D.O : Don't Cry
EXO Drabbles
I turned away from the figure beside me, curling myself up into a fetus position. A lump formed in my throat as I sniffled. My eyes were starting to grow hot as my heart wrenched in sympathy at the crying little girl on the screen. I struggled to contain a sob, but failed, the sound escaping from my lips raggedly.
"Hey... Are you crying?" he whispered, his wide eyes filled with concern.
Slowly he reached for my face, grazing my cheek with his thumb. For a moment, the soft touch of his fingers disappeared when he lifted his hand, but it came back before I could miss it, brushing stray strands of my hair out of my face.
"Come here," he coaxed, his voice smooth and reassuring.
I inched towards him, resting my head on his shoulder and hugging my knees up to my chest. However, he had another thing in mind. He pried my hands away from my knees with his soft touch, pulling me into a hug. With nowhere to hide, I allowed my arms to wrap around his sides and rested my head on his chest. I could feel every breath he took, every rapid beat his heart did and every reassuring word he whispered.
"Shh..." he mumbled, his warm breath tickling my ear.
For a while, we just stayed like that, with my sniffles breaking the silence. Relishing in each other's company and for me, the reassurance and safety of his arms. His muscles tensed up from under his shirt and I guessed that he was getting rather bothered by how I couldn't stop sobbing, reluctantly, I pulled myself away from him and avoided his eyes.
"What's wrong?" worry showing in his tone.
"Sorry, you must be getting irritated. I'll... Find a way to stop," I blurted, voice shaking as I began to hiccup.
"No, no that's not it," he exclaimed quickly, his hand finding mine.
"I just don't like to see you sad."
Once again, he pulled me into a hug, a tighter one this time, where I had no chance of escaping. Obliging, I returned the gesture, burying my face into his warm chest. He my hair and nuzzled the crown of my head, before pressing a kiss to my forehead. His lips found mine, pressing onto them tenderly and silencing the hiccup that had risen in my throat. He pulled back, pressing another two kisses onto each of my eyelids before resting his chin on my head.
"So baby don't cry, cry..." he sang beside my ear, his voice soothing my nerves.
"My love will protect you."
A/N : Just in case anyone's wondering, the last sentence is a lyric from Baby Don't Cry. Just in case.
