I stand here, hugging myself

As I see love seep through the cracks in the ground.

Why?

Two couples who seemed to have the world in their hands

Falling apart, pulling themselves into pieces

Why?

I thought loving someone meant being by their side,

Through sickness and health, through success and failure.

Why?

How can two people that pledged to be together forever

Suddenly become two strangers with a wall separating them?

Why?

But there is no answer to my desparate cry in the wind

As Fate laughs and does as she pleases

But perhaps I should say nothing

Only to silently walk towards the people who find themselves stranded

To let them know that we were all born alone in this world

We are kindred spirits in that sense.

We need no soulmates to keep us warm,

WE ARE WARM BLOODED MAMMALS AM I RIGHT?

And so for now my dreams of finding someone to grow old with

Are tucked away in quaint drawer

Waiting for me to remember

And clutch them with hope again.
