Sunday the 13th December – 3rd Advent Sunday

A Christmas Dream
How nice it was to wake up to a decorated apartment. If it could just be like this all year.
I got dressed and put my pixie hat on. It looked really cute. Xiao Xiong had gotten a home in the kittens’ corner. They all three lied around it and slept.
I wished every morning could be like this.

But of course it couldn’t. I lightened up three of the lights in my Advent wreath. After letting them burn for some time, I blew them out. Just at that moment, my mobile rang. I picked it up.
“Hey Rainie,” I said.
“Gui?”
“Why are you crying?” I asked worried.
“It’s just... uhm... can you come over? I don’t want to tell it over the phone,” she sobbed.
“Of course,” I promised, quickly took my jacket on and ran nearly all the way to Rainie’s house.
She hugged my crying when I stepped inside of the door.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. I had never seen her like this before.
“I just g-got and SMS from S-show... He’s going with his family to the other side of the c-country for a w-week, and he told me n-not to write or call back... ever again!” she sobbed.
“What?” This couldn’t be true. He looked so happy with her yesterday, and must’ve been able to see that it was mutual. How could he just leave like that?
“H-he just w-wrote that,” she said, as we sat down at a sofa.
“Did he write why?” I asked. This was still weird.
“N-no, but I just got s-shocked, and he told me not to write back...”

I used all day to console Rainie. She had never been heartbroken like this before – neither had I, so I didn’t know what advise to give her.
I decided to introduce her to a traditional Christmas drink I had learned to make once I was in Denmark; Glögg. There was some alcohol in it, not much. But if one drank it like Rainie, it became a lot.
“Rainie, don’t drink more now,” I said after the 7th cup, where she had started to talk blurred.
“No, give me the...”
“No, I said!”
I finally got her to calm down. After all, the glögg had also made her relax a bit.
“You haven’t known him for such a long time after all,” I said. “You’ll get over it.”
“But I’m very easily affected by my feelings,” she sniffled. I couldn’t help but smile.
“You can still manage to say such a thing.”
She sniffled again.
“Alright, calm down, then we’ll go to Quadric’s and order some cake, okay?” I asked. She nodded.

Even though I had secretly asked Jiro to be especially nice to her today, Rainie was still downhearted the whole afternoon. Why should this happen so close to Christmas? That jerk. I would never have been able to tell that he would do something like this. It wasn’t like him at all.
