Living As His Fiancé

Hello lovelies!!! Its been a long tme!!! I am so sorry! I was seriously frustrated last weekend since I had to travel down to ia for a class at 3:00 AM in the morning since my lecture begins at 9:30 AM!! ARGHHH!!! The sad part is that I don't think I learned anything from that lecture. The only high point of the entire trip was when I went to this Japanese sushi place for lunch! HAHAHA! The food was soooo good!!! :) Anyhoo . . . hope everyone enjoys this chapter! This for all the readers who wanted more Hae-Ri moments hehehehe

Mrs. Lee was quick to flee the premises as soon as she gave the orders to her henchmen. Before she could reach her car door, she was stopped by a familiar face.

“Jiwook? What are you doing here?”

“Stopping you from doing anything stupid.”

“Excuse me?”

“Do you realize what could happen the moment Mr. Lee wakes up?”

“He will kick me out, I know!”

“There will be consequences but if he manages to find out that you got blood on your hands with a stunt like this, he would do anything in his power to strip any wealth you earned from the company and throw you in jail! Do you want to spend the rest of your life rotting in some prison? This is not what we planned to do!”

Mrs. Lee sighed and closed the door to her car and stepped back onto the sidewalk. What could she do? Everything seemed to be falling apart right now. Her only option to prevent you from entering into the Lee family was to try to make you end the engagement since she knew Donghae would never come to do that. He was deeply in love with you.

“What do you suggest I do?” she asked irritated. Jiwook smiled and looked back at the small house.

“You can’t put an end to her family like this,” he replied, “There is a better way.”

Donghae finally arrived at his house around midnight. Everyone decided to leave the campsite since Yunjin was injured and there were no hospitals nearby where she could receive proper treatment. During the ride back home, you made sure to keep your distance from Donghae and Henry so you sat in the back with Ryeowook. Although he is known to be quite oblivious in some cases, Ryeowook couldn’t help but notice a slight tension and awkwardness between you and Donghae. When he asked you multiple times within the car whether the two of you were ok, you simply smiled and changed the topic but he could still see that you were quite upset. Hence, he did what he did best to put a smile on your face: Offer you food which he personally prepared.

You were still annoyed, frustrated and angry with the entire incident with Donghae and Jessica. It hurt you so much to the point where you felt your insides burn with agony and distress. Knowing that it would be too awkward to go back home with Donghae, you decided to go back to your parents place. You made sure to call them before leaving the campsite and luckily, your mother informed you that everyone had left to visit your aunt and uncle in the countryside. Although you were relieved that you would be alone (time alone is what you desperately wanted right now), you couldn’t help but notice a strange tone in her voice. It was almost as if she was rapidly trying to end the phone call which was bizarre since your mother would always try to talk to you forever. Even though you knew it was odd, you decided not to question it since you didn’t feel like talking anyway and you were too upset at that point in time.

Donghae lay flat on his bed and stared at the ceiling. No matter how hard he tried he couldn’t remove the image of you from his head. The desire to be by your side was so intense that he could feel himself breaking down without your presence. He realized how important you were to him. You were the voice of reason that stood by his side and comforted him when things got rough. Without you, everything around him seemed so dark and gloomy: almost like the time right after he lost his mother. The only time when he truly felt happy was when you were with him.

His thoughts were cut short when he heard something scurrying across the floor. Startled, he peeked up from his pillow and noticed Bada eagerly trying to leap onto the bed. He raised his eyebrows as Bada continued to gaze at him with an enthusiastic look in her eyes. She gently tugged on the comforter and turned around to face the door, as if beckoning him to come with her.

Understanding her thoughts, he answered, “She’s not here. Stop looking for her.”

Bada, looking confused, continued walking around in circles and then began to yelp when she realized Donghae wasn’t paying any attention to her.

“Aish, stop that! You really want that devil woman to throw you out?”

Bada cringed back in fear after his sudden uproar. Seeing her trembling, Donghae softened. “Mianhe,” he stated leaning over the bed, “I am really not feeling well right now.” He bent down slowly and gently rubbed the back of her ears. “And you’re not alone, I miss her too.”

You started unpacking your suitcase once you reached your house. The entire evening passed by so quietly. Bao Yu had called you a few times to ask if you were ok, but you didn’t bother to answer. Since she was your best friend, she understood that you needed some time alone to cope with your pain. The wind howled against the glass windows and rain pelted against the sidewalks. The stormy weather augmented your misery. Suddenly, your phone rang.

You groaned. “Why does she keep calling me?” You checked the caller ID and noticed it was Donghae. For a quick second, you felt your heart race but once you thought back to when you caught him and Sica on the boat, the feelings vanished.

“Yah, pick up the phone. I am on my way over,” Donghae stated in the voicemail.

You scoffed and tossed the phone onto the bed. After a few minutes, your phone began to ring multiple times. The call tones continued for about 20 minutes when finally, you couldn’t take it any longer. Frustrated, you picked up on the tenth ring but didn’t bother to greet him or anything.

“Mei Ri – ah?”
