Kyuhyun’s POV

I’d just came home from checking up my vocal chords at the hospital and spending an enjoyable afternoon with Krystal, Jaesun, Jessica, and Sulli (the trick is to get photographed with a ton of other idols so no one can figure out who is dating who) and had just started walking down the hallway to the stairs to the second floor when the most unexpected sight hit my eyes…

That was Gongchan and Soori… k-k-k-

Jaesun’s going to come in in two seconds!

“Hey!” I shouted at them.

They immediately parted and stared at me, wide-eyed. Slowly, a blush creeped up Soori’s face.

Before I could say anything more, Jaesun entered behind me and I could sense him freeze.

Damn.

“Okay, let me get this straight” Jaesun said, putting his head in his hand like he had a major headache. Shim Jang patted his back with sympathy.   

“You” Jaesun said accusingly, jabbing his finger at Gongchan, “Want to date this girl?” He then pointed at Soori.

 Gongchan nodded and replied stoutly, “Yes.”

“And you like this… this moron?” Jaesun asked Soori with a pleading face.

But Soori nodded and said seriously, “Yeah, I do.”

We were all silent for about a minute when Jaesun groaned and flopped onto the desk like a struggling fish.

Gongchan and Soori took that for a yes and laughing, headed for the door.

As they exited we could all hear Gongchan say to Soori, “You think I’m a moron?”

“We’ve got to leave soon for Weekly Idol” I reminded them all and ruffled Jaesun’s hair lovingly as I left.

Shim Jang left the room with me and as we walked down the hallway, she sighed.

“What?” I asked her, “You’re always so bright and bubbly. What’s wrong with you lately?”

She shrugged and said, “Put it this way- I’m glad we’re doing solos.”

“What, you don’t like the fact that our members are growing up, dating, doing the things that make us human?” I asked her, feeling slightly defensive. Just because we’re idols doesn’t mean we can’t do things that everyone else our age are doing.

Shim Jang shook her head and replied, “If you, Krystal, Gongchan, Soori, or Jaesun make one mistake… how do you think that would affect Universe? Oh, and you haven’t seen Eun Suk around lately, have you? Do you know where’s she been?”  

I shook my head, “No, where’s she been? I assumed she was practicing.”

“She’s at the park, crying her eyes out, like she’s been for the past week.”

“What?” I stopped walking, “Why? What happened?”

Shim Jang sighed deeply and said, “I didn’t get the full story, but I do know that Myungsoo broke up with her… after she caught him cheating on her with another girl.”

“He broke up with her? After something like that happened?” I repeated, shocked, “What. The. ?”

“Yeah, apparently he was so surprised when she saw him that the first thing he blurted out was that he was breaking up with her”, Shim Jang explained and then said bitterly, “And we’ll see how wonderfully love and relationships support our career.”          

“Is Eun Suk coming for Weekly Idol?” I asked her, worried.

Shim Jang scoffed and said, “I put my money she doesn’t!”

When we were all dressed and had our make-up done, Eun Suk was nowhere to be found.

Chan Hee clucked her tongue and started to swear, when Eun Suk rushed in, looking completely exhausted with red eyes and messy hair.

“Where the HELL were you!?” Chan Hee shouted, but for the first time ever, Eun Suk completely ignored her and just sat down on the chair, looking straight in front of her.

Chan Hee frowned. Does she not know what happened to Eun Suk?

I looked over at Shim Jang, confused, but Shim Jang just put her finger on her lips and shook her head.

A few minutes later, we were ushered to the set.

Soo Ri’s POV

Something was wrong. I knew it as soon as Eun Suk ignored Chan Hee.

That never happened, no matter how pissed they were at each other.

But we all headed out as we were told to, where the MCS, Hyungdon and Rapper Defconn were waiting for us.

We introduced ourselves and then Rapper Defconn said, “Welcome! Universe has been talked about quite a bit on this show, but it’s the very first time we’ve actually had you!”

“We’re honored to be talked about” , Chan Hee said gracefully.

The MCs pointed to the screen and a chart popped up, showing us what we’d been nominated in for weekly nominations where fellow idols vote for each other depending on the category.

“What do you think about us, now that you’ve seen us in person?” JiHyun asked.

