[Jessica’s POV]

School finally ended and I couldn’t have been more grateful… I don’t know why, but today seemed to drag on forever. Not to mention that I couldn’t get that shikshin giant off my mind. Perhaps I would stop by later.

“Jess!” A voice called, disrupting my thoughts.

I turn to Tiffany. “Hey.” I greet blandly.

She tilts her head to the side. “You okay? You have been acting totally out of it.” She said worriedly.

I lightly smile. “Sorry Tiff, I still kind of feel guilty about what happened to Sooyoung.”

“Ah I see.” She nods and suddenly takes my arm into hers. “Well let’s turn that frown upside-down hm?” she smiles brightly, skipping ahead, still holding me with her iron grip.

I just smirk and go along with it.

As you’d expect we ended up at a shopping mall.

“You sure love shopping don’t you?” I commented as we continued strolling along.

“I do, but that’s not what we’re doing.” She said, keeping focus on her destination.

“Oh? So where are we going?” I asked curiously.

She turned and winked at me. “You’ll see.”

I just simply shrugged and let her drag me along to wherever she was going.

We continued on for a while longer into a part of the mall that I have never really been very often.

“Uh? Where are you taking me?” I had to ask again, a little unsure of her intentions.

“Did you forget already?” she asked.

“Uhm…” I murmured, unsure how to respond.

“We’re almost there, don’t worry about it.” She smiled and took me to a door that read, ‘Authorized Personnel Only’.

“Tiff?” I questioned, but she didn’t answer and only continued walking.

We reached a set of stairs and continued our trek up the many steps.

I was growing weary and had no idea where we were going.

Before I could open my mouth in protest, she turned to me and smiled.

“Here we are!”

She opened the door at the top of the stairs and I was met with a bright light from the sun’s rays and I shielded my eyes as I was met with a light wind.

The roof?

“Do you remember now Jessi?” she asked, taking a few steps forward, facing me.

I looked around and was hit with a flashback.

{Flashback}

We ran up the stairs, in hopes of shaking off the security guard.

Tiffany burst through the door on the top step and we quickly hid around an air vent catching our breaths.

“Tiff! Are you crazy?” I panted and put a hand on my chest.

She giggled and was panting herself.

“I… really… wanted that shirt okay?”

“You didn’t have to play tug of war with that lady!” I argued back.

Moments before this madness, she had gotten in a fight with a middle-aged lady over the last shirt on the rack. Tiffany ended up winning, but lady took a tumble backwards into another rack. The saleswoman mistook the situation and called security, hence the chase.

“You’re really nuts you know that?” I grunted.

“Shh!” Tiffany hushed me and took a peak over the vent.

The door opened and the security looked around.

“Damn, where did those brats go?” we heard him grumble.

He came closer and we quickly hid, covering our mouths and holding our breath.

“I swear they came up here…” he mumbled, just a few feet from our hiding spot.

He grabbed his radio and spoke into it. “I lost em…” he continued talking and walking back to the stairs.

When we were sure he was gone we drew in deep breaths of relief, resting our heads on the metal vent.

“How am I friends with you?” I shook my head.

She just giggled and looked at me.

“Because we’re roomies, and fate brought us together.” She explained as-a-matter-of-factly. “Now, shall we leave a mark of this great victory?”

I looked at her questioningly and she grabbed a loose piece of concrete and began scratching into the metal.

“Never a dull moment with you.” I commented and watch her put a ‘T.H. + J.J. = BFF’s 4Ever’ into a crudely shaped heart.

“You’re so cheesy.” I tease and she sticks her tongue out at me.

“For now on, this will be our special place.” She finished etching and dropped the piece of concrete, slapping her hands together.

“Special place?” I raise my brow.

She nodded.

“Only you and me know about it.” She explained.

“And that security guard.” I added and we both burst out giggling.

 {Flashback End}

I smiled at the faint memory and looked around. It was still the same as it was years ago, just a little more… aged.

“You sure kept me on my toes back then.”  I smirked.

She laughed lightly and nudged me over towards the vent and looked at the side.

‘T.H. + J.J = BFF’s 4ever” I read.

“Wow, it’s still there.” She looked at it closer.

I traced it with my finger and laughed.

“What?” she asked.

“You were really cheesy.” I said.

She hit my arm lightly and stuck out her tongue.

“I meant it Jess… I’m glad we became friends… you were my first friend when I moved here and… you mean a lot to me.” She whispered the last part.

“Me too…” I trailed off when she stood up abruptly and began reaching into her purse.

She paused a moment before handing over a small, wrapped box.

“I want you to have this.” She said.

I looked down at the box and unwrapped it.

Inside, there was a silver chained locket in the shape of a heart, with a golden rose rounding the edge.

“Wow Tiff, it’s beautiful.” I said.

“Open it.” She smiled.

I clicked it open and found a small photo of her and me when we were younger.

“I don’t know what to say Tiff, thanks…” I smiled.

She smiled back. “I’m glad you like it… thanks for being such a great friend to me these past few years... though I probably don’t deserve it.” She faintly said the last part.

I moved forward, throwing my arms around her.

“I’m glad you’re my friend too.” I whispered and pulled away.

 She was staring deeply into my eyes.

“Jess…. There was something I want to tell you.”

