2 years later

“Come on, Ryden, its getting dark.”

Ryden shook his head pulling away from Kyuhyun’s hands. He continued staring at the name engraved on the stone. Ryden sniffed and the stone. It had two years… Two years since Kiara died and although it was starting to get better, Ryden was still upset about his mother’s death. Ryden the gravestone, his tears streaming down again. Kyuhyun squatted behind Ryden and pulled the boy into a hug from the back.

“It’s okay, baby.” Kyuhyun whispered, wiping the tears away.

“I miss, Umma.” Ryden rested against Kyuhyun. “I miss Umma so much.”

“I know you do.” Ryeowook gave Ryden a warm smile. “But she’s in a better place right now with Andy appa.”

“But she didn’t have to leave.” Ryden sniffed. “Why did Umma have to leave me alone?”

“She never left, baby. She’s always watching over you.” Ryeowook said and then taking Ryden’s hands and placing it on his chest. “She’s in our hearts and there’s where she will always be.”

“And you’re not alone. You will never be alone, Ryden.” Kyuhyun smiled. “Now say goodbye, baby. We have to get going.”

Ryden nodded and Kyuhyun let go of him. All of them stepping back giving Ryden some time for his own. Ryeowook watched his handsome son, his eyes filled with so much sorrow. Ryden sniffed as he the boquet of flower he had picked up by himself. It was a beautiful bouquet of red and pnk roses exactly Kiara’s favourite. 2 years passed and Ryden has surely grown. He was much taller now although his handsome face stayed exactly the same. He still had those adorable baby cheeks and his huge beautiful eyes. Ryeowook pitied Ryden. After losing his mum, Ryden changed. He was sad almost all the time and although he was starting to improve, Ryeowook couldn’t imagine how broken his heart had been.

“Umma, I have to go now.” Ryden said softly, closing his eyes. “I miss you, Umma. I miss sleeping next to you and I miss your hugs and kisses. I’ve been keeping my promise, Umma. All of them. I love you, Umma. I hope that you are happy wherever you are. Siwonnie appa told me that… that God loves you and that’s why he took umma away. But… Can’t you tell Him that I love you more? Hae Appa told me that you are doing angel duty because Umma is nice and loves everyone. Umma… Please be my angel. The other kids at school don’t need angels cause they all already have their ummas…I need you, Umma. ”

Ryden placed the flower down. “Umma.. I miss you everyday. I hope you come back.   Please tell God that I love you more.”

Ryden traced Kiara’s name. “I love you, Umma. Forever and always.”

Ryden finally opened his eyes as he took one last look at the name before heading back to Kyuhyun’s side. Kyuhyun kissed Ryden’s hair giving him an encouraging smile. Ryeowook ruffled his hair too and wiped away Ryden’s tears.

“We’ll meet you at the car, Wookie.” Kyuhyun said.

Ryeowook nodded and watched as Kyuhyun took Ryden’s hand in his and they started making their way out of the cemetery and to the car. Ryeowook sighed and turned his attention back to Kiara’s grave. It was not supposed to be like this. Kiara wasn’t supposed to leave them. Ryeowook smiled sadly thinking of her beautiful smile and laughter. Why did she have to leave them so soon? Dying because of a stupid complication in her body during the pregnancy? Up to this day, Ryeowook wished he had done something. He should have gotten her better vitamins during her pregnancy. He should have brought her to more check-ups. He should have… Aish. It was no use now wasn’t it? Kiara would never come back.

“It’s been awhile, hasn’t it, K?” Ryeowook chuckled. “I’m sorry for not bringing Ryden along more often. SuJu’s been crazy busy. Our comeback was a success and we’re rehearsing for Super Shows now. We managed to include a lot more countries than the previous year and I can’t wait for all the touring to start.”

Ryeowook cleared his throat. “Ryden is going to love all the travelling. We found a great tutor and caretaker for him. Heechul hyung and Leeteuk hyung went through at least six people before they finally found a suitable one for Ryden. He’ll be homeschooled so you don’t have to worry. He’s getting better nowadays. Every time he’s bothered with something, he’ll talk to his appas. He bothers Donghae hyung a lot but that’s okay I guess since both of them are pretty close. He recently showed interest in martial arts and boxing and Kangin hyung is taking him to classes. He’s been interested in dancing too and every now and then you’ll find him and Eunhyuk hyung dancing to our latest songs together. He stopped crying every night and he looks a lot calmer now.