“You boys are a lot taller than I expected…” he replied, “Especially your maknae.”

“He’s the strongest, too” JiHyun said lovingly, patting Gongchan’s .

 “How about this?” Hyungdon suddenly said, “Stand in order from strongest to weakest, girls and boys. You can determine the order amongst yourselves.”

The boys already humbly admitted their positions- Gongchan was in the very front, followed by Kyuhyun, JiHyun, and Sky. Jaesun thought Chan Hee and Eun Suk should go in front of him, but the girls both disagreed. “Just because you don’t show your strength doesn’t mean you don’t have any”, Chan Hee argued. It was ironic because as they physically fought over who would go fifth, Jaesun won and proved that he was stronger by putting Chan Hee in fifth place. Eun Suk took seventh, Shim Jang took eighth, I took ninth, and Soori took tenth place.

“But”, Jaesun said confidently, clapping Soori’s shoulder, “she can take on both you MCs.”

“No way” Rapper Defconn said immediately, “She’s tiny. No matter how strong she is…”

“Try her”, I offered, “Arm-wrestle?”

 There was a pause and then Hyungdon called for a table and two chairs to be brought over.

 Blushing, Soori flipped her hair behind her shoulder and got ready.

 Hyungdon presented the, “Ready, set, go!”

 They were at a standstill for ten straight seconds before it slowly started to turn Rapper

 Defconn’s way.

“C’mon, Soori, don’t be so kind. Just down him in one” Kyuhyun said. Soori seemed to hesitate, but suddenly pushed down Rapper Defconn’s hand halfway.

Hyungdon gasped, and though Rapper Defconn made Soori work for it, Soori won in the end.

“Jesus, why are you guys so freaking strong?” Rapper Defconn asked, shaking his hand to get rid of the tension in his hand.

The MCs had us take seats then and went straight into the show.

“Okay, time for a profile check! Shim Jang, we’ll start with you. There are rumors that you starved yourself to get your body, is that true?”

“No way”, Shim Jang said, scandalized, “there’s no way I can survive without having boba tea, strawberries, and cake at least once a week.”

“Then how is it possible to maintain such a slender figure?” Hyungdon asked.

“I drink water a lot and besides, as the main dancer, I get quite a work out every day. But honestly, I do exercise a lot. Pilates, weight training, long-distance running… all of it. I won’t give up my boba tea and cake, but I do pay a price for it” Shim Jang admitted.   
“And it says here that your special talent is acting?”, Rapper Defconn read.

Shim Jang nodded and said, “I took a lot of acting lessons when I was younger. I was in a commercial once, but I only had to say one line.”

“Do you remember the line?” Hyungdon asked.

“Yeah, it was Naega wae? Or why me? And I had to cry in five seconds” Shim Jang remembered, laughing.

“Cry in five seconds? Whoa, is that possible?” Sky asked.

“Have a competition”, Hyungdon suggested, “To see who cries the fastest.”

“Count me out”, Soo Ri said, “My eye make-up…”

“Same!”, Chan Hee said, and both girls stood next to the MCs.

“Okay, ready… go!”            

To everyone’s surprise and certainly to mine, Eun Suk was the first to cry, and tears were pouring down her face, like she’d been holding them in.

Chan Hee and I exchanged a wary glance. Those tears seem like they’re real… not acting… What is going on?

Shim Jang was next, closely followed by our flower boy actor JiHyun.

Shim Jang whispered something into Eun Suk’s ear and Eun Suk took a deep breath and smiled again.

“All right, AN, our supermodel. People have been taking a lot of interest in you since you’re the Korean representative for high-class fashion. And rumor is that… you’re dating L1GHT.”

Oh my goodness. Still?

“You were seen wearing his jacket at the airport, and you’ve been photographed with him alone multiple times.”

“No” I replied, slightly impatient, “Seriously, I could never see L1GHT that way. He’s like my biological brother… would you date your biological brother?”

“Do you love your mother?” Hyungdon suddenly asked me.

“Don’t fall for it!” Soori said to me, hugging me as if to protect me, “They’re trying to make you say “I love you” so they can edit it later to make it look like you love L1GHT oppa”

“Hey, you’re not supposed to tell her!” Hyungdon exclaimed.

