A Reason to Live

Things were getting a little hectic in my house, my father was always a last minute kind of person on little things like decorating. I was cleaning the kitchen as I heard thuds and laughter coming from the other room. I was getting kind of lonely, it would have been nice if Alex was here with me but it being so close to the holidays it was a little hard to see other people rather than your own family. I finished washing the dishes and cleaning the counters and went into the other room to check on how they were doing with the Christmas lights.
“I don't think we are doing this right.” Junhong said as I walked into the room
I found my dad looking and scratching his head at the instructions. The tree wasn't even up yet and they had all the lights out and . If anything Junhong was the tree, he was wrapped in just about everything that decorates a Christmas tree.
“Oh hey Violet, done with the kitchen?” my dad asked looking at me.
“Uhh yeah...Are you guys okay?” I asked.
“Yeah I got things under control.” he smiled.
“Alright, come on Zelo.” I said to him.
“I'll be right there.” he said as he struggled to get untangled from the now ball of lights around him.
I shook my head and left the room. I grabbed my dads car keys, threw on my coat and went into the garage to start up the car. It was cold, even in the garage I could see my breath. “You're not driving?” he asked as he got in the drivers seat.
“I'm not that comfortable driving in the winter.” I said putting on my seat belt.
“Well I guess I'm driving.” He said putting his seat belt on.
He pushed the little button on a remote hooked to the vizor and the garage door opened up. It wasn't snowing which was good but it was windy outside.
“I'm curious.” I turned to Junhong.
“About?” he replied.
“When did you learn how to drive?” I asked.
“I started learning when I was fifteen. My aunt taught me and since then I drove everywhere for her when she had a car.”
“Interesting. My dad started teaching me when I was sixteen. But I don't really drive that often. I really don't like driving in the winter because of ice on the roads. Makes me too nervous.” I sat back.
“Yeah, I've always been a little uneasy driving in the winter but I have to get from one place to the other some how.” he smiled.
I looked at the roads, I didn't talk much with him to let him focus on driving. It was quite a long drive to get int
