Second Chance
Love Will Get You Home
"Sss...Seunghyun?"
"What the are you doing here?!
"I..." The woman stuttered. Suddenly, I realized I recognize her features. Is she... Before my thoughts were pieced together, she quickly said, "I'm sorry" and walked away rapidly back to where she came from. It took no less than three seconds for Seunghyun to decide to give chase. He squeezed my hand, reassuringly, then ran to her. Oh, no... Is she Seunghyun's mother? Seunghyun had said before that she went away and never came back. If so, why is she here?
I never had a good impression of her ever since Seunghyun opened up and spoke about her. I do not want to see her. If Seunghyun's father had done any hurt to Seunghyun, it was no more than the pain that the mother had inflicted. Seunghyun had never pinned any hopes on his father; his faith and love is all harbored upon his mother. He loves his mother. He waited for her. He loves her so much he could forget the years of neglection, for a moment of reconcilation through the phone call. He waited until then. I know how his mother made him lose the power to love and to believe in love. It took us so long to get to where we are today. I don't want that to be ruined.
In the midst of gathering all my thoughts, I walked to where they are - to see Seunghyun fiercely gripping onto her too small wrist. He looked exasperated and he beckoned, "What are you doing here?" It was his third time asking and I could tell he was losing his patience. Oh, what am I to do? I stood where I was, just watching. I shouldn't interfere, should I? Finally, she resigned, "I'm here to see your father."
The confusion of Seunghyun's face reflected on mine. Are they back together? Since when? What happened in these lost years?
"Why?" Seunghyun asked. I knew he was speechless. He didn't know what to ask, or where to begin questioning from. Why, exactly, are you here? Are you back with him? Why did you leave? Why didn't you ever call me? My chest tightened, thinking about just how tormented Seunghyun must be now.
"Let go of me, Seunghyun" her voice is weak, yet powerful. Easily, one would recognize her as the mother. Even under Seunghyun's strong gaze and grip, she's superior. "I said let go." I watched as Seunghyun's eyes traveled down to her wrist. He let go, at once, when he realized just how tightly his grip was.
I was half expecting for her to walk away but she looked up at Seunghyun with conflicting emotions of love and sadness. Her eyes brimmed with tears, "How dare you talk to your mother like this?" Seunghyun almost shouted back at her when she swung her hands, and landed her palms on his left cheek. My eyes widened with shock, fear, and anxiety. More and more feelings course through my veins while I rushed forward to Seunghyun, holding him.
He was clearly still in the state of shock. His eyes were bloodshot with anger. He pushed me aside slightly, "What the do you think you are doing?" At that moment, I think I fear Seunghyun. I've never seen him this angry. I've never seen him so lost and confused, and so out of control of what is happening.
Once again, she surprised us by stepping forward, "Choi Seunghyun!" she called out, like a kid that had misbehaved.
"Don't let me see you again," Seunghyun warned. His voice was deprived of all emotions. No, no, no... She almost landed her palms on him again when I held onto her hands,
