Chapter 14

The Little Things [Discontinued Indefinitely]

[Sooyoung’s POV]

I panted heavily as sweat drip from my forehead. I stared at my reflection in the mirror. I had been dancing non-stop for the past hour and a half.

“Why don’t you take a break Soo? I admire your enthusiasm, but your overdoing yourself.” Hyoyeon waved me over.

I sighed, trudging my way over to her. My legs felt like they were going to snap any second. I uselessly stretched out my muscles.

“What’s the matter?” She asked throwing me a water bottle.

“I just really want to win this battle.” I half-lied. I did want to win, but that’s not what was on my mind.

She raised her brow. “Come on Sooyoung-ah… I haven’t known you long, but I know enough to tell there is something wrong…”

I couldn’t help but smile. Hyoyeon was silly and playful, but she really cares for others. “Is it that obvious?” I asked tilting my head.

She smiled in response and nodded. “Veery obvious!”

I merely shook my head. “It’s about Sica…” I admitted.

She wasn’t surprised. “I figured that much out, what happened?”

“Nothing gets by you Hyo…” I commented still smirking. “This morning, I asked Sica if she was going to the festival… she refused, so I tried to convince her… but…”

Hyoyeon nodded. “Aren’t you used to her being upset with you?” She teased.

I shook my head. “No, she seemed very bothered by my persistence… more than usual.”

“I’m sure she has her reasons… don’t dwell on it too much. She’ll come around.” Hyoyeon shuffled herself over patting my shoulder.

“Yeah. Thanks Hyo.” I smiled at her. “By the way… why did you make breakfast this morning? Sunny said you seemed to be in a good mood.” I mentioned.

Her face reddened slightly. “Erm… well…” she scratched her head.

There was quiet knock on the door. “Hyoyeon unnie?”

We both looked over to the girl at the door. “Oh! Seohyun-ah!!” Hyoyeon jumped up to greet the girl.

I looked at her with confusion.

“Sorry for interrupting, but I was wondering if you wanted to listen to a piece I’ve been working on…” her voice had a nervous tone.

“Sure!” Hyoyeon didn’t hesitate as she grabbed her things. She turned back to me. “I’ll see you later Sooyoung!” Seohyun bowed before they left just like that.

Well what the heck? She didn’t even tell me…although I have a feeling I know why.’ I giggled to myself.

I decided to gather my things and make my way back to the dorm. I wanted to apologize to Sica and maybe get some explanation.

-------Later--------

I walked down the hallway, passing the nurses office, when someone bumped into me.

“Ow! I’m sorry!” She apologized.

“Yuri?” I questioned. She raised her head. Her face was pale and her eyes slightly weary.

“Sooyoung! What are you doing here?” she questioned brushing off her clothes.

“I was just heading back to the dorm from the dance studio… are you okay?” I asked with a worried tone, studying her features.

She simply grinned. “I’m fine, I think I’m coming down with something… that’s all.”

I nodded. “You should take good care of yourself Yuri… you’re working too hard.”

She nodded. “Thanks Sooyoung, I think I’ll go take a rest.”

She was about to walk off but I stopped her. “Oh, is Sica still at the dorm?”

She turned back around.  “I don’t believe so… she went to visit Tippany at the flower shop.”

“Okay, thanks…are you sure you’re going to be okay?” I couldn’t help but worry for her voice seemed weak.

She giggled lightly. “I appreciate your concern, but I’m fine… I would worry more about Sica.” She winked before turning back towards the dorm.

“Eh?” I thought for a moment. The locket! I needed to look for that. I knew holding onto it was a bad idea. I should have just given it to her. Aigoo.’ I scolded myself quietly while heading to the dorm.

--------Dorm-------

I found Yoona in the kitchen, making food (no surprise there). She seemed zoned out when I passed by, slowly stirring the soup.

I decided to sneak up on her. “Boo~!” I yelled in her ear.

She jumped around smacking my head with her fist. “OUCH!” I screamed out in pain.

