Chanyeol was an absolute doll and Baekhyun certainly couldn’t deny it any longer; he not only opened the door for Baekhyun when they got to his house but he also insisted on carrying his bad and walking both he and Kyungsoo to the door.

And of course by that point Baekhyun was a blushing mess while Kyungsoo had entirely zoned out because the whole situation had gotten too mushy for him. The acts of affection in the car must have sent Chanyeol off on some sort of spree, because he wasn’t going to tone it down one bit.

Kyungsoo had been staring at his own feet when he focused back in on Chanyeol’s voice, “…I guess I’ll see you both on Monday, then.”

Kyungsoo silently praised the lord for finally making them stop.

“I’ll text you later,” Baekhyun smiled, biting his bottom lip shyly as he rocked on his heels. Kyungsoo had the urge to gag.

“Sounds good,” Chanyeol agreed, dipping his head just slightly as he scuffed his feet against the wood deck.

Kyungsoo felt that at this point it was his duty to say the final goodbye and send Chanyeol on his way, but before he was able to interject, Chanyeol had bent down and cupped Baekhyun’s face, laying a kiss upon his lips.

Baekhyun, who had been staring at his feet, was caught completely unaware by Chanyeol’s actions. He made a noise of surprise when their lips met, but he made no move to pull away. The kiss was short, as Chanyeol had intended, but it was enough to send Baekhyun’s stomach into a storm of butterflies.

Chanyeol pulled away slowly, his eyes fluttering open to meet Baekhyun’s, a huge grin on his lips. “Text me.”

Baekhyun nodded, a small smile still on his lips as Chanyeol tripped down the steps and headed to his car.

Kyungsoo snorted and turned to go in the house, finding it hard to believe Baekhyun was still denying his feelings.

There was something about it being the middle of the night that lowered Baekhyun’s protective barriers. Maybe it was the pitch black sky outside that made it seem safe to spill his deepest and darkest secrets, or maybe it was the drowsiness of still being awake that drove you to slur out words you feared to admit. But either way, Baekhyun found the darkening sky to be an internal time bomb that was close to detonation.

Chanyeol had texted the older a few times throughout the evening, and as friendly as the messages were, Baekhyun couldn’t help but feel guilty whenever he read one.

He and Kyungsoo had definitely become distant the past few months, maybe it was school or maybe it was boys, but either way they both seriously needed some ‘best friend’ time.  And Chanyeol’s consistent texting didn’t help; it reminded Baekhyun time and time again that he needed to tell the younger what was going on. Maybe that’s why halfway through their game of Life, Baekhyun blurted out the one thing he had been afraid to admit.

“I really like Chanyeol, Kyungsoo.”

Kyungsoo stopped in the process of moving his black car to look up at Baekhyun. Baekhyun sat rigid, obviously expecting Kyungsoo to act somewhat phased, but much to his dismay, Kyungsoo shrugged and continued with his turn.

Baekhyun gave a weak whine, which urged Kyungsoo to speak.

“It’s not like you made it obvious or anything.”

Baekhyun gave a pathetic whimper and quickly spun for his own turn, “If it was obvious, why did you put so much effort into making me admit it?!”

Kyungsoo looked up again, locking his gaze with his distressed friend.

“I wanted you to admit it because it was painful seeing you deny something I could see with my own eyes.”

Baekhyun made another noise of anguish before dramatically falling back on to his bed with a loud groan.

Kyungsoo took that as a sign of their game being finished and began to collect all the pieces together. By the time he had finished Baekhyun still hadn’t moved from his spot.

Sighing, Kyungsoo moved the box to the floor and crawled over to where Baekhyun was sprawled
