Baekhyun put his hands over his face. “My mother is going to hit me if she sees another F on my test.”

“Says the guy who also failed the last test.” Kai retorted.

I laughed. “You guys should really focus then.”

“Amber, can you sstudy with us today at Sehun’s house?” Chanyeol asked me as he munched on his bagel he had for lunch.

“Yeah-“ I said before remembering that I had to meet up with Xiumin, Lay, and Kris for the project. “Right, I just remembered. Sorry guys, I can’t go. I have to work on a project.”

“Oh yeah, Sehun has the same language teacher as you too. Isn't it a group project?” Suho asked. The rest of them either didn’t have language class or had a different language teacher.

“Yup.”

“Who are you working with if you don’t have any other friends in that class?” Kyungsoo asked me.

“Xiumin, Lay, and Kris.” I murmured. I knew I wasn’t going to get a good reaction.

“Wae?” Sehun said in disgust.

“Eh, why are you with those idiots?” Kyungsoo spat.

“I didn’t choose to be with them. I didn’t have anyone else in partner up with.. and so the teacher assigned me to be with them.” I explained.

“Aish… I feel bad for you. You wouldn’t have to suffer if we just had the same class as you.” Suho commented.

“Just thinking about them pisses me off.” Kai muttered.

“That son of a Chen took the last chocolate milk at the beanery today.” Baekhyun complained.

I accidentally snickered, which caused Baekhyun to scowl. “Heh… sorry. You can have mines, bacon.”

“Chincha? Thanks Am!” Baekhyun giggled like a little boy as he took the chocolate milk away from me.

Chanyeol crossed his arms. “Amber, you’re just gonna ditch us?”

“For those ugly faces on top of that?” Kai added.

“The project is worth a lot of points…”

“Okay okay, do what you want.” Chanyeol huffed.

“Don’t be like this…”

“We already barely hang out… and especially since last week. What are you so busy with after school these days? You only work at the Sweet Witches café part time.” Chanyeol said, annoyed.

“I- um-“

“She has a life too. And it’s not like she chose her partners or willingly want to do this dumb project. Give her a break.” Sehun spoke up.

“Aish, fine!” Chanyeol pouted.

I smiled at Sehun, silently thanking him. He then cleared his throat and looked away from me.

School ended, and we were in front of the gates of the school waiting for Amber. When Amber spotted us, she scurried over to us. Xiumin and Lay gave her a wave while I watched her getting closer to us.

“We’ll be going to Kris’s house. Is that okay with you, Amber?” Xiumin asked her.

She nodded. “Yeah.”

When we arrived at my house, I felt the tension between Amber and I as she set foot inside my house. A flashback of memories came into my mine, as I was sure Amber was experiencing the same thing. We were both silent, allowing Xiumin and Lay do all of the talking.
