Chapter 46

Forever

Author’s POV:

Jessica’s Pregnancy Calendar – Week 9

“They should be all be sent out before the weekend is over.” Jessica sounded sure as they were busy writing out letters. “They don’t live that far. We could probably send it to them ourselves.”

“I already see them mauling our front door after they receive this.” Kris sighed, rather in contentment, as he continued to scribble on the card.

The couple was busy writing and putting together cards that were to be sent to the members. Both Jessica and Kris agreed that telling the group about baby blip in a letter was much more safe than telling them in person. They didn’t want the whole group becoming a whole big emotional mess in front of them, nor did they want the feelings to get overboard and risk Jessica getting huge bear hugs. It was better to inform them on paper. It was less awkward and nervous for them.

Each envelope included a card and printed copy of baby blip’s ultrasound. Of course, the couple knew whoever would open the mail would be confused immediately at the ultrasound picture that looked like a blurry picture of nothing. So, they included a card with the big announcement along with their names on the bottom of the message to end it.

“You’re scribbling.” Jessica noticed how Kris’ handwriting got sloppier than the beginning.

“It’s just Suho’s card. It’s okay.” Kris brushed it off, feeling lazy already thinking about the guy.

Jessica gave him a dull look before casually walking into the bathroom to release her bladder for the twentieth time of the day. “I let you write these cards because you promised me that you were going to be neat.” She called out to him while she was still in the restroom, considering that the door was and always will be open.

“I am, though!” Kris defended himself, still talking to her while in the bedroom. “Did you see how neat I was for the first ten cards?” he gasped.

“Kris…I wrote those ten cards.” Jessica came back out after washing her hands with an amused expression on her face.

Kris pouted his lips before straightening himself on the vanity bench and tried to write neater. “…I think I’ll start writing neater on the next card. Suho could read my writing anyways. It doesn’t matter.” He quickly signed his name on the bottom.

Jessica took the initiative and switched their pile of cards. “How about I write them…and you place them into the envelopes?” she ended up finishing Suho’s card neatly for Kris.

With productivity, Jessica would hand Kris the finished cards and he would stuff the individually labeled envelopes with them along with the picture. He would seal them with a strip of tape and stack them on the table, with all the postal stamps in place. If there was one thing Kris couldn’t do with letters and mail, it would be writing them.

“Done.” Jessica smiled when she handed Kris the last card.

“Time for dinner!” Kris cheered after sticking the last envelope on the pile of mail that was to be mailed the morning after before they head off to work.

Jessica huffed out a breath. “Yep. What do you want to eat?” she sighed out a short breath of air. “Are you craving…Chinese food?” she breathed out in between her sentence.

Kris just couldn’t help but grin at his cute wife. Lately, Jessica has been a little out of breath. Little blip must be doing lots of growing inside of her and making her out of breath from time to time. The husband only found it cute and adorable, since she would have a short pause in her sentences.

“That sounds really good right now.” Kris smiled, leaning closer to her, knowing that his wife’s cooking abilities expands all the time, since she exchanges recipes with his mother. It also benefits Kris a lot and he appreciates it, since he can have a bigger variety for meals.

“Okay.” Jessica only cupped his face before standing up.

“Whoa~” Kris’ eyes widened and blinked as he examined his wife’s body. “Babe, you’re starting to show.”

Jessica crooked her head and stood with her body facing Kris as she looked at her reflection from her vanity table. “Is it noticeable?” she lifted up her shirt for a better view.

Kris reached up and placed his hand over her tummy, feeling it. “You’re starting to have a bump. It’s a small one.” He knew her body as much as she knew about his. “It’s not too noticeable.”

His wife huffed. “It feels like I have a bigger bump than this. I feel and look bloated.” She pouted, caressing her stomach.

Kris shuffled so that she stood in between his legs before he placed a sweet kiss on her tummy. “It’s okay.” He shimmied her shirt back down and held onto her hips. “You still look beautiful, no matter what you look like or feel.”

Jessica smiled at him and gave him a deserving kiss to the lips. “My husband always knows what to say.”

“Of course,” he boasted. “Your man is amazing at making you feel good.” Kris grinned suggestively.

Jessica only nudged him. “My man?” she quirked up an amused eyebrow, caressing his jaw line.

Your man.” Kris reiterated. “Which makes you my lady. My woman.” He made her straddle him possessively.