“What?” I asked.

“Hey! What are you girls doing up here?!” a voice boomed behind us, causing us both to jump.

“S-sorry! We were just leaving!” I said, grabbing Tiffany and making our way down the stairs.

“That was close!” I panted when we arrived at the entrance of the mall.

“Yeah… just like old times huh?” Tiffany laughed.

“Yeah…” I caught my breath and turned to face Tiffany.

“So, what did you want to tell me?” I asked recalling what we were doing before.

She shook her head. “It was nothing important.”

I nodded. “Okay then.”

I looked at my phone. “Oh, it’s getting a bit late… shall we return home?”

“Sure.” She nodded.

We arrived in front of Tiffany’s place and we turned to each other.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said.

“Yeah, thanks for today, I feel a lot better.” I smiled.

She gave me her signature eye-smile.

“Just doing my job.”

I chuckled and held the locket and slipped it over my head, tucking it into my shirt.

“I appreciate it.” 

She waved me off and I found myself walking down and humming lightly.

Perhaps I should go see how Sooyoung is doing.

I walked in the direction towards the hospital.

Upon arrival, it was quiet, with a few nurses walking around as well as patients.

I walked towards Sooyoung’s room and the door was partially closed, an older girl sitting in front of Sooyoung’s bed. They were talking and I couldn’t help but peak in.

“Geez Soo, you gave me such a scare when I heard you were in here…” the girl sighed.

“Sorry, I was a bit reckless…” Sooyoung frowned.

I couldn’t help but feel a little guilty again.

“So, when am I going to meet her hm?” the girl continued.

‘Her?’ I thought.

Sooyoung tensed up and I saw a light blush on her cheeks.

“I told you that it was nothing!” she defended.

Who are they talking about? I took a look at the girl. I could only see the side of her face, but she really looked familiar… wait a sec. She was that girl from the café!

“Yeah, Yeah… you would only do something like this if she was really special to you.” the girl chuckled.

Sooyoung crossed her arms and began mumbling nonsense. I had to admit it was a rather cute gesture.

“Well, I better head out… have some errands to run. Take care of yourself Sooyoung… you always have a way of worrying me.” She frowned, getting up.

I panicked, and backed away from the door, standing along the wall.

The door opened and the girl emerged, jumping slightly at my presence.

“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t see you there.” She apologized and I returned the gesture.

“No, sorry.”

She stood there for a moment observing me.

“Are you Sooyoung’s friend?” she asked.

I nodded carefully.

She observed me further and smiled.

I raised my brow at her.

“Oh sorry. I’m her older sister, Choi Soojin.” She bowed.

I bowed back. “Jessica Jung.”

“Nice to meet you. I’ve heard quite a bit about you. Please take care of her for me. She’s always doing something reckless…”

I laughed. “I’ll try.”

“Thank you.” she smiled. “I have to go, I think she’s been waiting for you.” she winked, brushing past me.

I blushed and lightly slapped my cheeks and entered the room.

Sooyoung was playing on my ipod I gave her.

“Hey.” I greeted and she put it down and smiled widely.

 “Oh, you came!” she seemed almost excited as a child waiting for their mom to pick them up from school.

“Yeah, bored?” I asked.

She nodded. “It’s so dreadful in here… not to mention that the food is awful!” she complained.

I laughed. “Well, want me to pick you up something?”

She shook her head. “Don’t leave…”

I chuckled and sat on the chair next to her bed. “So, how are you feeling?” I asked.

“I’m fine, doc said that after the surgery I should be fine…” she sighed and looked at her leg.

 “Nervous?” I asked.

She turned to me and nodded embarrassingly.

“Tell you what. After your surgery, I’ll treat you to an all you can eat buffet. Sound good?” I reasoned.

She jolted her head towards me and nodded excitedly.

“Such a kid.” I mumbled.

We continued with small talk and before we knew it, it was already 8pm.

“It’s getting late, shouldn’t you head back soon?” She said.

I shrugged. “Not really.”

“Miss me too much?” she teased.

“As if…” I scoffed.

“Well if you’re staying the night, come lay here.” She said, scooting herself over.

“Ouch.” She grunted, grabbing her leg and I was instantly at her side.

“Pabo! Be careful!” I said worriedly.

She looked at me and smiled warmly.

“W-what?” I said, backing away slightly.

“If I get to see this caring side of you, maybe I should hurt myself more.” She said.

I knocked her head with my fist. “Yah! Don’t you dare!”

She just laughed and made more room.

“Here.” She patted the spot next

“I refuse.” I said sitting back in the chair.

“Why not? It’s not the first time…” she trailed off.

“What if I hit your knee?” I said unconvinced.

“I trust you.” she said seriously.

My heart pounded and I blushed.

“F-Fine then.” I said, awkwardly lying beside her.

She yawns. “Goodnight Sica.”

“N-night.” I say, about to face the other way but she grabs my arm, facing me towards her.

My eyes widen and she snuggles her head closer to me.

This… was going to be a long night.

So sorry for not updating this... I've been so busy getting ready for school and what not... 

However, after listening/watching SNSD's new song/MV , I got this HUGE burst of inspiration. 

So, excuse any mistakes, I haven't had time to really edit it, but I hope you guys like it!
