The "Date"

The Little Things [Discontinued Indefinitely]

Erm... hey there! I'm back! (ish) ... :D

(This gif never gets old :P)

I'd reccomend you guys re-read a few chapters back or skim the chapters to get into the story again. But for those who simply ain't got no time for dat, Here's an overall, condensed recap of the events so far as a lot of you have probably forgotten what this story is about. (Which I don't blame you for lol) However, if you remember (AMAZING), then feel free to skip to the chapter :)

RECAP:

> Tiffany moved to America

> Jessica gets a new, mischevious roommate by the name of Choi Sooyoung.

> They don't exactly hit it off and Jessica is easily annoyed by her despite their other dormmates getting along well.

> A heroic act by Sooyoung unconciously brings the two closer together after their "double-date" with Yoonyul.

> Tiffany moves back, shocking not only Jessica, but Sooyoung as well. (much to her disappointment)

> JeTi begin to spend more time together, leaving Sooyoung to contemplate her possible feelings towards the older girl.

> All the while, SooFany begin their (passive-aggressive) rivalry. --> Fany later steals the locket Sooyoung was going to give to Sica and gives it to her instead.

>The school festival comes up when Sooyoung and Hyoyeon end up winning the dance competition. However, when Jessica is left unattended, her phobia of large crowds overwhelms her and heroic Soo comes to the rescue. (Injuring her knee in the process)

> Afterwards, they find a small child, who is noneother than Jiyoung, the younger sister of Goo Hara. Hara claims she knew Sooyoung since they were young.

>Sooyoung is later hospitalized after the injury to her knee became serious and resulted in surgery. During that time, Jessica stayed with her , feeling guilty.

>After Sooyoung is discharged, Jessica took the responsibility of helping her recuperate. (much to her dismay).

>Sooyoung begins to feel jealous at the close relationship between JeTi, to which the Yoonyul duo notice and decide to help her out.  (Success!)

>More SooSicFany drama ensues.

>Sooyoung decides to hang out with Hara to get her mind off things.

>All in the meanwhile, Yuri is hiding something from Yoona which is stopping them from becoming "official"; HyoHyun(HyoSeo) have become official; and Sunyeon are very close chingus :)

>To be continued....

Again I'd reccomend you re-read/skim through past chapters, but I hope this was enough to re-amp your memories lol :)

[Sooyoung's POV]

After I left the dorm, I went towards the bakery to meet up with Hara. It felt a little strange since we still weren't all that close yet, but maybe this is a good chance to catch up.

Soon, the fresh scent of sweet pastries filled my senses and my mouth couldn't help but water.

I entered through the door when a small chime indicated my presence.

"Welcome!" the voice of a middle-aged woman welcomed me and I smiled and bowed politely.

"Is Hara here?" I asked and the woman nodded.

"You must be the Sooyoung that I keep hearing about hm?" she asked and I couldn't help but nod sheepishly as Hara emerged from the back in her casual clothing.

"Mom! Stop saying embarrassing things..." she pouted.

Her mom chuckled and pat her daughter's back. "I was just teasing. You two go have fun."

Hara turned her attention to me. "Shall we go?" she smiled brightly, bounding over to me.

I chuckled and nodded.

"Oh wait you two!" her mom called us back and handed us two paper bags with fresh cinnamon buns in them.

"Here's a little snack for the road!" she smiled and I took the bag.

"Thanks so much!" I thanked her before Hara pulled me away.

"Yeah, thanks mom! Bye!" she waved hastily and pulled me out the door.

"Geez... she is so embarrassing." I heard Hara grumble as we walked side by side.

I shrugged. “She’s nice.”  I couldn't help but dig into the sweet and soft goodness. My eyes glittered, as it was one of the most delicious things I've tasted. I need to take note to bring Sica some later.

"So Sooyoungie~ what do you want to do?" Hara asked, bringing back from my thoughts.

"Uhh... I don't know. I didn't really think of it." I laughed, a little embarrassed.

She locked her arm with mine. "Then, shall we just walk and talk?" she suggested.

I nodded, though a little awkward with her clinginess.

"So... you say that we met each other in elementary school? Erm... I don't mean to sound rude, but I can't really remember... care to refresh my memory?" I began to converse, and maybe get some answers.

She loosened her grip on my arm slightly and slowed her pace. When she didn't respond, I thought I had hurt her feelings and quickly apologized.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to--"

"No it's not that, I was just reminiscing a little." she giggled and continued to grip my arm as we walked to wherever our feet took us.

"In all honesty, we didn't meet directly. You were kind of quiet and kept to yourself most of the time."

I nodded and waited for her to continue.

"I was a little shy myself and only ever said hi now and then. At that point, I was determined to be friends with you. I finally summoned the courage to talk to you and become closer. Unfortunately, I heard you were transferring..." she trailed off sadly.

"Sorry." I looked at her apologetically and she just shook her head, smiling.

"It's fine. I'm just glad that fate allowed us to meet again." she grinned, pulling me closer.

I tried to process what she told me. It made a bit of sense as to why I didn’t really recognize her. I wonder if there was more though... why did she act so close to me?