Soori shot Hyungdon a look that clearly said I’m going to protect my sister.

I patted her head lovingly. She’s so adorable.

“Then who’s your ideal type?” Rapper Defconn asked me.

I sighed. We’ve avoided this question for so long…

“I don’t have an ideal type” I said straightforwardly.

“Huh!? No one in the entire world?” Hyungdon said.

“Nope” I said stoutly, “No one. Not Won Bin, [Jaesun started to giggle] not Song Joong Ki, [JiHyun smirked and Chan Hee started to laugh] not Jang Geun Suk, [Both MCs were laughing and everyone else was smiling] not Bi Rain, no one.”

By the end of it, everyone was laughing.

I flipped my hair arrogantly before laughing myself and saying, “No, I’m not that arrogant. But seriously, I don’t have an ideal type. I just like whoever happens to not annoy me.”

“Oh, really? Then has L1GHT annoyed you?” Defconn asked.

“Of course. You have no idea how nagging he is. Him and Chan Hee, both of them talk 24-7 whenever we make the slightest mistake on stage”, I answered.

Chan Hee blushed, but Kyuhyun just nodded his head.

“What about when they make mistakes?” Hyungdon asked.

“It’s even worse”, Gongchan answered, “Then they really don’t shut up.”

“And Chan Hee will get upset and make a ton of sarcastic comments. When she’s mad, she gets really sarcastic at everyone”, JiHyun added.

Chan Hee slapped him on the shoulder to shut him up, but Jaesun stepped in and said, “This one time she messed up her lyrics and she was totally angry the whole day. Her brother, Chan Yeol, called her, and said, “Hello? Sister?” And Chan Hee sarcastically shot back, “No, you idiot, I’m your second cousin thrice-removed. Of course I’m your sister!”

Chan Hee turned bright red, but Gongchan and Soori were bursting with laughter in the back.

“Hey, those two have the best reactions” Hyungdon pointed at them, and Gongchan promptly started laughing obnoxiously loud.

The MCs chuckled and said, “Okay, Sky, your profile says your 175 cm?”

“That was when I started as a trainee”, Sky answered, “I’m pretty sure I’m taller.”

Sky took off his shoes and Kyuhyun and I measured him.

“You grew since last week!” I accused, “You’re 182 cm! You were 181 last week.”

“Geez, you kids are tall”, Hyungdon said.

“Here, let me fix that”, JiHyun said, and taking the black marker, crossed out 175 and wrote in obnoxiously big letters: 182 cm.

“Okay, do you guys know Random Dance?” Defconn asked, “We play your songs in no particular order and you’re expected to dance in sync.”

“Yes!” we cried, excited. We’d all listened to our iPods to review our dances in preparation of this.

The very first lines of Mama rang out through the speakers. This was the portion where only Soori was standing up.

“Kneel!” she yelled, “Get on the floor!”

Although she didn’t mean it that way, the language sounded so abusive that the moment I met eyes with Gongchan, we both burst out laughing. Kyuhyun was already on the floor, holding his stomach from laughter.

“What?” Soori asked, confused and blushing, “Its part of the choreography!”

“But you yelled it so abusively”, Hyungdon explained, also laughing.

“Okay, okay, start again”, Jaesun said, protecting his sister from our excessive teasing.

Our song Rising Sun came out, in the second part of the chorus. We ran around like maniacs to get in position, but the set simply wasn’t made for ten people dancing all at once.

I flat-out smacked JiHyun in the uh… privates.

Not only did JiHyun groan, but all the boys on set, including the MC and crew groaned with him.

“Sorry!” I said, flustered, “Sorry. JiHyun oppa-”

Sky was patting JiHyun’s and Gongchan was yelling, “It’s okay, it’s okay. Think of your mommy, think of your mommy.”

“The space is too small” I explained, embarrassed.

“Shin, you alive?” Hyungdon asked and JiHyun nodded.

“Okay, let’s try this again!”

By being cautious of each other’s space, we managed to dance to the dance portions of O, Tonight, Copy & Paste, Mirotic, Eden Within, and Blue without any problems.

“Hey, if you guys are this perfect, we don’t have jobs anymore”, Defconn said.

