The8

There was no way around it, Minghao was jealous.

. . .

Your eyes were curved prettily into a smile that seemed to give yourself a full body glow as you gracefully adjusted your posture while you met his eyes. But before he could respond, your attention was taken by the male beside you.

Minghao admitted that you took his breath away, but what he wouldn't name was the feeling that swam in his stomach as he watched you laugh at something your best friend had whispered into your ear.

You were supposed to his date to Seokmin's wedding, but of course, your best-friend, and his bane had to be there as well. So now instead of dancing with you like he had been looking forward to all day, you were chatting with Jungkook.

Minghao sighed as he tried to tear his eyes away from your entrancing figure, in his eyes, there was no question that you outshone the bride. As he sulked in the corner he didn't notice how your eyes drifted to him repeatedly as you wondered how much longer Jungkook was going to blubber about his childhood memories with the now married Seokmin.

The curly haired male was interrupted from his moping by a scene that dropped his heart into his stomach and a righteous anger swept through his being. He couldn't believe his eyes, Jungkook was pinching your cheek.

A memory surfaced in his mind.

. . .

Your eyes were flashing with playful anger as you walk slowly, purposefully toward the chuckling male who was still chuckling at your appearance. Your true feelings were masked by the deliberate way you were cornering your boyfriend.

"Take it back," you demanded semi-seriously, keeping your eyes locked on his, "I am not a kid."

Minghao once again evaluated your appearance and decided that he wasn't going to take anything back; you were dressed adorably in a themed hoodie that had ears to match.

Oh you were just too cute for words, "Come on, you have to admit you look a tad child-like don't you? Not that I have anything against it, in fact, you're like a precious little kid."

You looked down briefly at your hamster onesie and admitted that perhaps, your outfit was a little bit out of your age range. But since when were themed onesies out of anyone's age range, you bet that grandmas and pas could pull it off just as well as a five-year-old.

It was beside the point, you could allow the fact that he called you cute. Truthfully, you called him that all the time, behind his back, lest he becomes overwhelmed with the urge to prove his manliness.

But the issue you mainly had was the fact that, "I'm not a 'precious little kid', that would make you a e." You punctuated this statement with a lofty tilt of the chin.

Well, Minghao didn't really have much to say to that. "Aw, don't be like that." But evidently, he said the wrong thing because now you were pouting.

As much as he didn't want to see you upset, you were too cute. And suddenly he was overwhelmed with the urge to pinch your cheeks; subconsciously he had begun to lift his hand to your face. But just as he was about to touch, you held his wrist still and stared at him coldly.

"You are not allowed to pinch my cheeks. Ever."

Seeing the way you were a hairsbreadth away from violently poking his side, a sensation you knew that he hated with a passion, he meekly nodded his head.

. . .

Minghao sighed, a feeling of despondency settling in his chest as he watched you continue to interact with Jungkook. He couldn't help but feel hurt that the other male was allowed to pinch your cheek while he was met with cold refusal.

It wasn't fair. You were his girlfriend.

He didn't want to see you so close to someone else, someone that you had known much longer, and someone who happened to look (according to many female acquaintances) like an angel fallen from the sky.

Yeah, Minghao wasn't having a fun time. But he choked down his irrational annoyance and frustration as he continued to study your interactions with Jungkook. He could overlook your unhappiness when he wanted to pinch your cheeks, but what he couldn't allow was this.

Jungkook had a hand in your hair and ruffled it playfully out of the meticulously done hairdo you had spent an hour and a half to perfect. Minghao watched with equal parts hurt and shock when you only shoved him lightly. He recalled a very different reaction from you when he did the exact same thing.

. . .

The two of you were about to leave for a date. Your outfit was chosen carefully along with your neatly styled hair. Minghao eyed you appreciatively as you made your way across the living room to the doorway where he waited.

"Are you ready?" He asked, reaching for your hand. His signature dorky smile gave you butterflies as you took his hand happily before stepping into your shoes.

You grin eagerly, "Yup. I can't wait to see what you've got planned." Your eyes twinkled with joy as you gazed sweetly at him and Minghao was overcome with the urge to rub the crown of your head with affection.

However, when he did just that, the air turned decisively cold. "Don't do that, please."

You were clearly upset and avoiding his eyes as you voiced your demand. And he obliged, not wanting to see you so unnerved.

. . .

Minghao had thought he had gotten over it, but clearly, the green-headed monster was rearing its head once more. After you had finally left Jungkook and returned to his side, the two of you spent the next hour dancing together on the expansive dance floor. He tried to keep his annoyance to a minimum when your childhood friend asked for a dance, but he couldn't stop the way his jaw tightened as he nodded reluctantly.

He knew there was no way that you were cheating, it simply wasn't possible. But what drove him up the wall was the closeness that only time could provide. He despondently thought that there was a chemistry that you had with Jungkook that you lacked with him.

Why was he so hurt when you refused to let him pinch your cheek or ruffle your hair? But he quickly realized that whatever jealousy he had previously experienced was nothing in comparison to the fire that sat in his stomach as he glanced at your figure.

Your head was rested nicely on Jungkook's broad shoulders as you drifted in slumber.

Another memory needled Minghao in the back of his mind.

The two of you had been taking the train back home from visiting some city two hours away and were totally exhausted. It was obvious by the way your chin frequently nodded that you were about to fall asleep.

"You can lean on me," Minghao offered, while wrapping an arm around your body to gather you closer to him.

As much as you wanted to, there was a specific reason that kept you from jumping at the suggestion. "It's okay love, I'll just lean back."

. . .

When you awoke in the hotel that you had been staying for the past week for Seokmin's wedding, you took account of the warm chest you were nestled into with happiness.

As you blinked your eyes awake, you were startled to see that Minghao was already awake and studying your face closely with a blank expression on his face. "You're up?"

You nodded, "Yup." You were about to snuggle a little closer and fall back to sleep when his voice broke the silence.

"Why don't you let me pinch your cheek?"

A red flush appeared on your cheeks as you recalled the reason.

Upset at your silence, Minghao continued, his voice beginning to betray his feelings. "Why can't I ruffle your hair?"

The crimson darkened.

At your continued lack of speech, hurt and anger were steeped strongly into the next words. "And how come you'll sleep on Jungkook's shoulder and not mine?"

You bit your lip lightly, not sure how to respond with sounding immature. Minghao couldn't endure your quiet and turned you so you were lying on your back while he loomed over you in an intimidating manner.

"It's not fair, you know," he grumbled with a sullen expression in his eyes. "It feels like you're closer to him than me. Besides, who is he to do that anyway? So what if he's your childhood friend, I'm your boyfriend."

You were at a loss for words, why was a jealous Minghao so cute?

He closed his eyes in defeat when you still said nothing only to be startled by a very quick, very chaste little kiss on his nose. And then another one on his cheek. And another one on his other cheek. Soon you were peppering softly ticklish kissed all over his face, "You're so silly."

As much as your pecks were distracting, he wasn't going to let it go. "How am I silly?"

You punched his chest in a mock-angry manner, "Because just you said the answer, you're my boyfriend. Who I don't want to treat me like a little kid or need to wash an expensive suit because I drool slightly when I sleep."

A wave a relief washed through Minghao as he took your words in, "That was it?"

"That was it." But you could help but to add, "You were jealous of Jungkook, wait till I tell Mingyu about this."

"Oh kill me."