“I thought you were hungry.” Jessica wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I am.” Kris had a mischievous smirk.

Jessica only blinked at him with doting eyes. “Then I suggest you bring me downstairs and into the kitchen so I can cook you something.”

“Ooh~ A change of scenery. . I like it.” Kris inched their faces closer, almost connecting their lips together.

Jessica only stuck her finger in front of his plush lips. “I was being serious, babe. If you don’t let me go into the kitchen now, I’m going to stay here and relax, maybe sleep, for the rest of the night. We’re going to starve.”

Kris took a moment and thought about it. No energy equals no fun or excitement. Food is a must. Shall continue this teasing game later.

Making his choice clear, Kris lifted her up in his arms, still having her hugging onto him. “For a beautiful pregnant woman, you’re still as light as a feather.” He kissed her nose, telling her that her weight hasn’t changed at all and he was speaking truthfully, making her smile.

“I want a banana.” Jessica sighed, slumping her head back on the headrest.

Kris only snickered. “You would’ve gotten a banana last night if you didn’t fall asleep so fast.” He referred to other things.

Jessica only smacked his arm. “You’re really on a roll with those jokes.” She noticed, which only meant that he’s been deprived. “I just really feel like eating a banana.”

“Don’t worry, we’re having lunch after your scan.” Kris leaned towards her, resting himself on her chair. “If only the doctor would get here.” He sighed, being impatient with having Doctor Lee run late.

“I might need to pee soon…” Jessica wanted to be sure she could make it to the restroom soon.

“If the guy wasn’t taking so long, we would’ve been out of here by now.” Kris complained, groaning at the tardiness of their doctor.

“It hasn’t been that long.” She ran her fingers through his hair. “I’m sure he’s dealing with another patient.”

“The guy needs to work on time management.” Kris groaned unhappily, not to mention that he was also hungry. This wasn’t what he imagined his Saturday to be.

A knock sounded on the door and the two looked in that direction. The door opened and Donghae popped in with his usual smile. Dressed in a white medical coat, he looked the same as he did the past couple weeks that they’ve visited for their checkup.

“Hello, Jessica and Kris.” Donghae quickly started to put on his latex gloves. “Sorry to be late. There are many appointments today.”

“That’s fine. There must be many more soon-to-be mommies.” Jessica grinned, as she was also part of that category as well.

Kris only grunted and remained slumped in his seat. He thought the doctor shouldn’t even be smiling. The guy made them wait over ten minutes and has the audacity to smile like nothing ever happened. Did Kris mention that he still didn’t like Doctor Lee?

“Yes there are.” Donghae smiled and glided his way over on his seat. “Alright, so how have the several weeks been after the checkup?”

“Great, actually.” Jessica gladly responded, being comfortable around her doctor. “I have to use the bathroom like twenty times a day, like you said.” She laughed, making Doctor Lee grin at her words. “I’ve been having a lot different cravings and the fatigue is really making me tired. I take constant naps everyday.”

Donghae nodded his head. “That’s perfectly normal. It may take a while for you to get used to the changes your body is making.”

“I’ve also felt bloated for the past week. I’m not sure if it’s the baby or if it’s just me.” Jessica held her stomach. “Kris and I noticed the small bump last night.”

“Well, you’re on your ninth week. You should be starting to at least show a bit. Nothing too noticeable, but you should be starting to feel the change. The stomach area should be tightening and you already have the normal symptoms.” Donghae spoke as he started to set up his machine. “So, have you been doing any exercises like I’ve instructed?”

Jessica stilled for a second with a guilty look on her face before they both broke out in a short chuckle. “I’ve been too tired lately. We’ve strolled for a while at an outlet a couple weeks ago, but with the pregnancy and work going on, I haven’t found time.”

Donghae understood. “There are other ways in which you could find time to fit in some exercises. They don’t have to be extreme. Just walking to and from a local convenience store is good, maybe even around the neighborhood. Just try to get in at the very least ten minutes of normal exercises. Stretches, lunges, or any type of prenatal routines will work.”

Jessica nodded and took mental notes. “Oh!” she remembered. “Is it normal for my feet to ache? We attended a party dinner weeks back and my feet just started to hurt after a while.”

“Were you by chance wearing heels?” Donghae crooked his head, obviously having experience with this frequently asked question.