I smirked and we continued dancing and even started to sing along.

But when they suddenly changed between History and Are You A Good Girl, Jaesun slipped and fell, and he accidentally grabbed Sky and took him down with him.

“That’s more like it!” Defconn said. JiHyun and Eun Suk pulled the boys up.

“Now, you guys started singing when you were playing Random Dance. Do you know what your nickname is?”

We shook our heads, not sure which of the hundreds of nicknames fans had given us.

“Okay, so we searched up 1VS and found the top ten related names. Can you guess them?”

 “Um… well, our biggest achievement was our recent Artist of the Year award… so Artist of the Year?” I guessed.

“Yes, that’s one. Number three.”, Hyungdon said, “Keep going.”

“Hyung’s drama?”, Kyuhyun guessed, “That’s a hit. Under the Peach Tree?”

“Yep, number ten!”

Then, Sky, Shim Jang, and Gongchan started really going at it.

“JYP.”

“SM.”

“YG.”

“Epik High.”

“Korean pop music.”

“Beast.”

“y Idols.”

“Chrome.”

“Epik Love.”
“Heavenly bodies.”

“Okay, wait, wait”, Hyungdon said, “This is starting to sound weird.”

“But you’re right”, Defconn admitted, “Best Bodies in Kpop” is number eight.”

“Best Vocalists” is number six and “Best Dancers” is seven”, Hyungdon read aloud.

“2Ri” is four, “Most Charismatic Idols” is five, and “Ji-Chan” is second”, Defconn read.

“And first is “Purist Musicians. That’s your nickname.”, Hyungdon announced.

“Huh? Purist? What’s that?” Chan Hee asked.

“It means that you guys write your own music, choreograph it, written lyrics, and that you’ve always danced and sang live. And we wanted to ask you- is that true?”

 “Yes!” we all said stoutly.

Hyungdon scoffed and said, “Yeah, right. C’mon… no one can do that.”

“We have!” Jaesun protested, “We might have lost a few fans from singing live when we were sick and sounded terrible, but we’ve always sung live!”

“If I asked you to sing acapella right now, could you?” Rapper Defconn asked.

“Of course” Sky answered, “Just give us a few minutes to warm up our throats.”

We all quickly ran through the humming and the scales and the loosening of shoulders and then we sat gathered in a circle. JiHyun began the snapping.

We felt the energy rise in us, that pure energy and low humming sound, the vibrato within us that warmed the space around us. I could tell the MCs were getting goosebumps as we sang. They clapped loudly for us, along with the cast behind the cameras.

“Finally, we’ve two last games before you leave. First game, spitting gum onto the dartboard!” Hyungdon introduced.

“We’ll split into teams, and what team total is highest wins. But you have to wait ten seconds after the gum hits the board to make sure it doesn’t fall off. ” Rapper Defconn explained.

Team A was Rapper Defconn, JiHyun, Gongchan, Sky, Soori, and Shim Jang.

Team B was Hyungdon, Chan Hee, Eun Suk, Kyuhyun, Jaesun, and me, Soo Ri.  

“Bet you anything the rappers are the best at this”, Shim Jang smirked and winked at Jaesun.

I was completely confused, because I didn’t know anything about how Shim Jang had taught Jaesun how to rap way back during our trainee days- spitting.

But she was right.

Rapper Defconn set a high standard by hitting the 160 right off the bat.

Hyungdon retaliated with a rather pitiful 30.

JiHyun, a rapper in his own right, scored a 140.

Chan Hee, however, destroyed all with a bulls-eye, 200. It fell off after 12 seconds, and everyone on Team B let out a sigh of relief as the 10 second passed.

Gongchan’s initially hit the 160 but slid down to 110.

Eun Suk’s wedged itself onto the 120 with a loud “splat” that made everyone cringe in disgust. Rapper Defconn, impressed by her power, clapped loudly, much to her embarrassment.

Sky then spat as hard as he could, but it ricocheted off and nearly hit Hyungdon, who was standing nearby.

“Sorry!” he said, blushing. One of the female crew members sighed at his “dreamy cuteness”, and Shim Jang bluntly commented, “Aren’t you liking this too much?” , causing much laughter on set.

