Author’s POV:

 

“Are you sure?” Tao was concerned for Jessica.

 

Jessica quietly nodded her head, not able to even crack a smile. “Just go. I’m fine.” Her voice was filled with finality, despite her croaky voice.

 

“If you need anything, this panda is just a call away.” Tao informed, wanting Jessica to feel safe and secure.

 

“Thank you, Tao.” Jessica thanked him for the thousandth time this day, but just couldn’t bring herself to give any source of emotion.

 

Tao only scuttled towards the door slowly, occasionally glancing back at his gloomy looking noona. He gave her a final glance of assurance before actually turning off the lights and leaving.

 

Once the door clicked to a close, Jessica laid down on the bed and shut her tired dried eyes. She knew she wasn’t going to get any source of sleep, but the least she could do was rest her eyes. The day just wasn’t going well, especially for her eyes. The amount of tears overwhelmed her eyes and Jessica didn’t want to open them anymore.

 

Clearing her mind and relaxing her body, Jessica took in calming deep breaths to soothe herself. She delved deep into her inner mind, wanting to just forget about the day’s events even if it was just for a moment. Anything to get rid of the crazy emotions she was feeling.

 

Just then, her phone pinged. The sound interrupted Jessica’s quiet serenity. Jessica chose to ignore it. She already knew someone texted her, but she didn’t want to bother. She needed a tranquil peacefulness after a horrendous day of crying. Readjusting herself on the bed, Jessica relaxed.

 

Her phone sounded again. And again. And again. Frustration corrupted Jessica’s mind before she was forced to blindly search for her phone, which she knew was on the bed. Her hands searched for the phone while she kept her eyes shut.

 

Once she found it, she cracked her eyes open and blinked several times to adjust to the lighting of her phone. Seeing who had texted her, Jessica only tossed her phone away and shut her eyes. The address of the text was from none other than Kris Wu.

 

Purposefully ignoring the text, Jessica turned her back towards her phone. She just didn’t want to deal with Kris at the moment.

 

Her phone rang, as someone, most likely Kris, was calling her. Reaching back, Jessica pressed the side of her phone, ignoring the call on purpose. Curling up, Jessica made herself comfortable under the duvet. She was no longer on Kris’ side of the bed or wearing Kris’ shirts to sleep. She didn’t want anything to do with Kris at the moment. Not when she hasn’t thought everything out yet.

 

Jessica’s phone kept going off every second. From phone calls to texts, Jessica ignored them all and only listened to the ringtone. It wasn’t until she kept receiving continuous texts that she sighed. Kris wasn’t giving up.

 

Finally deciding to grab her phone, Jessica decided to stop letting her phone blow up with messages and calls. She unlocked her phone and went immediately to her messages. A countless amount of texts were sent from Kris. Even as she was mindlessly scrolling through them, Kris was still sending her messages.

 

Most of the texts consisted of, ‘I’m not going to stop messaging you until you reply to me,’ and ‘we need to talk this out.’

 

At this point, Jessica was becoming irritated at the constant messaging. She typed up a short reply. ‘What?’ she quickly sent the text to stop the texts.

Tell me why you’re upset.
You know I hate seeing you sad.
It hurts me.

I know you better than that.
Now tell me so we can fix whatever problem this is.

Jessica sighed and rested her head on her pillow. Things would be so much easier if Kris could see her right now. Kris wouldn’t have to play this painful guessing game. To be honest, having Kris being so clueless made the pain even harder to bear for Jessica. If Kris were there in front of her, Kris would be able to read her within a second. It was just hard for Jessica to express her confusing feelings. Kris always knew how to fix everything by just looking at her. But that isn’t the case, as he was in another country, with another female.

 

Even if Jessica was heartbroken by Kris, she just couldn’t help but have a soft spot for him. Jessica loved him too much. She didn’t want to talk about her pain.

What did you do?

As soon as she sent it, Jessica knew Kris was somewhere in Osaka, sighing in frustration, which of course he did.

Don’t avoid the topic, Jess.
Just tell me what’s wrong.

Tell me about your day.

Jessica was persistent and obviously won the battle when Kris replied.

Just explored around Osaka on foot.
I was thinking a lot about you.

That’s nice.
How are you and Jihae?

To her surprise, Jessica didn’t receive a quick reply back. She swore she felt her heart dissipate in little broken pieces. Of course, Jessica thought. Her little mention of Jihae must’ve affected Kris somehow.

 

Jessica didn’t want to put her phone down. She was silently wishing with all her soul that Kris would reply back any second. She hoped that Kris would be typing up his reply at the moment and that he was still faithful towards her, but when another minute passed by and she didn’t receive another message, Jessica felt dejected. Her phone screen became blank and black. A sad sigh escaped her lips before she proceeded to place her phone down.

 

Bzzt. Her phone buzzed right when her hand hovered right above the duvet.

