Don't Ask
In the Rain, Stars AlignDon't ask what those letters, symbols, and numbers on my shirt mean
Because clearly if you don't understand, you're not part of the group
It takes a true math lover to decipher these variable and formulas
(Dude, your shirt contains equations from chemistry and physics.)
Don't ask those irritating questions about my religion
God is the one and only truth, and Christ died to save our sins
As a result, we can dictate to others how should we live, whether they agree or not
(Are you saying there is a purpose to our suffering?)
Don't ask for any more regulations
We are the party against rules, we stand for freedom
If we do not put up a fight, this country will go to tyranny
(But limiting birth control is the same as regulation)
Don't ask for us to stand with the old rules
The young generations and minorities stand by us, therefore we are the party of progress
Equality and rights are what we stand for
(Yet the case for reverse discrimination, is that considered progress?)
Don't ask whether I know what I'm doing
If you wanted my position in this corrupted organization, you should have run for it
But I was the only one willing, therefore don't tell me what to do, I'm clearly the most qualified
(You were trying to teach her factorization, but you didn't bother asking her if she knew what a factor was.)
Don't ask why I was missing and didn't show up to work on our project
I only expect that you do your part even though you need my permission to write what you want
It's completely unfair you leave me to finish it because you need to go to school
(How was I supposed to know your father died if you didn't tell me?)
Don't ask what happened 25 years ago
Nothing happened, and we will shut down all the code words to spread the truth
Listen to us and we promise to rule you fairly
(You kill hundreds of your own people, which obviously is “ruling fairly”.)
Don't ask me to show my face while I state my opinions
I have the right to be anonymous and pierce you behind my mask
That way you cannot find me and try to get on even ground
(Yet would you be offended if I called you a coward?)
Don't ask me to forgive you
The pain you inflicted still remains no matter whether your intentions were malicious or not
I still stand for what I thought you said no matter what, I will never compromise
(If you never forgive me, will you ever forgive yourself?)
