Chapter 39: Under the spotlight

[From Tiffany: We need to talk about the news today. See you during dinner at my house.]

 

Message received. Loud and clear.

 

[From Yul: Okay. Please don’t think too much about it. It’s nothing.]

 

Sigh

 

[From Tiffany: Trying not to. Just need some reassurance from you.]

 

            As soon as Yuri put her phone down, she was welcome by the sight of a very upset looking Taecyeon.

“Wtf Yul!” He exclaimed.

“What?” Yuri perplex

“You didn’t tell me that you knew Jessica Jung. THE JESSICA JUNG” Taeyeon flails his hands in the air. As if trying to emphasize his point. “You know that I’ve been trying to get her attention for the past months. And you didn’t tell me this details of yours?”

Yuri frown “Excuse me, I did told you that I actually know Jessica Jung. Remember the scale thingy? And your respond was to laugh straight to my face” Yuri then smug.

“Oh come on! Hook a brother up will ya?” Taecyeon basically pleads.

Shooking her head “Nope. Not going to happen”

“Aww Man, come on”

Yuri laugh, leaving the latter begging on his knees.

“So..?”

“So what?”

“Do you want to tell me what happen Jess?” Jenny leans forward

“Nothing happen Jen, we hung out, had Chinese food for dinner, that’s all. Plus, Brian was there as well.”

“Since when you’ve gone buddy buddy with the Spawn of Satan? I thought you hated her?”

“Hate is a strong word” Jessica paused looking at her manager giving her the smirk “Since she wants to cooperate, I thought why not being civilized towards one another?”

“You’re full of bull I can’t even” Jenny chuckles

Jessica throws pillow at her Manager “Ha ha. What’s my next shoot?”

“Next week, you have interview with Cosmo. And you’re done”

Jessica gives out her genuine smile “Holidays?”

Jenny nodded “Yes. Milady. You kids can have your long holiday aftr this.”

Jessica laugh “You kids? Excuse me. I’m older than you missy”

“Hey, what does Miss Hwang think about today’s headline?”

“Oh ” Jessica mutters under her breath.

“Hey Taeyeon! Hey Taeyeon! Who was with you last night??”

“Is she your new girlfriend?”

“Tell us more about her!”

 

Taeyeon huff in annoyance. She turns to look at the paparazzi. “Guys, come on. Give me some slack will ya? Not everyone I hung out with is my lovers or something. The lady last night was a dear friend of mine. Please back off and stop spreading rumors.”

 

Tiffany stares at the flat screen, watching Rumor Patrol. She sighs in relief. “I’m glad she clears it up” she mutters under her breath.

She took a sip of her coffee, scrolling through her ipad. The wedding bells is just around the corner and she hasn’t yet purchase any suitable dress. “Wonder if Yuri managed to find any?”

 

The sound of Brittany’s voice broke her from her trance.

“I’m sorry. Come again?” Tiffany asks

Brittany chuckles “I said Tiff, are you ready for lunch?”

Tiffany nodded. “Just a sec”

 

            On their way down, at the lobby. Tim, Jane and Brittany were engross in talking about the latest news while Tiffany zone out, still thinking about what will her girlfriend say later on about the rumors. Suddenly, she bumped into Jane’s back whom had stopped abruptly. “Ow, Jane. Why did you stop?”

Jane was looking flabbergasted, followed by her two other friends.

“Je… Jessica Jung”

The Korean American Model smiles sheepishly as she saw Tiffany. She took off her shades and waves a little “Tiffany, just the person I want to see.”

“You’re looking for me?”

Jessica nodded “I tried getting your phone number from Yuri, she refused to give them to me. Afraid that I might spread nonsensical rumors so what she said. Or was it taint you with bad influence or something. Which offends me greatly” Jessica rambles while Tiffany smiles a little. Yuri can be so adorable.

“Is there anything I can do for you Miss Jung?”

Jessica waves her hand “Stop calling me Miss Jung. We’re about the same age. I feel like we can be consider as friends already. Are you free right now?”

“Uh, okay… Jessica. I’m about to head out having lunch with my co-workers” This feels weird Tiffany thought. This Jessica Jung in front of her is very different from the fierce looking Jessica that she always see in front of numerous magazines covers or billboards. This Jessica looks way too friendly.  

“Great! We’ll have lunch together. My treat” Jessica smiles.

On the other hand, Jane, Brittany and Tim follows the weird pairs from behind.

“How the did Tiffany knows Jessica Jung. THE JESSICA JUNG so well?” Tim hisses

Brittany shrugs “Beats me, she never said anything about knowing her personally”

Jane look at the odd pair. “Oh my Fcking God” It finally hits the girl. “Oh My God”

Both Brittany and Tim turns quickly and look at the petite Brunette “What?” both unison ask.