 

Her phone screen lit up brightly and an unknown surge of relief washed through Jessica’s body. Her conscience was hoping that Kris would get the message about how Jessica was feeling. Does Kris understand why she was feeling so miserable now?

On June 21^st, 2017, I, Wu Yifan, vowed to be faithful and honest to you in every way, to honor the faith and trust you place in me. Never have I broken this vow. Till this very day, my love for you has never wavered one bit.
On our wedding day, do you remember what your vow to me was? You told me that you’d trust and respect me. Jess, I know you trust me enough. It’s just your insecurities that make you falter.
Jihae is simply my secretary who respects me, therefore, I respect her as well. Jihae and I can never be anything more than secretary and boss. That is one hundred percent guaranteed.
Wu Yifan will ALWAYS belong to Jung Sooyeon.
You’re my everything, Jessica. I would never do anything to hurt you.
I love you and only you, Mrs. Jessica Wu.

The long and deep text made Jessica tear up. Her angry bird understands. Her angry bird got the message. And her angry bird just fixed every single little broken piece of her heart in just one text.

 

It didn’t matter about how Jessica felt about Jihae. It wouldn’t matter because Kris was Jessica’s and vice versa. No one could come between them. Now all Jessica wants to do is hug her husband and be in his embrace.

I’m sorry. I was being small-minded and intolerant.

A little grin settled on Jessica’s pouty lips. She could already feel Kris’ amused facial expression through the text. Getting up, she took some time to find her laptop that Tao had hidden under the bed. Switching on the light along the way, Jessica settled herself on the bed before flipping her laptop open.

Your wife is ready to have you call her.

After sending Jessica a text to tell her to get her laptop, Kris quietly got up off his bed. Using his phone as his only source of light, he didn’t want to wake Jihae who was asleep on her bed. Kris guided himself towards the table and grabbed his laptop along with his hotel key card. He slipped on his shoes and silently walked his way towards the door. Trying his best to open the door with the least amount of noise possible, Kris made the door creak a bit. Not bothering to look back, Kris slipped out and shut the door quietly.

 

As soon as the door shut, Jihae opened her eyes. She squinted at the door before sitting upright. Her lips scrunched up as she looked around the room. Jihae wasn’t sleeping at all. For hours and hours, she made herself stay up and pretend to be sleeping. She had noticed that Kris wouldn’t sleep and would just lay there on his phone with an intent stare even if the lights were off.

 

When she heard Kris shuffling around the room, she couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing. Jihae kept her sleeping composure and listened intently until Kris made his way out of the room.

 

Scanning Kris’ side of the room, Jihae saw that he took his laptop. That only seemed like the only thing missing. A sigh was heaved. For a moment, Jihae thought that Kris was going to move out.

 

Turning on the bedside lamp, Jihae decided that she should just wait till Kris comes back. A yawn escaped her lips. She shook her head and patted her eyes. She had to stay awake. When Kris goes to sleep, she’ll go to sleep. Jihae wanted to see how Kris looked when he slept. She wanted to see if he was just as flawless as he is when he’s up. Jihae’s admiration for Kris was growing and growing each time she would see Kris do something and she couldn’t help but always watch him closely.

 

Once Kris headed out of his room, he went down to the lobby and asked if there was a computer room of some sort available in the hotel. He was directed towards the gym area, which had a small private room next door with a few computers for any hotel users. Sitting down on one of the chairs, Kris made himself comfortable and set his laptop down on the table.

 

After receiving a text from Jessica, Kris set up his laptop to video call his wife. Once the connection was established, Jessica’s face popped up onto the screen. Kris’ face immediately brightened.

 

“Hi wife.” Kris grinned heartwarmingly.

 

“Hi husband.” Jessica greeted back, reciprocating his smile. “Where are you?” she crooked her head, wondering why there are computers behind him.

 

“Computer room. Didn’t want to wake others in the hotel room.” Kris cleared his throat, not wanting to mention Jihae at all, knowing how Jessica feels about her.

 

Jessica seemed to get the message and steered away from the topic. “…I miss you.” She pouted her lips.

 

“Don’t pout your lips. You’re teasing me.” Kris reached forward to touch his screen where Jessica’s lips were.

 

When his finger hit the screen, he tried his best to keep a smile on his face. He misses his wife so much. He feels even more nostalgic seeing Jessica on his screen. Seeing his wife smile and her cute expressions, Kris just wanted to be home in the comfort of his wife’s embrace.

 

“God, I miss you so much.”

{Author's Note}: Omg, did you guys hear about the sasaeng incident at Baekhyun's brother's wedding? I woke up to that crazy news this morning. Man, that was crazy. I hope things will become better. These stalkers -_- have no remorse whatsoever. It's sickening. I hope Baekhyun will overcome this. I hope all the members of EXO are all right as well. >_<
