As Kim was thinking tears just kept on flowing down her cheeks and unlike before, there is no one to wipe them away from her face and to hug her to make her feel better. There was no Gerald to do that anymore.

The next day, Enchong went to Kim’s house to pick her up. As planned, Kim introduced Enchong to her parents as her boyfriend. They accepted Enchong but it was evident in their faces that they are disappointed because it was not Gerald that ended up to be Kim’s boyfriend.

The two of them went to school and together. Enchong took Kim to her room and left when Kim told him to do so.

The whole time class was in session Kim was just quiet but when her friends would talk to her she tries to sound cheerful and fine. She told them that Enchong would join them later at lunch.

Kim: Is it ok if Enchong comes with us at lunch time?

Mel: Oo naman.

Maja: Eh paano si Gerald?

Erich: Akon a lang magsasabi sa kanya. Maiintindihan naman niya siguro. (^_^)

Kim: (thinking) if I know tuwang tuwa ka dahil may rason ka na naman para lapitan at kausapin na naman si Ge! HMPF!

At lunch time, Enchong waited for Kim to get out of class by the door. When the whole barkada was out, they started to walk to lunch.

Enchong: Gerald, ok lang ba na andito ako?

Gerald: Oo naman pare. Bakit naman ako hindi magiging ok?

Enchong: Kasi nung huli tayong nagkita nagsuntukan tayo eh. Ayaw ko lang ng gulo. Saka gusto kong maging maayos tayo.

Gerald: hindi naman ako ang unang sumuntok noon eh. Of course ayaw ko din naman ng gulo. Ok tayo pare, no hard feelings. After all, we were close friends naman before. (^_^)

Enchong: salamat pare.

The two of them shook hands.

Kim: maigi naman at ok na kayo. Sa Jollibee na lang tayo kumain ok lang ba?

Barkada: sure!

All of them went to Jollibee to eat. In the middle of lunch, Kim told everyone that she needs to tell them something.

Kim: guys, may sasabihin nga pala ako sa inyo.

Mel: Ano yun Kim?

Kim: Stop eating first.

Everyone stopped eating and looked intently on Kim.

Gerald: mukhang seryoso ang sasabihin mo Kimmy nakaka kaba naman.

Kim looked down at her feet and started to talk.

Kim: K-kami…

Kim was having a hard time telling everyone so enchong decided to say it himself.

Enchong: What Kim wanted to say is that Kami na.

Barkada except Gerald: WHAT!?

Maja: kelan pa?

Beauty: Paano nangyari yun?

Kim was still quiet so Enchong answered all their questions.

Enchong: kahapon lang. Matagal ko ng nililigawan si Kim.

Enchong placed his hand on Kim’s shoulder while Kim was still looking at her feet.

Mel: well, uhmmm… Congrats?

Erich: Congrats sa inyong dalawa! I’m happy for you. Kayo din diba guys?

When Erich said this, Enchong looked at her with disgust.

Maja: ahaha… O-oo nga, congrats.

Empress: we’re happy for you.

Gerald: Congrats pare. Congrats Kimmy.

Gerald offered his hand to Enchong for a handshake.

Enchong: Salamat pare.

Enchong accepted Gerald’s offer but no one was about to let go and both are looking intensely at each other like there are sparks between their eyes.

Gerald: Ingatan mo siya pare. Pag sinaktan or pinaiyak mo siya ako makakalaban mo.

Enchong: Syempre. Kahit hindi mo pa sabihin yan talaga ang gagawin ko. Makaka sigurado kang hindi ko siya sasaktan.

Still no one was letting go of the handshake.

Beauty: ah, Ano! Tara kain na ulit tayo. Nakaka gutom ang revelations eh.

Erich: oo nga, kain na tayo.

Erich reached out for Gerald’s hand and pulled it away from Enchong’s grip.

When Kim saw this, she can’t help but surpress her tears, so she excused herself to go to the CR.

Kim: CR lang ako.

When Kim went to the CR, Gerald excused himself as well to go to the CR. The truth is he went to follow Kim.

Kim was about to enter the girl’s CR when Gerald took hold of her hand.

Gerald: Kimmy…

Kim heard him say her name and it made her want to cry harder. She can’t look at him coz she knows that when she does she would break down in front of him and that is the last thing she wants to happen. She took her hand from Gerald’s grasp and talked.

