Kim: Gerald, I’m sorry.

Gerald: Ayan ka na naman sa pag-so-sorry eh. Wala kang kasalanan. Ako ang pumili nito. Ako ang nagpumilit ditto. I just want to know one thing Kimmy. I think I deserve a straight answer.

Kim: What is it Ge?

Gerald: Do you like Enchong?

Kim: (_ _ ) Ge…

Gerald: I’m asking you Kim. Do. You. Like. Enchong?

Kim kept quiet and not answering Gerald.

Gerald: Kim, tell me! Tell me! Do you like Enchong?

Kim is still not answering and this made Gerald irritated.

Gerald: DAMN IT KIM! ANSWER ME!

Kim was surprised when Gerald shouted at her because since they became best friends she has never heard Gerald scream at her like that. Tears started to fall from Kim’s eyes.

When Gerald saw Kim crying, he calmed down a bit and got nearer to where Kim is.

Gerald: shhhh… Kimmy, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to shout at you like that. I’m sorry. Please stop crying.

Kim: (sobbing) s-sorry Ge.

Gerald: I was just really pissed when you kept on not answering my question. After all that I have done for you as a suitor at least I deserve to know that answer Kim.

Kim: I-I don’t know how to tell you Ge. I really don’t know. (crying harder)

Gerald hugged Kim.

Gerald: Just tell me. Don’t think of me for a while and just tell me ok.

Kim broke away from the hug.

Kim: I don’t want to. I don’t want. I can’t tell you. I don’t want things to change.

Gerald: Kimmy, nothing would change. I promised you that diba? I won’t leave you no matter what.

Kim: But…

Gerald: No more buts Kimmy. Just tell me. I would accept whatever your answer would be.

Kim: I-I do like Enchong.

Kim started to cry once again.

Kim: I’m sorry Ge. I didn’t mean to like him. It just happened. I didn’t want to hurt you. I wanted to love you. I really did. I tried. I’m really sorry Ge. (TT_TT)

Gerald: (deep sigh) finally you answered.

Gerald approached Kim.

Gerald: Don’t say sorry. I was the one who decided to pursue you and not you. I’m just happy that I know that you at least tried to love me. Unfortunately you can’t. I understand. (^_^)

Kim: Would you avoid me now? What would happen to us?

Gerald: Of course not. Why would I do that? I just failed being your lover not being you friend. We would still be the same; me as your best friend and “Kuya” and you as my ‘lil sis. (^_^) So smile na ikaw. I don’t like seeing you like that.

Kim: but Ge… Wouldn’t it be hard for you when you see me with you know, him?

Gerald: It would. It would really be hard but I can get through. What I can’t take is being away from you. I can take all the pain in this world but not the pain of not being with you. I still love you, you know. (^_^)

Kim: Ge…

Gerald: But don’t worry. I’ll try to hide that. I won’t hope for anything more than just your bestfriend. So don’t worry about me ok. One day, I’ll be able to move on and when that time comes you’ll be the first to know. (^_^)

After Gerald talked Kim hugged him tightly which caught Gerald by surprise.

Kim: I’m so lucky to have a bestfriend/Kuya just like you. Thank you Ge! (^_^)

Gerald: Anything for you Kimmy. Diba sabi ko sayo ang mission ko sa mundong ito ay ang paligayahi ka and that’s what I’m going to do till the end. (^_^) Basta masaya ka, masaya na din ako.

After the hug, Kim decided to call her barkada to tell that to open the door. In an instant they heard a click and the door opened wide showing everyone in Kim’s barkada.

Mel: Bati na kayo?

Maja: Ok na ba ang lahat?

Erich: Ok ka na ba Gerald?

Empress: Ok ka na ba Ate Kim?

Beauty: Sasagot ba kayo?

Kim and Gerald smiled at them.

KIMERALD: OO. Ok na! (^_^)

Barkada: MAIGI NAMAN!

Everyone started laughing.

Maja: Buti at tapos na ang yugtong ito n gating mga buhay.