She regained herself and bowed various times, apologizing. “Oh! I’m sorry Sooyoung! I didn’t mean to hit you! Aish you shouldn’t sneak up on me like that!”

I rubbed the spot where she made contact. “I didn’t expect you to do THAT!” I whined.

“Your lucky I just hit your head with my fist… the frying pan was my next option!” She exclaimed pointing at the idle pan.

I pouted. “Why are you zoned out like that anyway?” I asked curiously.

“Oh, well it seems that Yul caught the flu, so I’m just making her some soup.” She explained.

“Uh… you mean that soup?” I pointed the pot boiling over on the stove.

She rushed over panicked, taking the pot off immediately. “AISH!” she cried out in frustration.

I backed away slowly, because I was the cause of her stress and I didn’t want to deal with her wrath.

I ran out of sight and back to my room. My head still hurt from the knock on my head, but that must have been karma for sneaking up on her.

My phone began to ring. My heart skipped in hopes that it was Sica… to my dismay it was not.

Reluctantly, I decide to answer it.

“Hello?” I answer plainly.

“Oh! Sooyoung-ah~ you picked up!” the person on the other line excitedly.

“Uh yeah… what do you want?”

“Since it’s a day off, I wanted to meet up with you! It’s been a long time! Pleease…” they said with an aegyo filled voice.

“Aish! You know I hate your aegyo voice!” I angrily yelled.

“Sorry Sorry, but I really want to meet up. I know a great place! I really miss you~!”

“There is a reason it’s been a long time.” I coldly replied.

“Aigoo, wae so mean Sooyoung-ah?”

I sighed. “Fine. When and where?”

-----------Café-----------

[Tiffany’s POV]

Jessica just went to the washroom and I patiently waited for her to return. I tapped the table to the beat of the background music. My phone buzzed and I glanced at the ID.

[Unkown Caller]

I raised my brow in confusion, but decided to ignore it. After a few moments, it beeped again. I grimaced at the ID.

[Unknown Caller]

I ignored it again. When is Jessica coming back? I’m bored… I sighed taking a sip of my tea. It buzzed again.

[Unknown Caller]

“SERIOUSLY?!” I cried out loud. I laughed awkwardly when other customers gave me strange looks.

I was annoyed by the fourth time it rung. “AISH! WHAT?!” I practically screamed into my phone.

“Whoa there honey. No need to shout.” a masculine voice answered.

“Who is this? How did you get my number?” I asked in a frustrated tone.

“I heard you were back in town…it made me upset when you left like that.”

My face paled and my eyes widened. I was at a loss for words.

“I’ll see you around… Miyoung-ie~.” he chuckled.

“W..wait!” I managed to sputter out words, but the line already beeped. I hung up my phone, placing it on the table slowly. I jumped when I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

“You okay Tiff?” the familiar voice asked taking a seat across from me.

“Nothing… was just thinking...” I replied staring at my phone.

Jessica took a bite of her strawberry muffin. “Something wrong?”

I shook my head and faked a smile. There was something I hadn’t told Jessica… the real reason I had returned to America in the first place.

She simply shrugged, looking at her phone. “Oh, shouldn’t we start heading back?”

“Wait!” I stood up abruptly. Jessica seemed startled by my sudden action. “I mean… what’s the rush? He he…” I gulped. In truth, I didn’t want to return there. Not after the conversation I just had.

I could tell Jessica was getting suspicious of me, but she didn’t question it. Thank goodness.

All of a sudden I noticed a familiar figure walking past the window of the café.

“Hey… isn’t that Sooyoung?” I questioned and Jessica immediately turned around to the direction I was looking at.

“Yeah it is… what is she doing here?” Jessica mumbled still staring at the tall girl.

We continued to observe her. When a girl came running up to Sooyoung, hugging her tightly. The other girl was slightly shorter than Sooyoung, and had long wavy hair. Sooyoung seemed a little uncomfortable as the other girl kissed her on the cheek.

“Jessi?” I tried to get attention from the girl in front of me, but she continued to stare at the pair.