I went next, pulling my long hair back. My wad of gum initially hit the 50, but slid to the 100 by the end of 10 seconds. I high-fived Chan Hee.

Soori was next and she also scored a respectable 140, earning a hug from me.

Kyuhyun then went, scoring a 200 initially, but to mixed groans of disappointment and pleasure, slid down to 120.

That left Jaesun and Shim Jang. For some reason, I sensed a fierce level of competition between them that wasn’t present in the other matches.

Jaesun took his stance, took a deep breath, squared his aim, and then let it fly. It thunked itself into the 190 and refused to budge. In fact, it took forever to scrape it off. Proud of himself, Jaesun shot Shim Jang a smirk.

Shim Jang didn’t even blink an eye.

She went up to the line, pointed squarely at Jaesun before taking aim. She spun around in place once and then let it flew. At astounding velocity, it flew through the air so quickly no one could follow it and flew right into the 200. It didn’t budge.

Still, since Team B won by 10 points, we got to hit Team A on the forehead.

“Hurry, claim the member you want to hit the most!” Hyungdon shouted, rushing to his fellow MC, Rapper Defconn.

We laughed as Hyungdon didn’t wait for anyone and let loose. The resounding thwack made us cringe and Rapper Defconn yelled, “You just wait til you lose the next game!”

I went super easy on Soori, and though people groaned that it wasn’t any fun, Soori embraced me, happy. For me, that was enough.

To my surprise, Jaesun gleefully gave Shim Jang a loud snap, but his pleasure lasted for about half a second before Shim Jang leapt up and tackled him to the ground.

JiHyun and Chan Hee, our leaders who were supposed to break up fights, laughed and JiHyun egged on Shim Jang. Finally, Chan Hee pulled them apart, but by then both Shim Jang and Jaesun were laughing anyways. Due to this incident, Shim Jang affectionately became known as “the young tigress”.

Eun Suk started to flick Sky gently, but Sky looked up at her and seeing her red-rimmed eyes, said, “Let it all out.”

Eun Suk hesitated and looked as though she was going to take him up on that offer and hit him hard, but instead, she hit him extremely gently and then rearranged his bangs so that any mark would be covered.

I gave Soori a look that said Next couple? Soori smiled at me and secretly held Gongchan’s hand behind their backs.

Chan Hee flicked JiHyun hard, but instead of JiHyun being hurt, Chan Hee shook her hand and said, “Ow, JiHyun, your forehead is freaking hard.”

JiHyun laughed and apologized, but then before Kyuhyun could hit Gongchan, JiHyun said, “Wait!”

“What?” Kyuhyun asked.

“I can’t let my baby get hurt. Hit me instead.”

Gongchan protested, but JiHyun was adamant.

Kyuhyun lifted an eyebrow and said, “I’m not going to go easy.”

And he really didn’t.

“Holy Jesus, you rival Onew” Hyungdon said as we all watched JiHyun roll around in pain, holding his forehead.

“Hyung” Gongchan said apologetically and patted JiHyun’s .

“All right, final game!” Rapper Defconn said, “You guys have never played this before, but it’s one of the most exciting games for fans.”

“What?” Jaesun asked.

“The Kissing Game! You have to pass papers to each other in the time span of 3 minutes using only your lips.

I groaned, “Why do we play such erted games?”

“All right, we had the fans online pick the teams. So, here are the two teams” Hyungdon announced, “Team A: Kyuhyun, Soo Ri, Soori, Gongchan, JiHyun and Team B: Chan Hee, Eun Suk, Sky, Jaesun, Shim Jang.”

, why am I with Kyuhyun again… Wah…

I sighed as I took my place. They started the clock and Kyuhyun picked one up with his lips. I instinctively scooted backwards from him, forgetting momentarily it was just a game. In response, Kyuhyun reached out and held my shoulders as he passed the paper to me. I turned to Soori and with an apologetic look, gave her the paper. She blushed when Gongchan leaned in and took it from her, taking a little longer than was needed. From behind, Jaesun slapped the back of his head, and with a cry of pain, Gongchan dropped the first paper.

