Shy didn't even begin to cover how Chanyeol felt when he drove up Baekhyun's driveway Monday morning.

The burst of confidence he had on Sunday had dissipated as quickly as it had arrived. Which might have had to do with the fact that he and Baekhyun hadn’t clarified what their relationship was yet--and he didn’t want to slip up in front of his friends if there wasn’t anything going on between them.

But nevertheless he pushed his worried thoughts away as Baekhyun approached the car, and instead focused on Baekhyun’s bright red sweatshirt and dark jeans and the oversized cap that he had placed on his head. Chanyeol chuckled at his attire and when Baekhyun caught him staring the shorter just grinned, waving one of his preciously small hands at him.

Baekhyun climbed into the passenger’s seat a short moment later and tossed his bag into the back seat before turning to look at Chanyeol.

"Hi," he chirped cutely, looking exceptionally cheery as he pulled his seatbelt on.

"Hey," Chanyeol smiled, his thumb nervously tapping the steering wheel as Baekhyun pulled the door closed.

"Do we have a test today?" Baekhyun inquired as Chanyeol carefully pulled back out on to the road.

"Uh," Chanyeol thought out loud, while at the same time trying ignore Baekhyun's intense gaze. "I don't think so. Why?"

"You looked nervous so I was just wondering."

“I’m not nervous,” Chanyeol chuckled shakily, concentrating on the road carefully as Baekhyun continued to watch him with his ‘, I so don’t believe you’ stare.

It only took a minute of this staring for Chanyeol’s insecurity to shine bright, “What are you staring at!?”

“You,” Baekhyun answered simply, a goofy grin finding its way on to his face.

“Why?” Chanyeol whined, a pout forming on his chubby lips.

“Because I want to know why you’re so nervous silly,” Baekhyun laughed, turning his head to look at the road. “And you look good today….”

“What?” Chanyeol sounded disbelieving, and he quickly glanced over at Baekhyun, not sure if he had heard correctly.

“I said you look good today,” Baekhyun mumbled again, shrinking in his seat as the tips of his ears turned red.

“You said I looked what?” Chanyeol asked, this time purposely taunting the already embarrassed midget beside him.

“You heard me the last time idiot!”

“I did not~” Chanyeol sang, his car coming to a halt in his usual parking space.

“Stop picking on me,” Baekhyun whined, shoving Chanyeol’s arm as hard as he could before opening the car door and hopping out.

“Yah, that’s mean Baek,” Chanyeol teased as he also stepped out, stealthily wrapping his arm around the smaller’s shoulders after locking the car.

Baekhyun glanced up as he did so, but they both figured it was discreet enough to not pass as anything more than friendship—but they both knew that was a lie. This was a lot more than just friendship.

Baekhyun gently leaned back against the taller’s arm, secretly loving the physical contact as they headed to first period together.

The first half of the day passed with caution in the air, but there was no denying something was there; with the gentle brushing of their hands and how they sat so their thighs were touching—it was obvious if someone would just paid attention. But no one did, so their actions continued to go unnoticed.

That was until lunch rolled around.

Baekhyun was waiting for Chanyeol to finish packing up his supplies as he stood by the door, but rather than be quick about it, the younger seemed to be taking an eternity.

“Chanyeol, do you want me to wait for you or just leave?”

The sound of his voice caught the unaware giant off guard and as he stood, he unintentionally kneed the table, while also managing to slam his left index finger between his desk and Baekhyun’s. He let out a strangled cry before falling back into his seat.

Baekhyun’s eyebrows reached immeasurable heights and he quickly scurried back over to Chanyeol, who was currently in pain.
