Their Kingdom Panorama

/\_____/\

Victoria turned around when Kyuhyun and Mi Sun walked back.

“Why don’t you stay the night?” Mi Sun suggested. “The roads will be muddy and it’ll be worse if you end up getting stuck out there.”

Victoria glanced at Kyuhyun.

“Did you talk to your father?” he asked joining her at the table.

Victoria nodded.

“If you want to go, I’ll try my best to get us out of here,” Kyuhyun told not wanting to make the decision by himself.

Firmly pressing her lips together Victoria half glanced out of the window behind her. It would most likely be inconvenient to have Kyuhyun drive out when it was so late out already. If anyone was at fault for the staying the night, it was probably hers since she’d bothered him to take her to see So Rae’s mother.

“It’s alright with me.” Victoria replied.

An hour later Mi Sun walked toward her carrying a big fluffy towel and pajamas.

“They’re some old ones of mine that I dug out, I’m sure they’ll fit you if you don’t mind wearing them.”

“Oh…no, thanks,” Victoria took them from her.

“Make yourself at home, don’t be shy,” Mi Sun smiled before walking off.

Victoria stared after her awed by her kindness, which was oh so different from So Rae’s coldness. Clutching onto the fluffy towel Victoria found herself smiling.

That night the slight window howled against the windows shaking them slightly. Lying on the soft mattress draped in pink Victoria stared up at the neat wooden ceiling above her. Turning her head to her right she grabbed the blue scarf she had neatly folded up. A wide grin creased her face anxious for Friday.

What kind of reaction would he give her? Would he be surprised? Or would he not like it as she expected? Still, even if he disliked it she would be sure to shove it into his hands and claim that she had worked hard for it.

Setting the scarf aside she began wondering if he’d been bored without her at work. Or if he’d even thought about her at all. Victoria’s eyes inched toward the window when a loud roar of thunder vibrated throughout the sky. Turning the lamp on she watched as lightning struck the sky and half wondered why it was storming so heavily outside.

Deciding that she wasn’t able to fall asleep she got up and walked out of the square bedroom and started down the wooden hallway. The neat wooden planks underneath her feet were so smooth that they almost seemed soft.

“Victoria?” a voice called as her eyes caught onto a family portrait she’d seen earlier.

Turning to her right she noticed a door that had been slightly left open. Slightly pushing it she spotted Kyuhyun sitting on the floor at a small table.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

“You’re not asleep?”

She shook her head.

“Is it because you’re not somewhere you’re not familiar with?”

Shaking her head no Victoria explained, “I can sleep anywhere, it’s just I’m a little anxious.”

“For what?”

Naturally taking a seat across from him she told, “It’s a secret.”

He smiled happily at her, “So many secrets. Don’t you want to tell me at least one?”

Victoria vigorously shook her head, “I want to hear you play the guitar again. How come you never have it with you?”

“Guitar?” he repeated looking a bit happy. “Do you want to learn how to play it?”

“I’m not good with those stuff,” Victoria explained, “I want to hear you play that song again.”

“I’ll teach you,” he offered, “it’ll be fun.”

“I’m not good, really,” Victoria insisted.

“Then what’s something you’re good at?” he asked.

“Mmm…” she thought for a long time, “staying strong.”

She turned to look at the amused expression on his face.

“Why? Does it not count?” she wondered.

He chuckled a bit.

“What?” she asked. “Why are you laughing? Do I look stupid saying that? I knew I shouldn’t have just blabbered anything that came to mind.”

“No, no,” Kyuhyun said.

“Then why are you laughing?” Victoria asked unable to understand his sense of humor.

“It’s cute, that’s all,” he explained.

“I still don’t understand,” she shook her head.

He reached a hand forward and half pushed her head down.

“What are you doing?!” Victoria half shouted pushing his hand away.

“Yea,” he agreed, “you are strong.”

Victoria half frowned at him.

“I’m going,” she told starting to stand up.

“You’re going to leave just like that?” Kyuhyun asked.

Victoria stopped and sat back down.

“I don’t want to leave anyway. I was just playing, Cho Kyuhyun.” She pressed her lips together to form a smile.

“Why don’t you just call me Kyuhyun?”

Victoria paused and hesitated, “It feels weird.”

“How? I can call your name without feeling weird…Victoria,” he purposely extended her name while saying it.

Victoria made a face at him, “I can’t. Lets just leave it at that.”

He reached his hand forward and lightly hit the top of her head.

“Ah! What are you doing?!” she shouted covering her head with her hands.

Kyuhyun just laughed in reply. Victoria grabbed one of his hands and started to playfully pull and push him as their laughter and screams filtered the room.

Kyuhyun walked back into his room with a glass of water and stopped by the door when he saw Victoria leaning over the table with her head on her arms. Setting the glass of water aside he walked toward her and sat down by the side of the table. Tilting his head to the side he leaned forward to get a closer glance at her.