"OH! Let's go there!" Hara tugged my arm, pulling me towards an arcade nearby.

I just agreed, following her and we entered.

"I'll get some tokens, be right back!" she smiled, finally letting go of my arm.

I nodded and waited, taking a look around. There were a wide variety of games from racing to old school Pacman, to some new shooting ones. I could feel some excitement within me. It's been a long time since I've been to this kind of place. Call it childish, but heck I was still young.

"Okay! Let's go play!" Hara cheered and I cheered with her as we ran off like children getting let out for recess.

"Let's play dance revolution!" she suggested, quickly hopping on.

I laughed and joined her, when I remembered my knee.

She noticed my hesitation and frowned. "Oh right, I forgot. Let's play something else?"

Not wanting to ruin the atmosphere, I grabbed her and shook my head. "It's fine, I'll just take it easy."

She raised her brow, a little unsure. "You sure?"

I nodded and hopped on. "Of course, unless you're afraid to be up against the dance champion." I teased, emphasizing Hyoyeon and I’s new title since the competition.

She then smirked hopping on. "You wish! I'll let you know that I lead my school's dancing team and made it to nationals." she gleamed.

"We'll see." I smirked back and we began.

We started on a slower song on medium difficulty to warm up.

"Ready? DANCE!" the 'DJ' on the game announced and we started moving.

I started slowly, being wary of my slightly crippled knee. I glanced over at Hara to see she was flawless on every move.

I bit my lip, not wanting to lose and tried harder.

We continued like this, and all thoughts of ‘taking it easy' failed and we were sweating hard. We also hadn't noticed the crowd beginning to form around us, as we were both now on hard difficulty and our legs a blur below us.

The crowd cheered and clapped along with the music. Hara smirked at me and threw in some fancy spin with her steps.

Again, letting my ego win, I burst out a popping move I learned from Hyoyeon and the small crowd, mainly consisting of elementary kids, went wild.

The song ended and we both stood panting, waiting for our scores to total up. We waited as they went up and they were so close that we bored our eyes into the screen.

"PLAYER 1 WINS!" The screen announced and I threw my arms into the air and cheered with the crowd that was now starting to disperse.

"Ha! And the dancing champion wins!" I smirked victoriously.

Hara was still trying to catch her breath and just stuck her tongue out at me.

"I went easy on you." she grumbled and I just laughed.

"What next?" I asked, still full of energy.

She looked around and pointed at a zombie shooter game.

"That one!"

I was a little hesitant but went along with it anyway.

We started up the game as our screens showed us walking through an old warehouse.

I raised the gun ready to take on anything.

It was a little quiet when a zombie suddenly shook the screen and I jumped, shooting my gun and flailing wildly.

Hara laughed and shot it off me.

"Scaredy cat." she teased and I just stuck out my tongue at her and continued.

Zombies soon began to swarm in numbers and we shot them rather accurately, but of course I was pretty scared, however what was scarier was that Hara looked as if she was enjoying it thoroughly, grinning as she shot their brains out. I shivered at how into the game she was.

After a while, we finally beat the game, of course Hara coming out on top as the highest scorer, while I just stared pale faced. The graphic content warning was no joke.

"You okay?" she asked, poking my shoulder.

I finally turned, nodding. “Yeah... let’s just not play that again...”

She giggled and pointed towards more games. We went on like this for what seemed like hours. We played simple games such as whack-a-mole and even the old school consoles.

I noticed that it was already getting a bit late. I glanced at my phone, debating whether or not I should text Jessica my whereabouts.

‘She probably doesn’t care right? I’m her roommate... just her roommate.’  I meekly thought and put my phone back in my pocket.

Hara seemed to notice my action.

“Do you have to go back soon?” she asked, sounding a little disappointed.

I smiled and shook my head. “Not really, just checking the time... and I’m getting a bit hungry.” I admitted.

She checked her phone and raised her brows in surprise. “Wow, time sure flew.”

I nodded. “Yeah it did.”

She dug into her pocket and pulled out 4 tokens.

“How about this, let’s race each other and the winner has to buy dinner at a restaurant of their choice.” She grinned, pointing at a racing game.

I smirked at her challenge.

“If there is one thing you should know about me, when it comes to food... I never lose.” I stated confidently.

She smirked as well and crossed her arms.

“We’ll see about that Choi Sooyoung.”

“You’re on Goo Hara.” I replied.

We hopped on and got into the seats. I chose a red and black sports car, while Hara chose a blue and silver one.

The race was about to begin and we revved the engines. Hara and I gave each other a final glance before zooming off down the track.

Some simulator cars were ahead, and I easily weaved through them. Soon, I pulled out ahead. However, Hara soon pulled up just inches behind me and soon beside me.

We were side by side until a split in the track separated us. I was in a tunnel, while she was above.

The first and second standing was swapping back and forth. I bit my lip, there was no way I was losing this... my stomach won’t allow me.

Soon, we met up again and were, side by side. It was then that we were getting close to the finish line.

Hara slammed her car into mine, while I wavered towards the side of the road, but quickly composed myself.

