Tiffany's POV

 

I clenched my fists the more I saw Yuri's cousin, Suzy or whatever her name was, wrapping her arm around Taeyeon, and to make it worse, Taeyeon was smiling happily back at her. I stormed over to Yuri as she was busy reading through the plans for the party since she was the head organizer for it as she wanted Taeyeon to have a great birthday party. She looked up at me as she sensed my presence.

 

"Yuri! What is she doing her?!" I asked.

 

"Well.....Taeyeon's mom invited her over, she has always loved Suzy and treated her like her real daughter...." she said as I didn't know why but my heart became heavy.

 

"Oh.... I see...." I said, unconsciously softer than before.

 

Yuri checked her watch as her jaw dropped.

 

"Oh no! I have to start the party, NOW!" she said as she ran to the middle of the living room.

 

"Good morning everyone, as you all know, I am Kwon Yuri and I am Taeyeon's bestfriend! I am the head organizer for the party so I will be the game master for the games later on so....... let the party begin!" she said as the cheers from the guests broke the silence.

 

I quieten down as the guests waited for the organizer's further instructions.

 

"First up, we'll be asked a question regarding our birthday girl,  the faster player gets points.  Here are the rules,  players are not allowed to ask the birthday girl to help them because it would be unfair. The points will then be collected and tallied at the end of the party and the person with the highest points will stand a chance to win attractive prizes! Are you ready to play the game?" she explained.

 

"Yes!" everyone in the room yelled in unison.

 

"Okay, we'll need to be paired up for this game, now please pair up with someone!" she said as everybody went to get their partners.

 

I walked over to Taeyeon but realized she was not playing in the game. I stopped and sighed, I turned around, only to find that everyone was already finding for a partner. Sooyoung with Sunny, Yoona with Seohyun. The only ones that were left were Jessica, Suzy or whatever her name was and Hyoyeon. I smiled as I walked over to the little girl.

 

"Hyoyeon, would you like to be my-" I got cut off when someone grabbed the little girl away from me.

 

I looked up and realized it was Suzy.

 

"C'mon Hyoyeon, you'll be my partner!" she said as she pulled the little girl to the game master.

 

However, I reached out and grabbed Hyoyeon's other hand and stopped them.

 

"Hey! How rude! How can you just pull Hyoyeon away like that when I was asking her to be my partner?!" I asked.

 

"Too bad, she's mine now!" she said and stuck out her tongue at me.

 

"What?! She never even agreed to be your partner, you just grabbed her by the hand and forced her to be your partner!" I said as the whole room of guests turned their attention to us.

 

"Girls! Break it up!" Yuri said but none of us listened.

 

"I don't care! Hyoyeon's mine!" she shouted.

 

"No, she's not!" I shouted back.

 

Suddenly, I felt someone walking beside us as she grabbed the little girl out of our grasps.

 

"Oh for heaven's sake, I'll partner Hyoyeon and you two partner together, okay? " Jessica said as Suzy and I looked at each other.

 

"What?!" We exclaimed in unison.

 

The game master ignored us as she continued with the game and said, "Alright, everyone has been partnered up! Let the game begin! First up will be SooSun!" she said as both of us groaned.

 

We knew we couldn't change partners already. All we did was glare at each other, not even blinking. We were having an intense stare down, none of us going to blink anytime soon. Sooyoung and Sunny come forth as everyone else made some room or them.

 

"Okay, this question is worth 2 points, the easiest level in this game. Are you two ready?" Yuri said as both of them nodded.

 

"The question is, what is Taeyeon's favourite colour?" she read from the papers in her hand as Sooyoung shot her hand up in the air instantly.

 

"Blue!" she shouted as Yuri smiled.

 

"Correct! 2 points for Sooyoung!" she announced as Sooyoung smiled proudly.

 

"What? That's such an easy question! Haha! I'm so gonna win that Suzy girl!" I thought as I smirked.

 

"The next question is, when is Taeyeon's birthday?" Yuri asked as both of them raised their hands but Yuri picked Sunny to answer the question.

 

"9th of March?" she said unsurely.

 

"Correct! 2  points for Sunny!" Yuri said as she smiled.

 

"Great job bunny!" Sooyoung praised her girlfriend as Sunny smiled at her.