“The Kwon Yuri. THE EFFIN KWON YURI.”

“Who?”

Jane face palm “THE KWON YURI”

“What??”

“These numbskulls, I can’t even… THE KWON YURI. Tiffany’s current girlfriend is THE JESSICA JUNG’S EX” she whispers harshly, not wanting both women in front of them eavesdrops into their conversation.

“Lordy lord….”

“I’m sorry. I need to talk to you in private first.” Jessica gives a small smile “I’m sorry to intrude on you like this”

“It’s okay. No worries. Is there anything I can help you with Jessica?”

“I wanted to explain myself concerning the headlines this morning”

“Okay” Tiffany sighs lightly

“First and foremost, I wanted to apologize since it does look bad. Especially when it comes to you. Did Yuri told you about what had happened yesterday?”
 

Tiffany nodded “She did texted me that she was with you. But I didn’t know that she came home late”

Jessica nodded “She accidently sleep over at my place yesterday”

“Accidently?” Tiffany raise an eyebrow

“It’s nothing what you think it is. We had dinner together, and my friend Brian at my place. TMZ has been going out and about for her, which I’m terribly sorry for. She came to my house to give her piece of mind. But she was stuck, since the paps surrounded my suite for hours. We ended up watching some lame movie and she fell asleep. I didn’t have the heart to woke her up since she look exhausted”

Tiffany nodded. Relief that there was actually a third party in the suite.

“She loves you, I bet you know that right?” Jessica smiles

Tiffany perplex about the sudden clarification from the model “Huh?”

“She works so hard to impress you. She even asked for my help how to woo a lady like you. The fact that she asked from someone that she hate so much shows how much she really likes you”

Tiffany chuckles “She doesn’t hate you”

Jessica arch an eyebrow.

“Okay, maybe a little. But that was like, last time” Tiffany smile.

“I hope you won’t go hard on her if you guys were to have this conversation later” Jessica smiles.

Tiffany took a sip of her drink, before looking straight at the latter in front of her “Why are you doing this?”

“Huh? Sorry?”

“Taking the time to talk to me and explain stuff to me?”

Jessica shrugs “I guess, I owe her that much. Since basically I put her non-existence life under the limelight. This is the least I can do for her”

Tiffany nodded in understanding. “I guess I can understand that part”

“So..”

“So what?” Tiffany look at Jessica who suddenly give a sly smile

“What is up with you and Taeyeon?”

Tiffany’s face scrunches in disgust “No offense, I have no intention of downgrading your preference, but Miss Kim is not my taste and she’s my client.”

Jessica laughs whole heartedly, causes the Trio on the other end of the corner spun their head fast to see whats going on.

“Heyy, don’t be so mean. Taeyeon has a gentle soul. Very well mannered.” Jessica smiles

“Yes, yes I’ m sure that’s how she is. But as of now, she’s being a weird little creep. But, I can see that she is friendly.  And what happened yesterday, she was being helpful. She gave me a ride home since my car broke down at the building”

“You don’t have to explain that to me, I’m not her girlfriend” Jessica chuckles

Tiffany puffed “You’re the one who asked all these questions”

“You’re adorable. No wonder Yuri likes you. Heck even I want to date you.”

“Why wouldn’t you, I’ll dump Yul’s for a hot model anytime”

Both women laughs

“I don’t think I can. Bottom and bottom doesn’t work well together” Tiffany added.

“We can be bestie” Jessica offers “And I’ll help you rage all black on your girlfriend if she do you wrong”

Tiffany grins from ear to ear “I like that”

Yuri punches codes and swipe in card before opening the door. The familiar apartment looks dim.

“Tiffany? I’m here.”

She walks slowly towards the living room and welcomed by a fort made out of pillows and blankets.

“Babe?”

Tiffany was standing next to her ‘fort’ smiling. “Ta da. What do you think? Any good?”

Yuri chuckles and immediately give a light kiss on Tiffany’s cheek. “This is wonderful! Just like what I had when I was a kid”

“I know” Tiffany smiles “Come one, the food is getting colder.

Both women sits under a tarp made out of blanket, it was slightly squeezy but comfy nonetheless.

“I present to you, Tiffa’s Aglio-Olio”

Yuri chuckles “Looks delicious! Thanks babe” Yuri look at her girlfriend intensely. Causing the latter to blush.

“I thought you wanted to talk?” Yuri approach the subject

Tiffany shook her head “No need for that. That’s not important anymore. We can do it later. What matters now, is you are here with me.”

Yuri smile and sits next to her girlfriend, giving her sided hug “I will always be there for you”

Tiffany smile, turning to look at the latter before giving her the sweetest kiss she can muster”

“I really really reallyyy like you” she whispers under her breath.