‘Foul play huh?’ I thought, catching up and ramming into the back of her car.

The back wheels swerved and I managed to pull up ahead just slightly.

The finish line was now in sight. We were still close, but I imagined the finish place as a full course meal and buffet.

Unknowingly, drool managed to dribble out my mouth as my eyes were locked on the target. I slammed the gas and with both of us just seconds away we passed the line.

We both stared at the standings...

[Racer 1 (me):  2:30:50]

[Racer 2 (Hara): 2:30:54]

I managed to win by just 4 milliseconds....

“YES!!! FOOD HERE I COME!” I jumped into the air and fist pumped while Hara groaned beside me.

“You got lucky!” Hara accused, pointing her finger at me.

I stuck my tongue out at her. “Too bad~ deal is a deal... now let’s go eat!” I cheered.

She just sighed, shaking her head. “I’m sorry, my precious wallet...”

We left the arcade, the sun was just beginning to set and I turned to Hara who lingered behind me dejectedly.

I had to admit, it was a little cute.

“It’s not that bad... we get to spend more time together right?” I smiled, trying to cheer her up.

It seemed to work, as she instantly brightened up, running close to me and clinging to my arm.

I was a little startled, but quickly recovered.

“You’re right. Where do you want to go Sooyoungie~?” she asked, a lot happier than before.

“Uh...” I looked around; rubbing my chin as I tried to think of a nearby restaurant we could eat at.

“Oh I know! Follow me!” I smiled, walking towards our destination.

--------

Upon arrival, she seemed surprised by my choice.

“You sure you want to eat here?” she asked, probably shocked by the smaller size and simplicity compared to the fancier and bigger places around.

I nodded. “I came here with Sica before and their food is really good!”

I noticed her expression falter slightly but before I could question it, she dragged me inside.

“If that’s what you want... it will be easier on my wallet anyways.” She giggled and I followed.

---------

[General POV]

Meanwhile, Jessica was in the dorm, lying motionless on her bed, taking glances at her phone every two minutes.

“Arrgh!” she suddenly bolted up, snatching her phone from her nightstand.

“What is taking her so long? Enjoying her date?” Jessica bitterly muttered, scrolling over her contacts.

“Wait, why do I even care?” she thought, still staring at her phone.

“Argh! Whatever, I’m just going to bed!” she concluded, roughly ruffling her hair and slamming back down on the bed.

She closed her eyes and tried to sleep. However, thoughts invaded her mind along images of a certain roommate.

She sighed heavily and sat back up, looking at the empty bed across from her, then to the clock.

“It’s getting late... why isn’t she back yet? What if something happened to her?!” she thought, suddenly getting worried.  Memories of the night when they had the run in with the drunks outside the bar attacked her conscious.

“Why hasn’t she just messaged me?”

Biting her lip, and swallowing her pride, she decided to message the girl.

[To: Pabo Shikshin]

Choi Sooyoung! Where are you? Enjoying your date? ]

Reviewing the message, she shook her head, deleting it and starting a new message.

[To: Pabo Shikshin]

YAH! Where are you? Get back quickly so I can sleep! ]

She shook her head yet again and tried for a third time.

[To: Pabo Shikshin]

YAH! Choi Sooyoung! Where are you? There is class tomorrow! Don’t blame me if you’re late! ]

She nodded, finally pressing send before falling back down and covering her face with the blanket. She didn’t want to seem like she was worried, but in fact, it was quite the opposite.

-------- Meanwhile-------

“Thanks for dinner Hara, we may have to have a rematch if it involves free food.” Sooyoung teased and pat her belly while leaving the café with Hara.

Hara giggled and nodded before latching back onto Sooyoung.

‘I don’t mind, as long as I get to spend more time with you.’

“Well, shall I walk you back home?” Sooyoung offered and Hara nodded happily.

----

Upon reaching her home, they stopped outside and faced each other.

“Well that was fun, thanks a lot for inviting me out Hara.” Sooyoung smiled warmly, not noticing the girl was blushing in front of her.

“N-no, I should thank you for your company... it was really nice to catch up again.” Hara smiled back.

“Yeah it was... I guess I’ll see you around.” Sooyoung waved and was about to walk off but was stopped.

“W-wait! Want to come over? It’s already late and a little dangerous to be out alone.” She offered as an excuse for the latter to stay longer.

Sooyoung thought for a moment and was about to reply when there was an abrupt beep on her phone.

She quickly checked it and smiled upon reading the message.

[From: Ice Princess

YAH! Choi Sooyoung! Where are you? There is class tomorrow! Don’t blame me if you’re late! ]

So she does care…’ Sooyoung silently whispered to herself.

She looked back up at Hara who was anxiously awaiting her reply.

“Thanks Hara, but I have to get back.” She replied, feeling a little bad after seeing the dejected look on her face.

“We’ll have to meet up again sometime though! Good night!” Sooyoung waved at the retreating figure.

Hara turned and forced a smile before nodding. “Okay, goodnight… Be careful!”

Sooyoung nodded and lightly jogged off back to the dorm unaware of what she was to face upon returning.