“Yes I was.” Jessica blinked, a bit surprised that her doctor guessed so correctly.

Donghae chuckled. “Women tend to wear heels a lot. Even when they get used to wearing them, it gets different during pregnancy. Your body is changing and even becoming more sensitive, so heels just become a pain for your feet. The sensitivity will become even worse when you reach either your second or third trimester. Hopefully by then, you’ll have been accustomed to wearing more comfortable shoes, maybe even flip flops.”

“I told you those heels are off limits.” Kris commented, smirking as he knew he had a hunch as to whether or not heels were good for Jessica or not.

Jessica pouted at him. “But I have to wear them for work.”

“Flats are just as professional.” Kris resolved.

“They don’t look like it.” Jessica frowned, wanting to wear her prized heels.

Donghae only watched the couple with amusement. “Well, the shoes wouldn’t be a problem because you should be taking your maternal leave soon, Jessica. But trust me, you will want to change your choice of shoes when the time comes.”

Jessica’s lips settled into a straight line and her shoulders dropped. Guess she won’t be wearing her heels as often anymore. On the bright side, she wouldn’t have to doze off sleeping at work and not get anything done.

“Let’s start the scan, shall we?” Doctor Lee smiled before adjusting Jessica’s chair. “We’ll be checking to see how the baby is developing and I’ll print out the scan when we find your little one.” He returned to twiddling on his computer machine. “If you could please roll up your shirt, Jessica and then we’ll get started.”

Being used to the scanning protocol, Jessica rolled up her shirt but not high enough to show anything else. Kris only frowned and reached forward to pull her shirt lower, not liking how much she was revealing. He neatly tugged it down until the end of her ribcage and even folded the hem of the shirt to ensure that the shirt will stay there and only there.

“I’ll be placing the jelly on.” Donghae grabbed a nearby bottle and squirted a small amount on Jessica tummy before rubbing it into consistency.

Kris only kept his eyes sharply on the doctor’s hand. He still has trust issues with the obstetrician and clearly, he was absolutely detesting the fact that Jessica was assigned to a male doctor. Scooting closer towards his wife, Kris was territorial as he straightforwardly glared at Donghae as he neatly entwined Jessica’s fingers with his.

Once Donghae professionally avoided the death glower from Kris, he switched off the light to the room and left only the monitor screen of the ultrasound to lighten up. With the lights turned off, it made it easier to see the full picture of the screen. Beginning to roam the device on Jessica’s tummy, Donghae started to switch his eyesight from Jessica’s stomach to the screen constantly.

“It might take a while to find the baby, since you’re only at nine weeks.” Donghae slowly moved the scanner around Jessica’s tummy to find little blip.

“Will we at least be able to see something?” Kris asked, knowing that there could be certain times that doctors could not find the offspring.

Donghae was concentrated on doing the ultrasound. “We should be able to see it. If I found the peanut last time, it shouldn’t be too hard to find this time around since it’s bigger.”

Watching the screen in silence, both Kris and Jessica hoped to see baby blip. Donghae was fixated on the screen as well, trying his best to find the baby. He moved his scanner over the parts of Jessica’s stomach that should be where their offspring should be resting and growing. A small short sigh emitted from the doctor as he had trouble finding the peanut.

The married couple saw the difficulty the obstetrician was facing and prepared themselves to be disappointed. It was true, baby blip was still small so there was a possibility of not being able to see him or her.

“Aha!” Donghae suddenly exclaimed and froze in place. “Found the peanut!”

Kris and Jessica’s face perked up and become extremely fixated at the screen. It wasn’t long until their expressions became awkward and confused. They had no idea what they were looking at.

“This is your baby.” Donghae gestured to what looked like a blob of dot specks. “And this is it’s little womb, if you’d like to call it that.” He circled his finger on the screen around the dark circular perimeter of the baby. “Here’s the head.” The obstetrician pointed to the left side of the fetus’ body

Jessica and Kris had their eyes open wide with amazement as they gaped at the screen. They were currently looking at their baby within Jessica’s stomach. It just didn’t seem real. There was a little offspring growing inside her.

“I’ll print out the ultrasound now.” Doctor Lee reverted back to his machine and started to type away.

The couple only remained staring at the frozen ultrasound picture. Any type of food cravings or hunger was forgotten.