Empress: OO nga! Nagulo ang mga buhay naming ng dahil sa hindi pagpansin mo Gerald kay Ate Kim!

Gerald: (O_O) bakit?

Mel: Eh kasi naman po. Ang ating Kim ay lagging emote dahil hindi mo nga pinapansin kaya naman nagambala kami.

Erich: Kaya eto, pati ospital ginambala din naming para lang magkabati na kayo!

Gerald: Paano niyo nga ba nahiram itong hospital room na ito?

Beauty: Kami kasi ang may ari nitong hospital kaya kinausap lang naming sina mama and poof! Ok na! (^_^)

Gerald: (O_O) Kayo?! Wow!

Kim elbowed Gerald and whisphered.

Kim: ayos ka din ah. Gulat na gulat eh mayaman ka din naman.

Gerald: Syempre acting din para hindi mahalata. (^_^)

Maja: Ehem ehem! Andito pa po kami!

Erich: Ano bay an nag kabati lang balik bulungan na ulit!

Kim: (>///<) ehhh, sorry sorry.

Gerald: Tara na nga. Itigil na natin ito. Ayaw ko sa mga ospital kaya Alis na tayo. Libre ko na lang kayo kahit saan niyo gusto. Celebration na din dahil bati na kami ni Kimmy. (^_^)

BARKADA: GAME!

All of them headed out of the hospital and went to a restaurant where they chose.

Everyone was having fun eating, talking and joking around.

Maja: wait. Teka lang. sandali.

Mel: oh bakit Maja?

Maja: kanina pa kasi tayo kain ng kain at kwentuhang kwentuhan dito but we still don’t know what happened inside that hospital room. So spill it Kim and Gerald. Ano ang nangyari sa loob? (-_^)

Kim: uhmmmm. Wala, nag-usap lang. wala ng iba.

Beauty: hmmmmm… I smell something fishy. May itinatago ka sa amin. Ano yun?

Kim: Ahhh, eh… ano kasi…

Erich: Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu. Ano ang nangyari sa loob? Sumagot ka! (-_^)

Gerald was about to take a bite when Kim pulled his hand down and ate the food instead.

Gerald: (-_-) bakit mo kinain yung pagkain ko?

Kim: Ge! Tulungan mo naman akong sumagot. Kain ka ng kain diyan eh!

Gerald: ok fine! Basta akin na yang food mo since you ate mine!

Kim: No way! Never!

Gerald: Fine! Hindi ako sasagot bahala ka diyan. Hindi ko din babayaran ang kinain mo! (sticks his tongue out)

Kim: EHHHH GE!!!!

Gerald: Deal or No Deal. (with matching actions)

Kim: Fine! Deal.

Gerald: (^_^) good choice.

Maja: Ano ok na ba? Pwede na kayong sumagot? Kanina pa kami naghihintay ng sagot.

Gerald: Sinabi ko lang kay Kim na ayaw ko na sa kanya tapos ayon ok na. (^_^)

BARKADA: (O_O) WHAT?!

Gerald: Anung what?

Maja: Ayaw mo na kay Kim?

Mel: Bakit?

Erich: May iba ka ng gusto?

Empress: yung Lyda ba?

Beauty: Girls! Tara sa bahay nung Lyda nay un! Sugudin natin at kalbohin!

BARKADA: KALBOHIN!

Kim: OPPPPSSSS!!! Teka! Mag hulos dili kayo. Upo!

The whole barkada sat down as Kim ordered them.

Kim elbowed Gerald and whisphered.

Kim: hoy, ano ba yang pinagsasabi mo. pati tuloy si lyda nadamay. Bakit di mo na lang sinabi yung totoo?

Gerald: ahhh gusto mo yung totoo. Yung may gusto ka kay Enchong and all. Sige ok lang ipapaalam ko sa kanila kahit alam kong hindi pa nila alam.

Gerald was about to talk when Kim closed his mouth.

Gerald: oh bakit? Akala ko ba gusto mo yung totoo.

