Chapter 25

Key’s tears fell while waiting for Taemin’s doctor to come out of the operating room. He keeps on praying that Taemin will be okay.

“Please… Taemin, please be safe.” He looked up. “Anyone up there, if you’re listening, please save Taemin. I know that I’m not been a very good person to deserve asking for this but please. Just this once, I’m asking for you to save Taemin.” He sobbed. “I…” He palmed his wet face. “I love him…”

There he said it. The words he’s been hiding and trying to deny. He knew from the very start that he doesn’t stand a chance against Minho. How could he? The younger has been in love with Minho and Key is far too smart to confess something that will cause him pain in the end. For now, he could just wish that the one he love will be okay. 

“Don’t worry. It’ll be okay” 

A voice startled Key from his reverie. He looked up from his position just to see a guy wearing a nurse uniform smiling at him. Key frowned as he wiped his face clean. “Who are you?” He asked.

“I’m Woohyun.” The guy introduced. “I’m a nurse and I accidentally heard you.” Key glared at him. “Easy there. Take off that glare, it’s not even close to menacing.” He joked, taking a seat beside Key. “I know it is not right to eavesdrop but I can’t help it, who told you to say it so loud?” He tilted his head. “So that patient that Park-seongsangnim is operating, you love him?” He inquired.

Key blinked and looked away. “Why do you want to know?”

Woohyun shrugged. “Just curious.” 

Key narrowed his eyes. “I don’t even know you?” 

Woohyun sighed. “You know, you’re quite stubborn. Fine, I’m Nam Woohyun. Haven’t you heard? It’s easier to tell a stranger your problem since they don’t know anything and they wouldn’t judge you.” He said.

Key was reluctant before finally sighing. “Okay…” He started. “That guy is Lee Taemin and as you heard I am in love with him but right now, I’m afraid he’s in a critical situation.”

Woohyun frowned. “What happened? Why did he end up like that?” 

“The step brother of my friend and my cousin’s boyfriend is –“

Woohyun held up his hand to stop Key from is story. “Wait, wait. Is your friend and your cousin’s boyfriend different?” 

Key raised a brow. “No, they’re the same.” Key answered.

Woohyun blinked as he process te information. “Oh, okay. Continue.”

Key sighed in annoyance. “So as I said, My friend’s step brother is obsessed with my friend. And-“

Woohyun frowned in disbelief. “Wait! Isn’t that ?”

Key face palmed. “I know! Will you just let me continue? Let me remind you that you were the one who wanted to know the story.” He said.

Woohyun chuckled. “Sorry, sorry. Go on.”

Key cleared his throat. “And he barge in our house and threaten us that he will kill my cousin if we won’t hand him his brother. Of course my cousin refused. How could we just give him to that sick bastard, he made my friend’s life miserable. Then, that sick bastard fired his gun which we didn’t know he possessed, and aimed it to my cousin but Taemin…” He closed his eyes remembering the scenario in his head. “…Taemin blocked the bullet and was shot in my cousin’s stead.”

Woohyun stared at Key’s face. “He’s such a brave kid.” He complimented.

Key smiled. “Yeah.”

“Have you confessed to him?” He dared ask.

Key shook his head. “I can’t.”

Woohyun frowned. There is a lot difference between ‘I can’t’ and ‘I won’t’ so he couldn’t help but ask. “Why?”

Key swallowed. “Because, I don’t want to take a risk.”

Woohyun shook his head as a smirk decorated his face. “Nah. You’re just being a coward.”

Key snapped because of that. No one is allowed to call him a coward. Especially not a stranger like this Woohyun guy. “What?!”

“If you’re brave enough, you will take risk.” Woohyun started. 

Key snorted. “You don’t understand. Taemin is in love with someone else.”

“Someone else? Who is that?”

“Choi Minho. The guy who is obsessed with my friend.” Key informed. “That’s why I can’t just confess to him. He is in love with someone else and I can’t just burden him with my feelings when he hasn’t moved on yet.”

Woohyun smiled. “I may not know what is going on or who those people was but if I understand this correctly, Teamin is such a nice kid that he won’t hurt anyone. By the way he kept his feelings for that Minho for so long he is not the type of person that will make things complicated for anyone.” He said. “He is too nice so why don’ you try confessing to him. Take a risk.”

Key stared at Woohyun in wonder. He started thinking if he is right. Maybe he does have a chance with Taemin but he couldn’t be sure of it. Suddenly Woohyun beamed. “Oh! I’m Lee Taemin’s nurse by the way.” He chirped.

Key scowled. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Then I wouldn’t be ranting my pathetic love life to you!”

Woohyun shrugged. “It slipped my mind. Also, Taemin is out of critical situation now. He’s stable but you can’t visit him. We will transfer him later to his private room. So stop worrying now.”

Key sighed in relief. “You’re a weird nurse but thank you. You were right though, it was nice talking to a stranger. It made me feel better.” He said with a smile in which Woohyun returned with a smile.

“Key!” 

The both of them turned to the source of the voice. He smiled when he noticed Jinki and Jonghyun approaching but the third person erased the smile on his face. 
“What are you doing here?” Key growled. He launched on Minho and started slapping and hitting him or whatever he wanted to do with him while Minho blocked it and

Jinki and Jonghyun pulled him away from the taller. 

“Stop it Key!” Jonghyun said, pulling the hysterical Key. 

“No! Let me just hit him!” Key struggled.