 

"Okay, last question for you two, How many family members does Taeyeon have?" she asked as Sooyoung shot her hand up before Sunny did.

 

However, when Yuri picked Sooyoung to answer the question, she simply shook her head and let Sunny answer the question. Sunny smiled at her lover and asnwered, "3, omma, appa and Hyoyeon!"

 

Yuri smiled and annouced, "That is...correct! Congrats, Sunny! You may proceed to the next round later on."

 

Sunny smiled and hugged Sooyoung before she whispered, "Thanks so much, honey!"

 

Sooyoung hugged her lover back, "Anything for you, Bunny!"

 

I looked at them from afar, I couldn't help but smile.

 

"Aw~ They're so cute and sweet together~~ " I thought as I was happy for Sunny that she has found someone who treats her so well.

 

"Okay, which pair would like to go next? This round would be harder than before," Yuri annouced as Hyoyeon put her little right hand up.

 

"Okay, come on up!" Yuri said as she shyly came forward with the annoyed Ice-princess behind her.

 

"As always, Ice- princess.... " I thought as I looked at the rather bored Jessica.

 

However, when Yuri smiled at her and started reading the question out, I couldn't help but notice her face turning into a faint shade of pink. My eyes widen as I continued to look at my bestfriend, surprised at such an unusual sight.

 

"Is....Is she...blushing?!?!" I thought as I giggled.

 

I couldn't believe my eyes, all these years of seeing her cold and annoyed 'princess' side of her, I never thought I would ever see her blush in a million years! Just then, I also noticed that Yuri's face was somewhat more red than before.

 

"Aw~ YulSic is so cute~ They're actually blushing!!! Gah~" I thought as I smiled widely.

 

Ofcourse, Hyoyeon won this round easily since she has lived with the birthday girl all her life, she would know her more than Jessica. Hyoyeon qualified for the next round as Yuri asked the next pair to go up. Without hesitation, YoonHyun came forward personally as Yuri started asking them questions.

Taeyeon's POV

 

I know I'm supposed to be enjoying this party and all that, but the party has just started 20 minutes ago and my mind was already on something else, or should I say someone else. I turned to look at her again, I had already lost track of how many times I have looked at her in 20 minutes.

 

Throughout this 20 minutes, I kept seeing her smile as she looked at the other couples in the room. I don't why but I couldn't control myself and I smiled whenever I saw her smile. It was so sweet and pure. It was so sincere and I just loved the way her eyes disappear into cresent moons whenever she smiled, as if like magic. I had missed them so much, nowadays, I don't see her that often so I rarely get to see those beautiful smiles anymore.

 

Then, I started to think about how she has been treating me lately, my smile started to fade. She has forgotten about me because of that jerk. Rage took over me as I felt pain invading my heart. The pain of loneliness and regret.

 

Then, I realized it was her turn to play as she stepped forward and she glared at Suzy. Then, I remembered my mission for today, to make her learn her mistake. Sunny was right, I had suffered so much for her, this was her turn to taste her own medicine.

 

Then, she turned to look at me as our eyes met for a second before I looked away quickly. I didn't want to, but I had to. At the corner of my eye, I saw her sighing as she pouted cutely and turned back to face the game master.

 

"I'm sorry, Fany.... But...You've hurt me so much... I have to make you as jealous as possible today... Let the game begin!" I said as I smirked, it's pay back time!

Tiffany's POV

 

"I guess she's still angry at me... I need to apologize to her later when we are alone... I'm so sorry, Taetae..." I thought as I sighed and waited for Yuri to start the game.

 

"So girls, you ready?" she asked as we nodded.

 

"I'm not gonna lose to you, Suzy! I'm gonna show you how close I am with Taetae!" I thought.

 

"Okay, the questions that will be asked are the most difficult questions, the highest level, you can score up to 6 points! The question is, what is Taeyeon's talent?" Yuri asked as I started to think of the answer.

 

Before I knew it, Suzy already shot up her hand into the air and shouted, "Singing!"

 

Yuri smiled and announced, "That is...correct! 6 points to Suzy!"

 

My jaw dropped.

 

"Wow! She's fast.... Wait...since when did Taetae sing? Gr.. I need to get the next question right!" I thought as I pouted.

