Soori had spent another sleepless night, and the dark circles under her eyes showed it.

But when the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, she rushed out just like everyone else, determined to find how well she had scored on last week’s final exam.

Soori had always naturally done well at school, but she studied hard for finals. She had to make up everything she had missed, which ranged from four to five months of work.

She pulled her hood over her face so that she wouldn’t be recognized in this terrible state and battled her way to the front.

To her, her score mattered more than her rank, but there she was: rank one!

The surprised smile had barely made it to her face when she heard someone behind her say snidely, “What, Jung Soori is ranked first, again?! But she doesn’t even come to school… she’s too busy doing her stupid singing stuff….”

“I bet you anything her company bribes the school to make her first… so that if anyone ever interviews her, she can say she got first”, a second student remarked.

“Yeah, that’s such a lie. I’m going to tell my mom I got twenty-ninth, instead of thirtieth”, yet another student remarked.

Soori pulled her hood further down her face as they passed her. She didn’t want to know who it was. Her smile had disappeared. Anger was building inside of her, but she didn’t show it. She remained passive, her face a composed mask.

But as soon as she got home, she flung her fist back, planning to slam it on her door. But just as she brought it down, she felt someone jerk her back.

She looked up, it was her older sister, Krystal of f(x).

Krystal popped her bubble gum and said, “What do you think you’re doing?”

Soori jerked her hand back from Krystal and muttered, “Nothing.”

Krystal eyed her and then heaved a sigh.

“I wasn’t going to tell you, but it seems like you’re in a bad mood, so I’ll let you in on the secret.”

“What secret?”, Soori asked Krystal, still avoiding her gaze.

“Well, for the monthly evaluation, you wrote your own song, dressed up, and performed it acapella, right?”, Krystal said.

Soori nodded. She’d been so tired that day too. Soori just wanted to concentrate on own thing. But the only way that would happen is if she were to get kicked out or picked for a group…

“The President rated you the highest so… you’re in. You’re confirmed as  the last and youngest member of Epik Love!”, Krystal said, smiling.

It took a moment for it sink through Soori’s sleepy head, but then it hit her.

“Oh my god!”, Soori yelled, just as her older sister, Jessica, walked in, “I did it! I’m in!”
