58. Drifting Apart

HyeoEun’s POV
Kyuhyun and I haven’t spent solid time together since my birthday last week. When he came back to the dorm he barely spoke to us about why he had gone off earlier on. He’s been really distant lately. Even when he has no schedule, he’s not home. I decided to be the faithful girlfriend and not ask. I’m sure he wants me to trust.
“HyeoEun-ah, do you have a plus-one for the sponsorship dinner tomorrow? Is Kyuhyun available?” Eonni asked me.
--Flashback--
“Kyuhyun-ah, are you free next Tuesday?” I asked when he came home late at night. I had stayed up watching TV just to ask him that question.
“I doubt it, HyeoEun. Why?” he asked as he plopped next to me on the sofa.
“I have a sponsorship dinner for a pharmaceutical company and it’s a plus-one event, so I thought the best choice would be you,” I said as I leaned on his shoulder.
He held my hand and apologized, “Sorry HyeoEun, comeback is in a week and we’re prepping for promotions and SM Town tours. I don’t think I’ll have time.”
“I understand,” I said with a disappointed tone.
“Maybe- *sigh* maybe you can ask Junho-ssi? Maybe he’s free,” Kyuhyun suggested.
“So you’re going with Junho-ssi?” Eonni asked.
“Neh.”
“And Kyuhyun didn’t complain?” she asked with disbelief.
“He suggested it,” I said.
“Whoa… is he ok? I mean, he has comebacks but this is just one evening. Can’t he make time?” Eonni asked. She sounded a little angry. To be honest, I was a little angry too. Why couldn’t he make time?
I slipped on my dress carefully to not mess up my hair. Junho-ssi was going to pick me up in 20 minutes so I thought I should be ready by then. He’s going to be early for sure. Ding dong! I was right; 10 minutes early. “Coming!” I called from my room. I ran to the intercom and let him in.