 

"Great job, Suzy!" a familiar voice shouted as I frowned when I realized it was Taeyeon.

 

"She's cheering for her and not me?! Kim Taeyeon! How dare you!" I thought as I crossed my arms in frustration.

 

"Okay, next question, what is Taeyeon's most popular nick name?" Yuri asked as I raised my hand quickly.

 

"Taengoo!" I shouted but Yuri's smile faded.

 

"I'm sorry, Tiff... But that's not the correct answer..it's close though..it's the second most popular nickname..." she said as I tilted my head.

 

"Wait...How is 'Taengoo' not her most commonly called nick name? All her friends and Hyoyeon calls her that.." I thought as Suzy raised her hands.

 

"This is easy...Byuntaeng!" she answered as my eyes widen, I never heard anybody call Taeyeon using that nickname before.

 

"That is correct! Another 6 points for Suzy!" Yuri annouced as I stared at Suzy, eyes wide.

 

"How does she know all these things that I don't know?!" I thought as Suzy smiled proudly at me.

 

"Last question, Tiff, you have to get this correct or Suzy will proceed to the next round immediately," Yuri said as I nodded.

 

"What is Taeyeon's favourite hobby besides listening to music?" Yuri asked as I raised my hand.

 

"Cooking!" I answered.

 

"Well...that's indeed one of her hobbies but...not her favourite hobby...so sorry Tiff.." Yuri said as I frowned.

 

"What?! Cooking is not her favourite hobby then what is?!" I thought as looked at the smirking Suzy standing beside me.

 

"You have got to be kidding me, this is too simple for a 6 points question... Composing and writing songs ofcourse!" she said.

 

"That is correct! Suzy proceeds to the next round!" Yuri said.

 

"What?! Since when did Taetae ever compose or write songs?!" I thought.

 

I looked at Suzy walking off proudly, not forgetting to stick her tongue out at me before she went over to Taeyeon, sitting on the chair at the back of the room, watching and enjoying her friends playing the game.

 

"Great job, Suzy! You were awesome!" she praised as I pouted.

 

"Thanks unnie! And those questions were too easy.... They should have asked harder questions for 6 points..." she complained.

 

"Why didn't I know any of the answers?! Why does she know so much more about Taetae than me?! I never even knew Taetae wrote and composed songs..." I thought and sighed deeply.

 

All I could do was look at them smiling at each other, laughing away while I sat at the corner alone while Yuri continued the next round with the winners of the first round.

 

"Wait....Tiffany Hwang! Are you j..j.. jealous?!" I thought.

 

Suzy won the game, having a total of over 60 points! How am I supposed to beat that when I still have no points?

 

"Alright, the winner for the first game is Suzy! Congratulations!" Yuri paused and continued, "Now, we'll play Truth or Dare! However, this is a little different from the normal game, we have prepared a doom and fate box, if players pick the truth then they will have to pick a piece of paper from the 'fate' box and read the question out loud to everybody! If the player picks dare, then they will have to pick a piece of paper from the 'doom' box and do the dare without hesitation. Here are the rules, you cannot switch papers as that will be unfair. Okay, that's all! Let's start playing!" Yuri annouced as everyone started cheering and sat on the ground forming a circle with Taeyeon sitting in the middle of it, she gets to pick whose turn it is.

 

Unfortunately, I was forced to sit beside Suzy but luckily Jessica was beside me so it was not as bad. She was very excited to play the game actually, since Yuri decided to join in and sat beside her. She was giggling and flirting with Yuri that I couldn't help but laugh at those love birds.

 

Taeyeon brougt her hand to her chin as she rubbed it, deciding who she should pick first. She stopped when her eyes landed on me and she smirked as she reached her hand out and pointed her index finger at me.

 

"Fany should start! So which do you pick? Truth or dare?" she asked as I bit on my lip.

 

"Well... I think I should just pick truth.. I don't want to do something stupid and regret it for life.." I thought as spoke, "Truth!"

 

Taeyeon handed me the box with the word 'Fate' written on it as I digged my hand into it and randomly picked a piece of paper. I unfolded it as I read it out loud, "What do you dislike about Taeyeon?"

 

Everybody turned their attention to me, waiting for my answer.

 

"Well....nothing," I said simply.