“Jess, did you do laundry yet?” Kris asked, as he waltzed into the bathroom to take a shower.

Jessica grumbled, realizing that she forgot to do that. “No…but I’ll do it now.” She yawned, squirming on the bed as she awakened from a nap.

After the checkup, the two went to eat. Kris finally got food in his stomach and Jessica actually bought bananas at the grocery store. Shortly after, Jessica took a nap while Kris ended up finishing up a few files from work that he had brought home.

“What do you want to eat tonight?” Kris asked about dinner, wondering what his wife wanted.

Jessica only laid there with a questioning look. It was weird hearing those words out of Kris’ mouth, considering that she was always the one to ask him that. “…What?” she finally came up with a response, still dumbfounded.

Kris leaned on the doorframe that led to the connected bathroom. “What do you want for dinner? I’ll make it for you.”

The wife’s face brightened up and stared at him in amazement. “Where’s my husband and what did you do to him?” she eyed Kris suspiciously as she sat up slowly.

Jessica had always done the cooking between the two of them. Kris is rarely allowed to cook because of his poor cooking skills. They’ve established long ago that the kitchen belonged to Jessica only. Kris Wu cooking? Oho~

“Nothing happened to him.” Kris gave his cute gummy smile. “I’m just following what I told you before and that was to treat you like a queen.”

“But as far as I’m concerned, we’ve established that your cooking is…under established.” Jessica only remained grinning at him in happiness. “What is my lovely husband up to?” she was catching on quick.

Kris gave her a knowing look, acknowledging her intelligence. “Mom sent me some recipes that are supposed to be really good for your pregnancy, so I want to make it for you.” He slowly trailed his way over to his wife and pinned his forehead to hers.

“So I technically have no choice in what I want to eat?” Jessica blinked amusedly at her husband.

“Technically not.” Kris smiled. “But you won’t have to lift a finger, baby.” He stole a kiss from her lips.

“Are you sure about that? You’re pretty much as bad as Tao in the kitchen at this point.” Jessica knew that ever since they’ve met, Kris had basically stopped cooking for himself.

Kris winced in false pain. “Ouch, you’re hurting your man’s pride and dignity right now.” He brushed their noses together.

“Well, I don’t want my man to burn down my kitchen.” She giggled, seeing Kris pout at her.

Having her back fall back onto the bed gently, Jessica only smiled when Kris hovered over her, conscious of her tummy. “I can’t have my queen upset, so I’ll be sure to stop any major fire that could occur.”

He connected their lips together, craving for more contact with her soft lips. Kris’ wants and needs have been on a high as of late and he’s been desiring some deeply intimate contact with Jessica. He’s been feeling that way for a while, but decided to put it on hold as his wife has been receiving pregnancy fatigue. Now that she’s awakened from a nap, this would be a perfect time to have his hormones toned down.

Feeling her hot skin under his cool fingers, Kris gave a throaty groan of satisfaction as he slid his hands up her slim legs. His hands advanced quickly. Within seconds, he was groping her thighs and even her rear. Hearing Jessica’s gasps and the way her body reacted to his made him even more needy.

Grabbing the hem of her shirt, he was about to lift it over her head until something interrupted them. The doorbell. Both of them froze in place and just blinked at each other.

Kris groaned in agitation, his happy time ruined. Just when he was going to settle his hormonal rages. Why does this always have to happen to him?

The doorbell sounded again and Kris didn’t want to get the door. Not with the sight of his wife under him with her shirt bunched up over her chest, as she was wearing extremely appealing black lacy undergarments. Kris bit onto his lip, as he couldn’t help but eye his wife up and down.

Jessica only her lips, attracting him even further. His gaze darkened and he decided that he was going to ignore the doorbell. He leaned down to capture her lips, but his wife only stuck her index finger onto his plush lips to stop him.

“If you’re not going to answer the door, then I will.” Jessica gave him a look and Kris unwilling rolled off of her with a grunt.

He watched as if wife shimmied her shirt down and pulled on a pair of shorts.

“If it’s family and friends, don’t open it and come back to me.” Kris propped up on his elbows, wanting to finish what they started.

Jessica rolled her eyes playfully. “So much for being the queen.” She made her way out the room.

Kris huffed out a sigh and fell back onto the bed. Who could be here at this time? It’s almost dinnertime.