Kim: I change my mind. Nahihiya akong malaman nila. Pero ano isasagot mo sa kanila?

Gerald: Ako ang bahala. I’ll make up a story.

Gerald started answering the questions.

Gerald: oo ayaw ko na sa kanya. Hindi, walang iba. Lalong hindi si Lyda.

Empress: Eh bakit nga?

Gerald: I found out that I like guys pala. (^_^)

BARKADA: BADING KA?!

Kim: WHAT?!

Gerald: (laughs loudly) you should have seen your faces! EPIC! Grabe! Joke lang yun no! hindi ako bading!

Erich: so hindi ka bading. At walang iba. Eh ano?

Gerald: Secret ko nay un. (^_^) malay niyo isa dun sa sinabi niyo ang totoo.

Mel: You do like somebody else!

Erich: Sino?

Gerald: Secret ulit! (^_^)

Maja: Kim! Papayag k aba ditto? Anong gusto mo hanapin naming yung babae at patayin? Sabihin mo lang gagawin naming talaga! Right Girls?

BARAKDA: RIGHT!

Kim: Magsi tigil nga kayo. Pabayaan niyo na nga. Hindi nga ako galit tapos kayo maka react. OA lang?

Beauty: Pero Kim, hindi kami papaya na naaagrabyado ka.

Kim: Eh hindi naman eh. (whisphering) ako naman talaga ang may ibang gusto hindi si Ge. (_ _ )

Maja: Ano yung huli Kim?

Kim: Ahhh wala sabi ko suportahan na lang natin si Ge diba. Kung ako yung may ibang gusto susuportahan niyo naman ako diba?

BARAKDA: oo naman!

Kim: So ganun din dapat kayo kay Ge. (^_^)

BARKADA: FINE!

Everyone just kept eating. After that, they started going home one by one and saying good bye. Gerald took Kim home.

Kim: Thank you for understanding Ge.

Gerald: Tama na ang pag tha-thank you. Ok na diba.

Kim: Basta thank you pa rin. Thank you din for covering for me sa barkada. Ikaw pa tuloy yung lumabas na masama dahil akala nila may iba kang gusto. (_ _)

Gerald: Wala yun. Basta para sayo. Sige una na ako gabi na din eh.

Kim: Hindi ka na ba papasok? Nasa loob sina mama, ayaw mo bang magpakita muna?

Gerald: Wag na Kimmy. Hindi ko din alam ang sasabihin sa kanila saka nahihiya ako.

Kim: Bakit ka naman mahihiya? Eh par aka na nilang anak.

Gerald: nakakahiya lang kasi na lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila na magiging boyfriend mo ako at magiging tunay na anak nila ako someday pero iba naman ang gusto mo. (_ _)

Kim: Ge… I-I don’t know what to say.

Gerald: You don’t have to say anything Kimmy. Ok lang naman eh. Sige una na ako. Good night. (^_^)

Kim: Sige, Ingat ka. Text mo ako pag nakauwi ka na.

Gerald just smiled at Kim and started to walk away. As he was walking tears were streaming down his face. He just kept on walking until he got to the abandoned playground; where everything started.

Gerald: Bakit ba kasi ako naandito nung mga panahong yun? Bakit ba kasi pumunta pa siya ditto noon? Bakit ba kasi nahulog at nabagok pa siya? Eh di sana hindi ko siya nakita, hindi ko siya tinulungan, hindi ako nainlove sa kanya at sana hindi ako nasasaktan ng ganito ngayon. Ang sakit! SH*T! Ang sakit sakit! this life! I did everything, but I guess it’s still not enough. I tried very hard and I failed. I hate this feeling! I hate that I love her so much that I can’t live without her. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Gerald stayed at the playground for hours when his phone rung.

Gerald: hello?

Kim: Ge!

Gerald: oh, ikaw pala Kimmy. Bakit?

Kim: Oh, bakit ganyan ang boses mo?

Gerad: ahhh, ano kasi, kagigising ko lang. Tama, kagigising ko lang. Why did you call?

