25: I Can Protect Them
Oh. My. Heroes.[Year 19 of Exile]

"Yeol, I need to talk to you later."
"What's up, princess?" I asked as Jen pulled me ahead of the boys.
"I had a flashback yesternight." She looked up at me, our eyes meeting. "You wouldn't believe what I saw."
My brows rose, letting my curiosity show. "What did you see?"
She drew a deep breath.
"Promise me you won't tell the others."
My mouth opened, but no words came out.
"ARE YOU ING KIDDING ME!?"
I heard Kris-hyung shouting behind us and we immediately whirled back to see Baekhyun muffling his mouth while waving at us with a silly grin on his face. Jen looked up at me and I shrugged. I continued walking down the path as she caught up to me.
"C'mon! Promise me!" She held up her pinky and urged me to hook mine with hers. Seeing how I didn't move, she picked up my hand and hooked my pinky with hers. "There. You promised me."

Forgetting to catch the pillow, it landed on my face and I choked on dust. Coughing my lungs out, I sat up and heard a snigger. "It's not funny, Baek. I could have died!"
"Well, people don't die that easily. So don't worry." Looking up from his book, my roommate grinned. "What were you thinking about anyway? And what were you murmuring about before you choked?"
"Um..." I clutched the pillow to my chest and contemplated whether to tell my friend.
Ah heck it, I'll just tell him. It concerns Jen's safety after all.
"Remember that morning when Jen said she had something to tell me?" I fiddled with the pillow's corners.
"Uh huh." Sensing that something was up, he slid his book under his pillow and gave me his attention. "And what did she tell you?"
"That's the problem." I looked up at him. "She didn't tell me anything. When she wanted to, Kris-hyung made such a huge ruckus that interrupted her. In the end, I heard nothing from her."
