Past and Present pt. 3
In the Rain, Stars AlignAlmost Twin
Do you remember when we first?
I can't either.
I just remember how we used to pretend to be firefighters with some airpumps we found in the basement
And you would play with me even your other guy friends pretended to be to cool to play with "cooties"
Maybe that's why you were one of the few guys at my birthday parties
We were only close because we were born only 4 days apart?
Yet the difference between us was also much
You were always the "genius"-there was no one else we knew who learned calculus in THIRD GRADE
I was just the awkward girl who wanted to be as brilliant as you
You're still a star, with no one else to compare
But thanks to you, I now shine in a place that never knew what was going to hit them until I came
Now that there are 200 miles between us
Have we let each other go?
Maybe, but there's still something about the sweet taste of childhood that keeps us close
A friendship that makes us recognize the other one
The way you covered yourself in foil for your dorky promposal (but still very tasteful I must say) to another childhood friend of mine
The way you said happy birthday to me by saying "Celebration of Birth!"
Classic.
If I ever meet you again, I hope our conversation is sprinkled with laughter that only occurs betwen old friends
Even if you never read this, I think you know
You'll always make me smile.
