

Ravi POV~

He couldn't believe this. What was N thinking? What was Leo thinking? He wished he could knock some sense into both. But all he could do was comfort his boyfriend. It had started working until a large crash from Leo's room sent Ken into a fresh wave of tears.

"Let's go. Wait for me downstairs." He kisses Ken's forehead. "We'll go get you a new phone and hopefully everything will calm down by the time we get back."

"Okay Wonshik." Ken kisses him before bolting downstairs, spooked by another crash from the room. He sighs and goes to the door, opening it a crack to make sure those thumps weren't anything serious. He saw a shattered mirror and an overturned laundry basket, Leo covering his face as he sat on the floor, back leaning against the bed, but nothing he should be too concerned about. So he slipped away without Leo knowing he had ever checked on him.

"Okay. Ready?" Ravi questions when he meets Ken downstairs in Hyde. Ken nods, looking too emotionally on edge to properly answer. Ravi pulls him into a soft kiss before leading him out of the cafe, beginning his quest to calm Ken down with the fun of shopping for new electronics.

Hongbin POV~

They pull in next to an abandoned car. Well a lot of cars. Who would keep coming out here when nobody was returning? Sometimes people didn't make sense to him.

"You ready?" Hyuk questions, squeezing Hongbin's hand gently.

"No." Hongbin just wanted to go home and hide under his blankets. He didn't want to face down a gross, scary wendigo.

"Come on baby. You can do this." Hyuk kisses him, rubbing his cheek gently before getting out of the van, opening the side door to get out his supplies. Hongbin takes a deep breath. He has to be strong. For Hyuk if for no other reason.

"Let's finish this." Hongbin grabbed his own supplies, giving the van one last, longing look before trudging down the path. Hyuk followed close beside him, keeping an eye out for any danger.

"Look." Hyuk points ahead of them at the camp site. Tents were mangled and debris littered the small area. It looked like a tiny little post apocalyptic world.

"Great. Now where do we find the lair?" Hongbin bit his lip nervously. These things were ridiculously hard to track. It would probably find them before they found it.

"That way." Hyuk pointed at narrow pathway. Hongbin looked at him skeptically. You couldn't just choose a path and hope for the best.

"How do you know?" He studies the trail and notices a snag of cloth on a thorned bush. "Nevermind. Let's go." They continued forward, Hyuk pointing out where to go and Hongbin using his powers to shift the plant life and change the ground as needed to make their advance toward the creature as soundless as possible.

Unfortunately that meant they reached the cave a lot faster than he had wanted. He looks up at the gaping mouth of the cave and shudders. A rotten stench creeped out of the deep cavern. Every fiber of his being was begging him to turn and run. But he wouldn't leave Hyuk behind. And he knew Hyuk wouldn't go until the monster was dead.

Hyuk POV~

"You'll be okay baby." Hyuk whispers as he pulls his boyfriend into a protective hug. "I promise to keep you safe. Don't worry." He kisses his forehead and makes sure Hongbin can continue in before entering the cave.

The further in they get the worse the smell becomes. Hongbin covers his mouth and nose with his shirt to block the putrid oder. Hyuk dealt with it, choosing instead to keep his silver bullet packed pistol at the ready in case they ran into the wendigo.

"Hyuk. Look." Hongbin whispers, pointing at the two blood smeared bodies tied to a stalagmite. "Think they're still alive?"

"I don't know..." Hyuk advances slowly and the girl whimpers at the sound, opening her eyes to stare up at them.

"You're Gia right? Are you and your boyfriend hurt?" Hongbin questions, getting to work on cutting the ropes. Her boyfriend jerks awake at the feeling of an unknown mass so close beside him.

"Jungkook." Gia looks at him, trying to calm his panic. "People are here to save us." She turns her head to Hongbin. "We're fine. Hungry, thirsty. But unharmed. That... That thing... Just finished it's last meal and hasn't gotten to us yet. The blood isn't ours. The thing is just a messy eater."

"Gia. Don't talk so much. You need to save your strength." The worry on Jungkook's face made Hyuk think about how he would feel is he and Hongbin were in their position. He'd probably be just as concerned.

"Sorry." Gia smiles a little as Hongbin finally cut through the rope and set the two victims free. They embraced and Hyuk sees tears of relief form in their eyes. Didn't they know it was too early for celebration? The wendigo was still- an inhuman roar of anger filled the cave- out there...

Leo POV~

He picks up his phone, dailing N's number. He didn't care if N was mad. He didn't care that N ran off with his ex. All that mattered to Leo was that N was safe. He was still too weak to attempt a mission like this.

As much as he trusted Hongbin and Hyuk, even Byoungjun, with N's life, he couldn't help but feel scared. N was reckless. He was impulsive. Leo knew it was almost impossible to stop him when he was determined to do something. Usually only Leo could control the beautiful, tan idiot. And Leo was scared to death that without being beside N, N would get himself killed.

But N was refusing to answer his phone. Leo growls in frustration and tries again. He wasn't about to give up just because N was having a temper tantrum. Their fight wasn't a good enough reason for the moron to risk his stupid life. He was resigned to keep calling until N picked up the phone.

N POV~

His phone goes off for the third time and he glares at it. Leo's scowling face looked back at him from the screen. N sighs and turns it off, tossing it into the back seat of Byoungjun's car. He didn't want to talk to Leo. He was still pissed as hell that Leo would send the youngest members of the group on such a dangerous mission.

"Okay Cha Hakyeon. Time to spill it." Byoungjun glances at him as he drives. "Not that I mind, but why are you not in bed resting? And why are you here with me instead of Taekwoon?"

"I'm not talking about this." N shakes his head, staring out of the side window to avoid making eye contact with his ex. "I'm just here with you okay? No questions."

"Fine." He can feel Byoungjun's nervousness. It was like a dark mist surrounding him. He didn't mean to make Byoungjun so uncomfortable. Honestly he still adored his ex. They were best friends. It just hurt too much to think about his fight with Leo, to think about the harsh things said out of anger.

"I'm sorry Byoungjun." N murmurs, turning to touch the other man's hand gently. "I'll make it up to you okay? Just... Thanks for the help."

"I'll hold you to it." He laughs and smiles. "Don't worry about it Hakyeon. I'll always do anything you want me to." Somehow that didn't make him feel better.

Chapter 42: Well, i am... speechless, i must say.

I must admit that I kinda dont like this ending... you made it so sweet with all the Neo mmts and then it just *boom*, you know? It broke my heart, literally. But it also made me realize a lot. Time will heal. A love, however strong it is, still can be healed and moved on. I've loved a guy for 7 years, and I'm still not ready to move on, but I think I'll have to try eventually, right? This story made me realize that.

My heart ache so bad for the people have died. Just last month, a dear friend of mine fell down from the 7th floor and passed away. Lost one friend and I'm already broken, then ai imagine losing more than just one loved ones... suddenly I want to cry so bad.

And now I think this story will haunt me forever. All the happiness, all the lost, all the anger, all the heal that you have described in every word, they will always made me tear up and hurt, even though I know it's just a story.

All I'm trying to say here is you did a great job, your ending, even though not my favorite, had stabbed and imprinted on my heart and soul, and I'm sure that I wont forget this masterpiece in a long time