Meanwhile, Kyuhyun had given me another piece of paper, and I’d already passed it on. This time, Gongchan moved a little quicker but when he got to JiHyun, he gently placed his hand on JiHyun’s face before they passed the paper to each other. The staff squealed and Shim Jang covered her eyes.

Kyuhyun dropped the next paper and we nearly kissed. I screamed, causing Kyuhyun to mutter, “Jesus Christ, you’d think my lips are lava or something.”

We successfully passed the next one, and Gongchan and JiHyun were so passionate that they ripped the paper in the middle. Luckily, it still counted.

The next paper was also a success, though Soori had some trouble with getting the paper from me. I tell you, it’s the weirdest feeling to feel your closest friend’s lips moving against yours, even if it’s through paper.

I accidently dropped the next one, and time was starting to run out. Soori mumbled something I couldn’t quite catch, and distracted, I turned to say, “What?”

Kyuhyun grabbed my shoulders and turned me towards him before learning in. I almost screamed again, but instead I took the paper from him, feeling his breath through the paper. I cringed, transferring the paper to Soori. She nearly dropped it, but Gongchan saved it, though his lower lip actually touched his bottom lip. Soori blushed, but Gongchan turned to JiHyun was five seconds left.

JiHyun took it expertly, causing Rapper Defconn to wonder aloud how many times JiHyun had kissed a girl in real life.

We’d scored eight papers. With a sigh of relief, I got up from my seat.

Team B started and Chan Hee took one and turned to Eun Suk.

Eun Suk hesitated and then said bluntly, “What if I don’t want to take it?”

We all burst into laughter but Chan Hee dropped the paper from her lips and said, “Hey, no one said you were desirable either!”

Eun Suk’s eyes hardened momentarily and I wondered what she was remembering, but Eun Suk forced herself to laugh and said, “Okay, come on. Time’s ticking.”

She took the next one without commenting and turned to Sky. Sky leaned forward and quickly and quietly took it from her, passing it onto Jaesun, who seemed extremely shy to pass it on to Shim Jang. Shim Jang sighed and pulled Jaesun forward, taking the paper from him.

Chan Hee’s paper slipped the next one and Eun Suk and Chan Hee actually kissed. The whole studio laughed, but Chan Hee jumped from her sheet, scattering the paper everywhere and Eun Suk winced and immediately started wiping their lips.

By the time we’d gather most of the papers, only 30 seconds were remaining. Determined not to be the worst team in the history of Idol Weekly, they became quite eager.  

Finally, they were down to ten seconds. Sky transferred the paper to Jaesun so eagerly, Jaesun’s chair nearly fell over. Jaesun panicked and wrapped his arms around Sky’s neck and Sky instinctively grabbed Jaesun’s hips to keep him from falling.

“Ewww” Soori commented from behind and Kyuhyun covered Shim Jang’s innocent eyes.

Finally, the last paper had been transferred and Universe successfully placed as the worst team in Weekly Idol history with only three sheets of paper in three minutes.

“And that concludes our Weekly Idol with Universe!” Hyungdon announced.

We all bowed humbly and thanked our fans, the staff, and especially the hosts for their welcome.

The producer, who was actually the same person who’d like Chan Hee and JiHyun despite the laughter during their phone CF filming exchanged handshakes with them before we left.

“Whew, that was quite a variety show” I commented as we got into the two vans waiting for us.

“Yeah” JiHyun agreed, “and now it’s time to work on our solo albums. They’re coming out one after the other in a week’s time.”

“Guess we’ll be competing against one another, yeah?” Kyuhyun said, smirking.

“Oh yeah, no mercy. I’m going to win”, Shim Jang said strongly.

Soori smiled quietly and just said, “We’ll see.”

Solo albums are going to be the following chapters. If you would like to dedicate your albums to people like family, presidents, members, friends, mentors, let me know! (: Also if you have stage outfits that you want to wear (some of you already did this, I know) message them to me! If you want specific titles for your albums, let me know. Each of the albums feature three songs with one as your solo debut song. oh, and if you want concept photos to be released beforehead, message me those too! <3 Anyways, there was a request for you guys to do Weekly Idol so I did. For the votings, I referred to your friend requests from your original applications. Haha, it was weird for me to see how much my biases had changed! :O
