Twenty Three
Heart Reserved For One"Sehun, aren't you going to pick up your phone?" my friend Daeun asked me. I was at a party with another group of friends. All I did there was drink.
I might be or not be a little drunk right now.
"Ugh, so annoying." I said, referring to my phone. I didn't care who it is, how important could it be?
After my phone has stopped ringing, I turned off my phone without checking who the 5 missed calls were from.
"Pass me another bottle."
I jolted at the mention of my name. I slowly but anxiously turned my head to the voice of the person I least expected to see.
For a second I was relieved, but the next all I felt was embarrassment. I definitely did not want Kris to me like this.
“What happened to you, Amber?” Kris asked me. I wasn’t sure if I was being delusional, but I almost thought I saw worry in his eyes.
“Kris” I said with a crack in my voice. Damn it, why can’t I just talk normally?
“Did something happen to you Amber?” Kris asked me again, but this time he had an unhappy expression on his face.
I suddenly got goose bumps from the wind after the shop door had opened. I knew that Kris has noticed, because he was eyeing my arms. I felt uncomfortable at his staring, so I used my hands to cover my arms.
Kris took off his leather jacket and handed it to me this time. I didn’t hesitate to take it, because I didn’t want to be wearing a tank top in public.
“Thank you, Kris.” I uttered. I put on the jacket, while trying to zip up the jacket. Maybe it was my lack of dexterity, but I couldn’t work with the zipper.
I instantly shot my hands away when I felt Kris’s hands brush against mine. Kris easily zipped up the jacket I was wearing in one try. Like always, he caused my cheeks to turn pink.
Heart, stop beating!
“There.” Kris spoke.
“Thanks… again.” I didn’t want to look at him.
“Did you eat anything yet?”
It has finally hit me that I haven’t eaten anything since noon, and that I was now hungry.
I shook my head. Kris and I purchased the ramen and poured hot water onto our ramen. After it was ready, we began eating together in silence.
I was thankful that Kris was here, because now I felt a lot more safe and secure.
We ate the ramen in silence. Kris didn't ask me questions anymore questions, which made me feel a little disappointed. Part of me wanted Kris to show that he still cared about me.
When we both finished our ramen, Kris got up. "Are you going to stay here?"
"Well..." I wasn't sure what to say. Of course I wanted to go home but I didn't want to ask Kris to accompany me because I didn't want to burden him. I took a quick peek out the window, and Henry was still there. When we made eye contact, I quickly turned my head back to Kris.
Kris formed a unibrow with his brows. "Amber, are you okay?"
"Oh- yeah, I am." I answered.
Kris didn't say anything else and walked out of the store. I followed Kris from behind.
Kris's house and my home was at the opposite direction from here.
“Well- bye, Amber.” Kris said first.
I felt my blood being drained from body. “B-bye, Kris.”
Kris walked away from me first, leaving me alone again.
“So who was that? Your boyfriend?” Henry suddenly appeared.
I avoided looking at Henry and ignored him. But Henry’s gaze that I didn’t even bother to look at still intimidated me.
“Nah, probably not. Why would he go out with someone like
