Shanghai, China
“Sunny…”
A voice was calling but her lids were too heavy. More so, she felt light-headed and weak.
“Lee Sunny…”
She heard again. She shook her head as if it will ease the throbbing pain when a woman joined in her table.
A flicker of recognition lit on her face. The latter wore a smirk that made her shiver and speechless. She was afraid suddenly, and this felt like a nightmare.
“Jung Jessica is the reason why Sungmin and I broke up. That’s why I am warning you,” she seethed with loath laced in her voice.
Park Eunji?
Why was she telling her that? If she meant to brainwash her, she will only fail. She knew Jessica and Sungmin’s level of friendship and she won’t doubt that anymore.
But hold on a second…
Is this déjà vu? She remembered talking to her like this before.
“Lee Sungmin is the type of person who can’t completely commit to a relationship. For him, Jung Jessica is the most important girl in this world…He would risk everything for her…”
Headache buzzed in her brain and her heart thudded painfully too. She was struck by her words.
Suddenly, bits of memories flashed in mind. She caught Sungmin talking to the phone but she can’t hear him. The deafening silence was so eerie that it nearly suffocated her.
Sungmin was crossing the street that time, but was mindless of the fast approaching cars. Sunny screamed his name only to realize no sound came out of her. Bloody hell, what happened to her senses? Her eyes began to water.
Save him, Sunny!
Her body automatically moved until she felt like thrown away to the ground—Sungmin lying beside her. He was saying something that she couldn’t perceive. All she can think of is the excruciating pain on her upper body part. She tried to read his lips yet ended up regretting it because the words that came out of his mouth wasn’t her name—but of another person…
…Jessica’s.
A piece of her heart cracked and withered away.
I want to wake up from this nightmare.
Please.
It kills me…
“Lee Sunny…” said a voice so gentle, “wake up.”
Obliging, Sunny opened her eyes slowly. She blinked to adjust her vision because it seemed that she had hibernated.
“Nurse?! Doctor?!” the voice called from the outside. “She had regained consciousness.”
‘Where am I’ was the first question that popped in her mind. The scent of the room and the white walls of her ward answered it. She’s in the hospital. But why?
“Good morning.”
A hand gripped hers lightly. She looked at the person.
It was Lee Sungmin.

His lips curved into a mouthwatering smile, causing her heart to skip a beat. She smiled in return. Sunny was glad to see him in good shape… that her dream was just a dream after all.
“You have been sleeping beauty for almost two weeks now. I was afraid you would never be awake.” Sadness was written in his eyes. “You were in coma—”
People in white suits entered the room and interrupted their conversation. They tended to her, asking how she was feeling. Then, it dawned her that the dream actually happened—the accident was true.
She worriedly glanced at Sungmin.
“Every day and night, I’ve waited for you to wake up. You’re the only person in Shanghai who can tell me about my real identity,” he told her.
“Both of you were involved in a vehicular accident. You were unconscious but Mr. Lee woke up first,” one of the doctors explained. “The police investigation group came to ask him some questions but he can’t answer. He barely knew anything about himself.”
Her head began to spin. What in the world…