Kim: ahh, ganun ba. Sorry nagising pa kita. Eh kasi I was worried. You told me you would text me when you get home and it’s already been hours since you took me home and you’re still not texting so I called you.

Gerald: ahhh, nakalimutan ko lang sorry. Pagod na pagod kasi ako e.

Kim: ahhh, ok. Sige tulog ka na ulit. Good night. Sweet dreams.

Gerald: ok.

Then Gerald hanged up.

Gerald’s phone rung again.

Gerald: hello?

Mang Cardo: Gerald! Gabing gabi na! Asan k aba? Susunduin na kita.

Gerald: Mang Cardo, sorry po hindi ako nakapag sabi. Sunduinn niyo na lang po ako sa 7/11 sa may school.

Mang Cardo: Oh sige, hintayin mo ako.

After the conversation, Gerald took off and went to 7/11 to wait for Mang Cardo. When Mang Cardo came Gerald got inside the car.

Mang Cardo: Gerald, ok ka lang ba? Mukhang umiyak ka ah.

Gerald: Ok lang po ako Mang Cardo.

Mang Cardo: Alam mo namang pag may problem aka pwede mong sabihin sa akin.

Gerald: Salamat po sa pag aalala Mang Cardo. Pero pwede po bang pumunta muna tayong Tagaytay?

Mang Cardo: Mukhang malaki ang problema mo ah. O sige, tawagan mo ang parents mo at magsabi ka.

Gerald took his phone out and made an overseas call to ask his parents’ permission.

Gerald: Ma, can I go to Tagaytay?

Mommy Vangie: oh why? Don’t you have school tomorrow?

Gerald: I just want to take a little vacation and relax. I do have school tomorrow but I really need this. Please mom. I am ahead of my class so you shouldn’t worry about my grades.

Mommy Vangie: Gerald, is there a problem? You are not like that. You don’t skip school even if you are stressed out with projects and exams. What’s the matter son?

Gerald’s voice started to crack.

Gerald: You know Kimmy right?

Mommy Vangie: Yes, the girl you are courting. Your bestfriend right? What about her? Don’t tell me that she…

Gerald: Well, she did. She likes someone else.

Mommy Vangie: Oh my! I’m so sorry son. I can talk to her if you want. I can ask her to give you another chance.

Gerald: There is no need mom. I can handle it on my own. I already decided to stop courting her though. I also told her that I understand.

Mommy Vangie: Gerald… So what’s your plan now?

Gerald: I promised her before that no matter what happens I won’t leave her, so I guess I’ll continue to be her bestfriend. After all, an Anderson’s keeps their promises.

Mommy Vangie: Son, don’t be a masochist. What if she answers the guy she likes? You would only get hurt more especially when you see them together. Don’t do this to yourself son.

Gerald: It would hurt, but its nothing compared to the pain of not being with her mom. I can bare the pain of seeing her happy with the one she likes but not the pain of not being with her. I just can’t.

Mommy Vangie: But son… How will you be able to move on if you won’t distance yourself from her?

Gerald: I don’t know. I guess I need to find out a way.

Mommy Vangie: You really do love this girl huh?

Gerald: Yes mom. I love her so much.

Mommy Vangie: Ok, whatever you decide on doing I will just support you. You know that I am just a call away. If you need anything or you want to talk just call me ok?

Gerald: mom, I wish you were here. So that I can hug you right now.

Mommy Vangie: Oh Gerald. I’m sorry if I can’t be with you there in the Philippines. You know that your father and I are handling our businesses here. If you just stayed here with us I’ll give you a hug everyday.

Gerald: I know mom.

Mommy Vangie: Ok, it seems like you really do need a break. I’ll call your school and ask them to excuse you. I’ll just tell them that you had to deal with something urgent.

Gerald: Thanks mom. I love you. Tell dad the same. I miss you guys.

Mommy Vangie: Anything for you Gerald. Your father and I love you too. Take care ok. Call me.

Gerald hanged up and told Mang Cardo to head straight to Tagaytay.