A warm smile spread over his face. Slowly reaching a hand over he pulled her hair aside and lightly ran a finger against the side of her face teasingly, stopping only when she moved. Still asleep, he laughed quietly.

“Sleepy head, Victoria.”

“Have a safe trip back,” Mi Sun told, “I’ll probably come back down to visit in a few days.”

“Thanks for letting us stay the night,” Kyuhyun thanked.

She smiled in reply.

When Victoria boarded the car he turned to her glad to see the smile on her face.

“You seem happy.”

“Of course,” she replied. “I just want to go home and lie down on my bed now.”

He smiled again at her before waving toward Mi Sun.

So Rae slightly glanced up from her seat across from her father. It was absurdly silent that morning. After finishing half her plate she got up and walked to her bedroom. She paused once in the hallway and continued walking before coming to another pause. Backtracking her steps she stopped before Victoria’s bedroom and slowly reached a hand out to the doorknob.

The door led to a dark room that had been left untouched. The blanket had been neatly spread across the bed, the teddy bear sitting in the middle, and the curtains to the window had been pulled shut as if no one had come or left the room at all.

Without a word she turned around closing the door behind her and headed down the large hallway. Once she grabbed her bag she made her way outside to find Donghae already there waiting for her.

“Good morning!” he enthusiastically greeted with a small wave when she entered the car.

“Did you grow up as an orphan?” So Rae questioned when they reached the first red light.

Donghae’s surprised reaction made him swerve his body around to look at her.

“I’m just curious.” she plainly stated.

He smiled wondering if she was getting more into him now, “Yes.”

So Rae tilted her eyes toward the ground, “I see. That’s all I wanted to know.”

“Eh?” Donghae asked before the car behind honked at them.

So Rae disappeared into her office as usual so Donghae busied himself at Victoria’s desk.

“Tsk, tsk skipping work again, are you?” he mumbled.

Leaning forward he placed his chin on his palm and stared out the window.

“Are you going to stop by the office later?” Kyuhyun wondered. “If you are, I can give you a lift there.”

Victoria pondered the thought then said, “No, there probably won’t be anything to do if I go anyway.”

“Alright then, rest up some,” he urged. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Victoria nodded before getting out of the car, “Thanks!”

She waved at him and watched his car pull away before entering the house. It was just the quietness she’d expected though she could make out someone moving back and forth in the kitchen. Victoria decided it would be best to leave the nanny alone since all the woman did was lie to her and glare. Walking up the stairs to her bedroom Victoria found an unbelievably hard urge grow within her to run about the hallway.

Within a nanosecond Victoria had flung her arms out and went back from one end of the hallway to the other end, silent laughter escaping . When tiredness finally started to seep in she made her way toward her bedroom and threw herself atop her bed. Heaving a sigh she turned over to stare at the ceiling. After a moment of silence she grabbed her teddy bear and cuddled it turning onto her side.

The beaming glare of the sunlight coming from the window almost blinded her before she realized that her curtains had been drawn open. Sitting up she glanced around as if she would be able to spot her perpetrator in the room, but really, though, she was alone. Leaving her teddy bear on the bed she walked toward the window and glanced out at the empty front lawn.

“Who came into my room?” she wondered.

Deciding to drop the subject she found the blue scarf and headed toward the bathroom to hand wash it. A sigh-full smile filled with easiness as she hung it to dry in her room propped her lips up. Glancing out the window one more time she grabbed her phone and left the house.

Minutes later she found herself browsing through a gift store and purchased a small box to fit the scarf in. Victoria also went into a cake shop, but debating against buying one or treating him to the drink he’d been begging her for. In the end, she went with treating him to the drink he’d been asking for.

Last but not least, she stopped by a food store and ordered some fried chicken and rice for her “Three Musketeer” friends.

Chapter 96: Omg I'm smiling so widely right now!! I can't believe I actually read this entire story. I remember seeing the number of chapters and thinking that it would take me ages to finish it! I should've known that I would finish it in a couple of days because your stories are just that good. I love that ending hehe. ^^ As for So Rae, I'm glad that she had a (major!!!) change of heart. I hated her during the majority of this story (I know I know, hate is a strong word but hey she deserved it) but at least she changed for the better. Your AN about sending her to jail or killing her off made me giggle! Another wonderful Haetoria story. Whenever I think of this pairing, your stories will always come to mind.

Chapter 75: Donghae...how could you?! :( If I were Victoria, I would have either cried after hearing his words or been super mad and punched him (I swear this story is revealing my violent side haha!). I can feel that with all of this pressure, Victoria is going to break soon. D:

Chapter 69: Ok that's possibly the first time I haven't hated something that came out of Hee Young's mouth haha! Ugh I kinda have the urge to punch So Rae or something...hopefully it will pass. I'm not a violent person I swear

Chapter 40: Have I mentioned that I love your author's notes at the end? They're the best! I would say she went overboard when she was telling Donghae her plan to take Victoria down. Wow she's more vengeful than I thought.