 

"What?! You must have something you dislike about me...." she said as I shook my head.

 

"Not at all... I have never disliked anything about you..." I said.

 

"Okay, now it's Taeyeon's turn to say a truth about her that the player, in this case, Tiff has picked," Yuri said.

 

"What?! That wasn't in the rules!" Taeyeon complained but Yuri shook her haed.

 

"Sorry...it actually is... I just forgot to say that part...oops..." Yuri said shyly as Taeyeon sighed.

 

"So I am supposed to say something I dislike about Fany?" she asked as Yuri simply nodded.

 

"I hate it ......when you're so oblivious to the people around you...their obvious feelings that you never seem to know.." she said, with a hint of hurt in her voice.

 

"What do you mean by that?" I asked as I saw her face darkened.

 

The room became quiet as they stared at me intensely, as if I did something really wrong. I looked back at them, confused.

 

"Let's continue with the game shall we? I pick Yuri next!" she announced as she obviously ignored my question.

 

"Why is she ignoring my question? And why are they staring at me like that? Did I say something wrongly? Why did Taetae say it with that way, like she's hurt? 'I am oblivious to the people around me and their obvious feelings.' What does she mean by that?!" I thought as my mind was filled with so many questions that I had no answers to.

 

After that, I didn't really pay attention to the game as my mind was all on Taeyeon and what she said. Did everybody know something I didn't? All these questions came flashing ascross my mind. I didn't know how to answer them. All I did was stare into space as Taeyeon's words replayed in my mind over and over again.

We played a few more games after Truth or Dare but my heart wasn't in the games. After all the games were over, we set up the things for the buffet and started to eat. All of us spreaded into our little groups, SooSun, YoonHyun, YulSic and TaeHyoSu, all except for me. I stood at the corner of the room, leaning on the wall, still thinking about what Taeyeon said.

 

I looked at Taeyoen and Suzy chatting and laughing together happily, with the cute little Hyoyeon beside them. Suzy went to get some food for them as the two stayed on the couch and continued playing rock paper scissors toegther. I gathered all my courage as I walked closer to the birthday girl.

 

"This is your chance to apologize, Tiffany Hwang...." I thought.

 

Taeyeon's smile faded as soon as I stopped infront of her. Hyoyeon smiled and came over to hug me when she saw me. She obviously didn't know what was going on.

 

"What do you want?" she asked coldly.

 

"If you're here to apologize, then I don't wanna hear it.... But if you're here to wish me happy birthday, then thank you..." she said coldly as my heart ached.

 

"Please Taetae... I'm sorry..I.." I got cut off when someone pushed me aside but soon gained back my balance.

 

"Go away! She doesn't wanna talk to you!" Suzy shouted as I sighed, knowing she was right.

 

"Fine....I'll just wait until you're not so angry and apologize then.." I said as I walked away.

 

"Fany unnie! Come back!" Hyoyeon shouted for me to stay but I didn't, she had no idea what was going on.

 

"I have neglected her all these time....  thinking back at how Taeyeon said it, she was quite upset, so all this time, she was upset  that I didn't spend as much time with her....and I never knew.... that's what she meant by 'oblivious to the people around me and their obvious feelings'...." I thought as my heart started to ache terribly.

 

Regret was the only thing I was feeling now. I regretted the times when she asked me out but I rejected her because I had to go out with Siwon. I regretted the times I came home so late at night that she had already slept way before I came home. I regretted not  spending as much time with Taeyeon as Siwon.

 

"I'm so sorry.... Taetae... I'm so sorry..." I thought as I frowned.

 

"Why haven't I realized how hurt you were before? Why was I so oblivious about your feelings.... I'm sorry... I'm just like this from young... I don't know what people are feeling until you tell me...  I'm so sorry Taetae..." I thought as I looked at the birthday girl, still happily eating with the two.

 

Then, she took the plate of food up, scooped the rice up and put it into Suzy's mouth while she smiled. My heart ached more at the sight of Suzy happily chewing the food and looking into Taeyeon's eyes. It reminded me of the time when I was sick and Taeyeon fed me her delicious porridge. I couldn't deny it anymore. I was indeed, jealous.

 

"Mianhae.....Taetae..." I whispered as a tear escaped my eye without warning.