“Key it’s alright!” Jinki said.

Key turned to them with a glare while Woohyun watched in wonder. “What do you mean it’s alright? It’s not alright! Taemin is inside that room barely awake and you said it’s alright? Are you out of your mind?!” 

Minho heaved a deep breath. He walked to Key and bowed. “I’m sorry.” He apologized. “I’m sorry Key.”

Key turned to the taller. “Sorry? You think you’re sorry will erase all the things you did? You think sorry is enough?” He said.

Minho straightened and looked at Key. “I know sorry is not enough but Key, forgive me. I regret everything I’ve done. I know I can’t turn back the time but I can make things right. I will apologize to Taemin but I’m really sorry.” Minho sobbed. “I’m sorry Key.”

Key heaved a shaky breath and cried either. He closed his eyes but soon opened them to look at Minho. “You know what? I should be angry with you for all the things you’ve done to all of us. For the pain you caused to Jinki-hyung, for the physical pain you inflicted for my cousin and for the heartache you caused to Taemin. But then again, I don’t have the rights. I don’t even have any idea on what is going on until recently.” He said. Minho sobbed. “Just promise me… Promise me… Us… that you will not do this kinds of things again.” Minho nodded. “And please throw away that gun. It’s dangerous.”

Minho smiled tearfully. “I’m sorry and I promise.”

Key smiled and punched Minho weakly in the face.

Woohyun watched on the sidelines as the four friends reunited. He doesn’t understand what is going on but he is sure that everything will be better now.

“Key, who is that guy you were talking to a while ago?” Jinki asked. 

The four of them were situated in the cafeteria having a break from everything while waiting for the doctor to give them the green light to visit Taemin. 

“Him?” Key asked as he sipped his coffee. “He is Taemin’s nurse, Nam Woohyun.”

Jinki nodded. “He’s handsome.” He commented.

Jonghyun frowned. “Not as handsome as me though.”

Minho snorted. “Nice joke.”

Jonghyun glared at the younger. “Yah!”

Jinki rolled his eyes. “Anyway, have you made up your mind?”

Minho and Jonghyun stopped bickering and became all ears.

“What do you mean hyung?” Minho asked.

Jinki and Key looked at Minho. “Oh, you still don’t know aboutKey and Taemin right? Well, Key have feelings for Taemin.”

Minho turned to Key for confirmation and was amused by the redness of the diva’s face. “Oh?” Then he smiled. “Well, I didn’t think about that but you two would look good together. You should confess.” 

Jinki sighed. “But he is afraid.”

Minho frowned at Key. “Afraid? I didn’t know that Kim Kibum possessed such feeling. Why though?”

Key glared at the taller. “I’m-“ He wasn’t able to finish his words when Jonghyun spoke up. 

“He’s afraid that things between them would turn awkward.” Jonghyun said, casually sipping his iced coffee.

“Things like what?” 

Key sighed. “Like-“

“Things like their friendship.” Jinki answered instead and Minho turned to Key in amusement. He could see a vein about to pop on the diva’s forehead. For as long as he knew Key, he was never fond of people who always interrupt him whenever he tried to talk. 

“Don’t worry Key as far as I know about Taemin, h is not the kind of person that would harbor any awkward feelings for someone. He’s too nice like that.”

“It’s not-“

“It’s not just about that.” Jonghyun said. “Key is not used to confessing. He is overly confident that he couldn’t stomach confessing first. He’s afraid of being rejected.”

In that instant, Minho started laughing. Key just bursts.

“You stupid couple! Will the both of you let me talk?! This is my love life not yours!” Key yelled at Jinki and Jonghyun who cowered in Key’s temper.

“Sorry…” Jinki and Jonghyun apologized.

Key sighed. “Anyway, back to the topic. It’s not about the awkwardness.” He stared directly at Minho. “He is in love with you. He is still in love with you Minho. He is still too deep in his feelings for you and I can’t burden him with my own feelings.” He admitted.

Minho smiled. “Don’t worry Key. Why don’t you just try?” He asked. “A genuine feeling will never be burden to someone. Okay?” 

Key stared at Minho. “You’re really different.” Then he smiled. “I like this you better now.”

Minho smirked and sipped his coffee. “Don’t go falling in love with me now. I don’t want to go through a process of rejecting you.” He said.

Key raised a brow. “What do you think of me? Stupid?”

They all laugh.

After a month, Taemin was finally discharged at the hospital, they all decided to stay at the Lee residence so that they could take better care of Taemin because the younger’s parents were still out of the country. Everything is okay now and going smoothly except for one thing, causing the three of them namely; Kim Jonghyun, Lee Jinki and Choi Minho- spying on Key and Taemin as the older is feeding the younger.

“Do you think Key will ever find the resolve to confess.” Jinki asked.

“I don’t think so.” Jonghyun answered. “You know Key, once he decided something he will stick to it.”

“Then are you guys going to let them stay as friends?” Minho asked.

“What do you mean by ‘you guys’? Of course you’re helping us.” Jinki said, narrowing his eyes on his step brother.

“And how?” Minho asked.

Jinki smiled. “I have a plan.” He beamed. 

Minho and Jonghyun just exchanged glances.

A/n: Here is another chapter. Basically, the next chapters would focus on TaeKey, after all they deserve some love since they became a very supportive friends for the JongYu couple. =D

Sorry for taking a long time to update. I just got stuck with my life and my phone committed a suicide so I have to buy a new one.
