When I received a text that summer day

"Hey I want to ask ________ to prom, can you tell me reason why not to?"

SQUEE

-pant pant pant-

BOING

I'm squealing so high that no sound comes out of my mouth

As I jump for joy on my bed over and over

And then I tell him.

And he decides to still ask.

It's been two years and my glee for them has never faded.

I click on the familiar triangular button

And the sound of his flute wires into my earbuds

I sit for a moment speechless before

"OH, it's IT'S SONG OF MY LIFE BY ONE DIRECTION"

And suddenly a medley of love songs begins

I'm amazed as everyone around joins in but-

"NO STOP START OVER YOU GUYS CAME IN A PHRASE EARLY"

Classic. 

Of course I applaud as the girl replies "Yes" in a tearful voice.

And yet

Whenever I'm given the same key

Why can't I say yes?