Kim: ah, Ge, maya na lang, naiihi na ako eh.

And she disappeared behind the door.

Gerald was left there standing shocked with how Kim reacted.

He went back to their seat and continued eating.

They noticed the Kim hasn’t returned yet, so the girls decided to look for her at the CR. When They got there, Kim was nowhere. Then they received a text message from Kim.

From: Kim

                Umuwi n aq coz my head started aching… pasabi n lg sa teachers… tnx…

When they read the message they decided to go back to their seats and told the boys that Kim went home.

Gerald: masakit ang ulo? Eh ok lang siya kanina ah.

Enchong: pabayaan mo na pare, pagod lang siguro yun.

Gerald: Bakit hindi ka nag-aalala eh yung girlfriend mo bigla na lang umuwi tapos masakit ang ulo? Anong klase kang boyfriend?

Enchong: Relax ka lang pare. Wag mong questionin ang pagiging boyfriend ko, naiintindihan ko kasi siya kaya hindi ako nag papanic.

Gerald: Naiintindihan? Paano?

Enchong: Basta. Pabayaan mo na muna si Kim. Sige una na ako.

Enchong left leaving Gerald confused.

Erich: Gerald, wag ka ng mag-alala kaya na ni Kim ang sarili niya ok. Kumain ka na lang.

Gerald did what Erich said.

Enchong called Kim’s cellphone and asked if she was ok and where she was.

Kim: hello?

Enchong: Kim, asan ka?

Kim: nasa may field lang ako bakit?

Enchong: bigla ka na lang kasing umalis eh. Puntahan kita diyan ha.

Kim: ok.

Then they hanged up.

Enchong went immediately to the field and saw Kim sitting at the same bench from before.

Enchong: Kim…

Kim: Enchong, masakit pala talaga ang makitang may ibang nag-aalaga at nagmamahal sa taong mahal mo no.

Enchong: oo, masakit talaga yan. Pero mas masakit na nasasaktan ang taong mahal mo dahil sa taong mahal niya at hindi ikaw yun.

Kim: Sorry Chong.

Enchong: wag ka ngang mag sorry parang sobrang nakaka awa naman ako niyan eh.

Kim: that’s not what I wanted to mean.

Enchong: I know. Pero ang tanong, kakayanin mo pa bang nakikita sila?

Kim: syempre naman kaya kong Makita ang barkada.

Enchong: not them Kim. Si Erich at Gerald ang ibig kong sabihin.

Kim: ohhh. Hindi ko alam Chong. Parang mahihirapan ako ng sobra kung makikita ko sila palagi. Lalo na pag makikita kong masaya sila ni Erich. Pero kailangan kong tiisin para sa barkada.

Enchong: Gusto mo tulungan kita?

Kim: ano ka ba Chong. Tinutulongan mo na ako ah.

Enchong: No, I mean tutulungan kitang hindi na mahirapan pag nakikita mo yung dalawa.

Kim: Paano?

Enchong: ako na ang bahala. Just say yes and I will do the rest.

Kim: Ok, sabi mo eh.

Enchong: Kim, alam mo minsan ok lang ang maging malungkot or tahimik.

Kim: Ok lang ba kung maging tahimik muna ako?

Enchong: syempre naman. Pero sasamahan kita habang nananahimik ka para hindi ka lonely. (^_^)

Kim: salamat. (^_^)

They just stayed quiet feeling the comforting presence of each other. After a while they decided to go home and they skipped class.

Everything became a routine. Enchong was always with Kim especially in front of the barkada. Kim would only talk when she was with her barkada pretending that there is nothing wrong, then Enchong would take Kim away when he notices Erich’s approaches towards Gerald. Enchong is not oblivious with the glares that Gerald gives him everytime he takes Kim away, but he just shrugs it off to save Kim from the pain.

When the barkada asks to go out, Kim would always ask who are they going with and when she hears Erich’s name or even Gerald’s she would tell them that Enchong and her have a date or something. There is no night that she didn’t cry herself to sleep. At first her eyes get swollen but as time passed, it seems like her eyes are getting used to it.

This became her routine, this continued for a long time and is still continuing now that they are a month away from graduating 4^th year high school.

But what hurt her the most was during their senior prom. It was the day that Kim’s world and heart fell apart. It was the day when she saw Gerald and Erich kissing.
